But they're not though, are they? If it was double vaccinated only, I would understand your point. But in the middle of a pandemic, they're asking people take take a 30 second free test at home to prove they don't have the deadly virus in order to attend. It's really not hard, is it? but if they get their way the test option wont be an option come sept. Who is they, and why would the benefit from that? What would be the advantage to doing that? Do you have any evidence that is their plan?

Awesome mate. Best GP I’ve been to as a spectator and I’ve been fortunate to attend quite a few around the world. I’ve been a few times pal, I must say th feel good buzz that goes on when Lewis wins/is fightin for th win is incredible, sends shivers down yer spine. 👍🇬🇧 I remember as a lad going in 92 when Mansell won and remember that atmosphere like yesterday. I’ve seen every win for Lewis at Silverstone bar one in 2017 and that was the best one yet and that was very Mansell-esq.

Awesome mate. Best GP I’ve been to as a spectator and I’ve been fortunate to attend quite a few around the world. I'll come back to you in winter on this, would love to attend Silverstone next year. Only been to Hungarian GP a couple of years ago when of course it was an absolute bore, but comfortable win for Hamilton at least. Be more than welcome to tag along in our gang mate. It’s always a blast and you end up knowing someone else that’s also going so meet with them too. There were 4 of us plus we met with about 10 others that went throughout the day. A good craic. I’ve been to the Hungarian GP but only when I was a race mechanic so literally got to see nothing bar the airport, hotel and circuit. For me, the best GP’s in the world are Silverstone, Monza and Monaco. Great atmospheres at all of them.

FAQs - www.bristolrovers.co.uk/news/2021/july/faq-return-of-fans/The Club has constructed some responses to frequently asked questions regarding the return of fans to the Memorial Stadium this weekend! Why are there additional regulations in place?
The club is working closely with our Safety Advisory Group as well as following the regulations from the EFL and government to ensure that your matchday at the Mem is as safe as possible. As we are yet to hold a test event the pre-season fixtures will be treated as these to help us demonstrate that match days can run smoothly and safely. Do I need to be double vaccinated to attend?
No, supporters can attend without being vaccinated, however you will need to provide evidence of a negative lateral flow test. These can be logged via www.gov.uk/report-covid19-result Do I need to demonstrate my negative test or vaccination on a smart phone?
No, using the NHS app or online portal is preferred, however if you don’t have access to these systems you can bring a letter or your vaccination card as proof. Will proof of Covid recovery be suitable to gain entry to the stadium?
Yes, you will need to show documentation of recovery (proof of a recent positive viral test and a letter from your healthcare provider or a public health official stating that you were cleared to travel). Alternatively, a negative lateral flow test will also suffice. Do children need to take lateral flow tests?
Children 12 and under do not need to take a lateral flow test, however anyone 13 and over will. This can be done via the above processes. Are masks required to be worn when at the stadium?
We would encourage all supporters to bring a mask with them and wear it whilst moving around the stadium. However, this will not be enforced and it will be down to supporters to decide if and when to wear their masks. Is social distancing required whilst at the stadium?
Our pre-season games are still being treated as test events so efforts have been taken to spread supporters around all parts of the ground. Supporters are encouraged to maintain social distancing where possible. Why are the terraced areas split into sections?
As part of the restrictions to ensure social distancing, the terrace areas have been split to ensure that capacity levels in each part of the terrace are limited to maintain social distancing. Will the club shop be open?
No the club shop isn’t re-opening until 7th August. Will the bars and kiosks be open?
Yes, bars and kiosks will be open. The Thatchers Bar will be open as usual other bars and kiosks will be available across the stadium once you have entered the Memorial Stadium. What time should I arrive at the stadium?
We’d encourage all supporters to arrive at the Mem as early as possible as entry to the stadium may take longer than it has in the past. If I am not comfortable in attending the match yet, will it be streamed on iFollow?
Yes, all pre-season games will be streamed on iFollow. Profits from streams for the Swansea game will be donated to Bristol Rovers Community Trust. Why are tickets for the game only on sale via Ticketmaster?
One of the restrictions for the pre-season games is that we aren’t permitted to allow away fans to attend. Due to this, we are only permitted to sell tickets to supporters with a previous booking history and not permitted to sell on the day. What methods can I use to gain entry to the ground?
All tickets purchased online are now digital, print at home tickets. You will receive a printable PDF via email with a download button giving you the option to either print at home or save a digital ticket to your Google Pay/ Apple Wallet, which can be scanned to provide entry to the stadium at the turnstiles. Alternatively, you can open the PDF from your email app and display the ticket to gain entry. It’s important to take note of the turnstile listed on your match ticket - as the turnstiles number is allocated to manage the flow of supporters entering the ground. Will tickets be available to purchase in store and from the matchday ticket office when the season starts?
Yes, tickets will be available to purchase in store when it opens next month. The matchday ticket office will open as soon as the restrictions on away supporters are lifted. Will the same restrictions be in place after the Pre-Season friendlies?
We are in constant dialogue with our Safety Advisory Group and following the guidance of government and EFL regulations to ensure that the Mem is safe. We are hopeful however, that should the pre-season fixtures run smoothly and the outbreak of the virus within society remains at its current levels or reduces, then some restrictions may be eased.

