Still didn't answer the question though have you. Who in the club would you have moved up to become manager? Is that because there is noone so instead take the subject back to Barton. You have no idea what he can do what he can't do and it's all pure speculation, maybe he can sort out where we are going wrong maybe he can't but I would more inclined to listen to someone who has played the game at the highest level for a number of years and believe he knows what he is talking about over a poster on Gaschat. It doesn't matter who I would have appointed that's totally irrelevant to the point at hand and naming literally anyone would just give you the opportunity to deflect from the fact you're proposing that someone with zero knowledge of running a football club be given carte blanche just because he's played premiership football. It's also irrelevant that he knows more about football than someone on Gaschat- Gaschat doesn't run the football club. What's important is whether he knows more than someone with experience of running a football club. You've offered nothing to back up why it would be a good idea because there is nothing. Zero knowledge of running a football club. So what has he been doing for the last couple if years. Just shows your so anti Barton you actually believe what you write. Again it is relevant who would you appoint who has knowledge of how to run a club. We have noone on our books that would be able to take up the challenge so your point about hiring within is total garbage.

I don't have to be a "Barton hater" to point that completely obvious, totally irrefutable fact out.

Obviously he'll have a say but surely any final decisions with regard to non playing matters are made by the board ?

A few defeats and frank interviews and it’s prime time for the daggers to come out, but I find the personal hatred towards Barton, especially from one poster in particular, really confusing.
Joey is calling for some semblance of standards and is being persecuted - our 3rd convenient scapegoat of the season. Surely at the end of the day we all want the same thing which isn’t Rovers getting relegated and shafted (once again!) by incompetency and/or money grabbers.
Following the Swindon game Wael and Barton immediately spoke, from that, either agreed upon or not, Barton has publicly called ‘the ‘cancer’ out. For arguments sake lets assume it’s Widdrington and the players he’s recruited, Ehmer etc. If it’s taken Barton all but 3 weeks to figure that out then what does that tell you!
I’ve just read someone on here say Widdrington got us to 4th in the league? I mean come on. What the f**k. He came in as a scout after DC/Coughlan had laid the groundwork of a decent hardworking mid table side, which was then carried to 4th by the needle in a haystack signing - Clarke-Harris. After that, Widdrington and Garner had free reign. They ripped the squad apart, and all of their/his signings have led us to now, struggling/all but relegated, with 3 managers failing to get a tune out of the same squad. We will have a real job on our hands to be competitive next year, given some of the contracts these signings are on - regardless of who the manager is!
To me, this reeks of when DC/Coughlan spoke out about the lack of professionalism and funding to kick on to that next level - both shortly left and were hung out to dry on here. But what happened in the following seasons? The Colony. Sometimes you need a disruptor to force change.
Once again, we have a coach who’s showing some ambition and it’s clear as day some people are very scared of that. If we don’t change and progress we will be left behind. The likes of Salford and Harrogate etc are here to stay, and god forbid B teams. We’ll probably be dicked by both of them ^ next season ffs!
From Santa’s grotto to foxes sh**ting at the old training ground, we have and always will be a laughing stock IF we continue to accept it. I’m only in my mid twenties but I’ve been around long enough to know the ‘cancer’ at the gas runs a lot deeper than board or player level. It’s a mentality.
If you want ‘rag bag Rovers’ then you’re confining us to the history books, a lot sooner than some of you may realise.

We stink of being an underperforming club that just accepts it, all the while teams from the conference and league 2 are passing us and flicking the Vs as they do. Rovers have taken a step forward to catch up with finally getting the training ground moving, but until a Stadium is built and there are the right professionals in the building to nurture the culture you need to be successful we will slowly but surely slip down and cement ourselves as league 2 fodder.

