[b I am of the opinion that by performing shockingly bad under 3 different managers, it's the players who appear to be fraudulent. Bartons PPG is the culmination of a very poor season and the mistakes that have gone before him imo. Barton came to us knowing what the situation was and his immediate task was to accumulate enough points to avoid relegation. Managers have to MANAGE - that means motivating players and getting them to perform to the best of their ability, as a team, every match. His pathetic PPG cannot be blamed on other people. HE was the manager and HE failed. Which he did, then he lost our best play makers in Nicholson and Rodman with Oztumer never regaining any form. Assuming he stays a free man this summer then it looks highly likely that he will remain our, manager next season, so will then be able to prove if he's a decent manager or not.

I don’t care that he’s been a naughty boy, I care that his performance as manager has been crap. He took over a team outside of the relegation zone and looks set to have guided them to bottom! Unfortunate with injuries? Yes. Poor squad? Yes (although he knew what he was inheriting). He still performed worse than Ben f**king Garner. A lazy, people don’t like him because he’s had a few scraps is potentially true of some, but others like me just think he has underperformed and gave up early. Ok so whats the solution sack yet another one? Firstly I have always said we should not sack him and have to stick with him next season. Had he been the second manager I would have pulled the trigger but we can’t keep going through managers or we will be seen as a basket case club. However, with his performance being crap and the fact that he has achieved nothing of note as a manager I just feel we need to be cautious in how much control we give him. The solution for me is that we need a proper, experienced person as a link between the manager/coaching staff and the boardroom. Someone who has sufficient experience to get JBs respect who can offer guidance and ensure how things are being structured is suitable and also someone with enough about them to point Wael in the right direction. The errors made over the last 2 seasons have devestated the club and were totally avoidable with the right direction. I have my reservations whether TW is that person but so much of his role and the limitations of it are behind closed doors that it’s difficult to know for certain. But feeling is that he has a good network and should continue to develop that but isn’t the man to be director of football. I’m fully behind JB and hope he does an incredible job for us but so far he has done nothing to demonstrate that is the case. The reason I piped up is because it seems anyone who criticises him gets loads of nonsense thrown at them. Not aimed squarely at you but I’ve read people being told to not voice their opinion, told to support another club and then just dismissed as having an invalid opinion on the basis of his historical record of violence despite that not being mentioned. This isn’t North Korea and this is a forum for expressing opinions so I chip in with that!

Precisely. And Barton was brought in to turn that around. Good managers can do it (eg Allardyce). Yes it was a challenge but I don't get why so many on here give JB a free pass when he had plenty of time to accumulate enough points to avoid relegation. Not sure why you would want to bump this thread. It is not about next season - he might do very well and I hope he does. My comment is about THIS season and his failure as a manager to keep us in League 1. The same Allerdyce who had a January transfer window and still couldn’t turn it around? I don’t anyone is giving him a free pass - anyone who says he is completely free of responsibility is just plain wrong. Joey admitted it himself. The difference is that people aren’t blaming him for taking us down. And likewise anyone who is, is just plain wrong. I am blaming him for taking us down. I am not wrong .

Go on treat yourself to some feels! I'm pretty sure we had more chances in that single game than our current bunch of eggs managed in an entire season.

I hope it makes you feel better but I doubt any manager would have kept us up once Nicholson's season was ended by injury. So what are you going to do next season support Barton or hope he fails/gets sent down so we have to employ yet another manager.

When he took over we were in 18th place....Burton, Wigan and Wimbledon were below us.
All 3 escaped relegation.
Incidentally Blackpool were in 14th!!