So the largest, biggest money spinning sporting event in the world over the last 5 years The Olympics has just opened. Only 1000 VIP spectators allowed into the 100,000 capacity stadium to witness the Opening Ceremony all social distancing and wearing masks. No general fans allowed in. The actors and sportsmen/women in the show display all wore face masks. All "proven" and tested covid free from weeks long confined covid free bubbles?
Meanwhile over at the Mem tomorrow a meaningless friendly there will be a free for all with 4000? fans without masks. VIP not expected though! You couldn't make it up!

I would be shocked if more than 1000 people attend. Hassle getting tickets and the cost of £16 for a friendly, plus many fans won't have been double jabbed or able to prove it and many might prefer the £5 option to watch On Ifollow in the safety of their own home.

I think the majority on here know by now that I do not wish to have the vaccine for my own reasons ( please no more attacks 😂 ) but I Have absolutely no issues with taking the LFT before the game , I actually think it’s an absolute necessity and i test myself twice weekly anyway and I will also out of consideration and respect for others keep my mask on the entire time I’m at the game , again I have no issue in doing this whatsoever. ( it’s a rovers snood so not technically a mask ) I do worry how ever that if the vaccine becomes compulsory in September that I’ll never be able to watch the gas again , who would of thought a couple of years ago that all our lives would be turned upside down like this and actually having to contemplate never attending a rovers game again , that’s the price I’m prepared to pay , no matter how much it would hurt !! Still UTG !!!

Strange post, so what would you prefer Rovers to announce that no fans will allowed into games until further notice? Nobody is forcing you to attend games if you don't feel comfortable attending them. Personally I'd feel safer attending the game tomorrow than going to a pub or club tonight.

The guy that Wael is apparently following
Cheltenham Town will not be signing Fulham attacker Timmy Abraham after a trial stint with the League One side. Ahead of the new campaign, Cheltenham Town boss Michael Duff has been casting his eye over some potential new additions, one being Fulham striker Timmy Abraham.
The 20-year-old, younger brother of Chelsea striker Tammy, has been on trial with the Robins ahead of a potential loan move.
During his time with the League One new boys, Abraham netted twice in a 2-1 win over Kidderminster Harriers. He played in three games for Cheltenham overall and now, it seems Duff has made up his mind regarding a potential move for the young forward.
READ: Fulham man set to join Championship rivals As per a report from Gloucestershire Live, Cheltenham will not be bringing in Abraham this summer.
The forward will now return to parent club Fulham, where he will be waiting to discover his transfer fate ahead of the new season.
Abraham has spent three stints away from Craven Cottage in recent years. He has spent time in the Football League with Bristol Rovers and Plymouth Argyle, also enduring a stint in Scotland with Raith Rovers.
Now, with the start of the new season nearing, it will be interesting to see how the London-born forward’s situation pans out.
Thoughts? Despite netting twice against Kidderminster, Abraham doesn’t have the best goalscoring record.
He failed to score in any of his three loan spells away but managed 12 goals in 46 outings with Fulham’s U18s.
Duff seemingly thinks there are better options in the market, so it will be interesting to see how their striker hunt pans out over the coming weeks.

I'd be surprised after his last loan spell he returns to playing for Rovers.

The hassle of even getting ready to get to a game just is not worth it. As proved today with the Swansea game being called off. Get your ticket online pay a handling charge then you have to print it yourself if you dont have a smartphone. Potentially paying for a pcr test from september Have to go by car as the public transport is limiting numbers and would never get there. Get outside the ground early enough as told and then get informed the players have covid and it's off.hassle of getting a refund minus the handling charge and lost your money on a pcr. Happy days

Happy days I mean it was called off by 10am today. Unless you’re travelling from somewhere like Manchester then you’re unlikely to be affected by travel. You only need an LFT and they’re free, or you can get double vaxxed and not have to worry. And the tickets will of course be refunded inc the booking fee.

I went to see a play last night (posh I know). There was a full capacity of 900, with no social distancing. You had to do the track and trace thing at the door (or if you didn’t have it you could leave a name and number … or just pretend and wave your phone at the QR code). Not sure if they would have refused entry if you didn’t agree to this. There was no requirement to prove vaccination status or a negative test. People were encouraged to wear masks in all areas of the theatre apart from when eating and drinking but it was not obligatory or policed; about 70% did but a significant minority didn’t (it didn’t seem to cause any arguments). Even more took off masks during the play as it was a comedy (easier to laugh out loud without a mask). At the end they asked people to leave one row at a time to avoid crowding at the exits, which was fine.
Now I know football is a different context but rules for games along the lines of the above was ok with me and not too intrusive or problematic. I could live with this at the Mem. They key for me was not having the hassle of ensuring we all had covid passports or lateral flow test results. Even the controlled exiting was ok and wouldn’t be new in football anyway (I remember the days of being locked in away ends after games!).
Of course, I may now have covid and it could turn out to be a super spreader event!