I don't have to be a "Barton hater" to point that completely obvious, totally irrefutable fact out. So his time in football he hasn't gained a wealth of knowledge in how a football club is run. And to shake it up from top to bottom can be read however you want. Wael is at the top I'm sure he isnt trying to get rid of him but there maybe one or two that are cutting the mustard. How far to the bottom do you go is he referring to the tea lady, the workers in the club shop I very much doubt it. I would take it in all the years he has been involved in football he would spot a decent coach and someone who is just not putting it all in. The club is going backwards and a shake up is exactly what is required and if it dosent happen then I fear for the future of our club. Is Joey Barton the correct man to taken all this on I have no idea but yet again I would trust him more than I would trust other ex managers to change the way we operate. Wael will have his own ideas of what he wants to do and with some input from JB it could be the kick start we need as we cannot keep going on like we are. I see you just don't want to answer my question on who from within you would promote assuming i would criticise. In would just be interested as I believe there is nobody. I would also like to know your opinion on what direction we should head in taking JB out the picture. Do you think we don't need a shake up? There's lots of JB bashing but no alternative to how we should go.

Widdrington was brought in by DC so he assisted GC in bringing ex Coventry players JCH, Ogogo and Clarke, given he was formerly Coventry's Chief Scout it seems highly likely they were all his recommendations.
I'm still not convinced JB is talking about anybody other than the players when he talks about a "cancer" and it could well be just Ehmer he's referring to, if it is you do have to wonder if that relates more to their time together at QPR in the decent past than anything which has taken place at Rovers.

I think there’s nuance to such posts considering the circumstance/heat of the moment etc. My post there more refers to the inherent and persistent personal attacks of Barton on here. Specifically by one poster, an odd level of hatred, above simply ‘sack him the results aren’t good enough’.

I'm not sure wanting Starnes and Widdrington out is the same as giving Barton free reign. If Widdrington goes and the club see fit to appoint a new Head of recruitment then it makes perfect sense that JB has an input given that he has to work closely with whoever that may be.

Where do you go from here because this is a very damaging defeat and you’ve got three very daunting fixtures to come before you get back at home against more mid-table level sides. So, how do you pull of a miracle now?
It’s going to be tough, but we knew that when we joined in February. You believe that you can change people and drive them to higher standards and with some people you can and some others you just can’t.
The damage is already done with them and it’s almost like when you buy a pedigree dog and train it to wee and all that outside, but we’ve found some bad dogs here and that’s the reality.
They’re scared of their own shadows a lot of them and we’re going to have to figure out over the next nine games whether we can get that out of them and if not, they’re going to have to go.
Unfortunately, they’re going to have to leave the premises because we’re going to win here and we’re going to get this right.
I’ve signed for two and a half years, I’m all in with the football club, I’ve moved away from my missus and my young family and so have my coaching staff, to make Rovers successful.
If I could go in today and cut surgically the cancer that’s running throughout the club out, I would. But I can’t because I need a period of time and a transfer window to do that, but it doesn’t mean I don’t understand the root of the problem that it all stems from.
I can guarantee the fans that we will have a healthy, vibrant, winning football club by the time they get back into the stadium.
You say there’s a cancer, is that in your playing squad or is that above that?
I think the players will take the flak, because at the end of the day they’re the ones who set the bar. It seems to be systemic and general malaise and lethargy that has upset the place.
The good thing for me is that the owner and CEO are both fully aware of it but that’ll stay in house, in the boardrooms as it’s our own conversations.
He’s a man who has put a lot of money into the football club and wants nothing more than the club to succeed.
We’ve learnt nothing tonight that we didn’t already know before tonight, it just exacerbates it a little bit and people realise just what a mess we were in.
It doesn’t take me long to figure out what’s wrong with my patients because I’m an expert in what I do. I’ve been in football since I can consciously remember and it’s all I know.
Not sure what Barton's hoping to achieve continually publicly criticising the players, is this really something Wael supports? I can't us getting much now in the next 9 games out of most of the players, who'll probably be resigned to looking for new club's during the summer.

The team are not performing well on the pitch. That's completely different. My opinion is that internal appointment has always seen us do best. The question of who I would appoint just distracts from the question of whether or not we should allow Joey Barton to "shake up" the club. I think plenty were disappointed when DC was appointed, probably Gerry even. GC was doing well, Ollie did well. I think it's something we should take as a model for the club.

Any suggestion I make would give you the opportunity to deflect the weakness of your argument that he should on to that, totally separate, subject. The simply fact is there isn't a suitable internal candidate or he would have been made caretaker manager rather than TW. The only obvious candidate is Hargreaves but he's been overlooked twice and just seems content to plod along in the background at Rovers rather than seek a manager's, or assistant manager's job in senior football.
