Yet another reminder yesterday that The New Lawn, for all its innovative Eco friendly ways, is still the worst Away supporter experience in the entire football league. The lack of pubs, places to find food, basic facilities around the stadium for away supporters that you cannot find without the cost of a half hour walk downhill (and back again) Not to mention the horrendous standard of food inside the ground. I don’t mean Vegan before anybody starts, even the chips left much to be desired. See also the sludge that I was told was ‘hot chocolate’. And then we have the shambles on the terrace itself, covered seating, covered terrace, uncovered terrace? I made my way to the far end at 1:30 as to not encounter all of those coming through the turnstiles, yet nobody seemed to have a clue what their ticket said & where they were supposed to be. No matter how much the young stewards tried. All in all a drab experience in sub zero wind chill & that’s regardless of what did or did not happen on the pitch. It will be interesting to see how Mr Vince handles this sold out situation when they reach League One & the likes of Sunderland, Ipswich, Derby, Sheff Wed etc…visit Nailsworth every other week and the ‘lively’ fanbases these clubs travel with. Yep, the whole area is just not compatible with league football. I went up and down the hill three times before finding a parking spot in a road halfway down the hill (others arriving later seemed to have less luck). A few gasheads were drinking cans outside a convenience store nearby (will make a mental note of that just in case we play them again) but not ideal. The terrace was overcrowded and stewards clueless (I don’t blame them though), making a mockery of any debates about safe standing!

As someone who has been a supporter of BRFC for 76 years and still am I wish Vince and his Club every success in passing us on the pyramid (like so many other Clubs have) and hope that he goes on to show us how it should be done. I was not there yesterday but I gather they beat us fair and square. Whilst I wish Vince and FG all the best I don't use his electricity (that would be too much!)

Which could have been anything up to £1m, unless we know the figure it's impossible to know if we lost out on a good deal. Plus Piggott could have always turned down the offer even we agreed to pay the fee. Although he's hardly setting L1 alight this season at Ipswich with just 2 goals so far. "available for a relatively modest transfer fee having entered the final year of his contract at Plough Lane" according to The Bristol Post. Im sure his 20 goals last season would have made a difference. That modest transfer fee was £500k. They were prepared to keep him and lose him for nothing knowing that his goals could prove vital unless a fairly big offer came in.

As we found out with club record total of games without scoring, club record home defeats and ultimately relegation.

Bloody hours Having to scroll down to League 2 to check results is a real pain, along with having to wait for goals on the EFL quest I only watch when we win, so not so bad this season.

When we dropped out of the league the biggest cheer when we got back was when the Ref sprayed the ten yard line at a free kick.

Something in the region of about £1.2m to £1.5m, without factoring in reduced attendances and all that brings.

Well, that was disappointing to say the least. I knew what it would be like on here so I’ve kept away until this evening.
Have read what people have said and I think Bluebiro and 1981 got it right about the effect having Pitman in the team has. We struggle to play on the front foot with him in the team. Needs to be an impact sub perhaps. Without Collins, Thomas and Nicholson from the start means all the pace I was happy to see us have went out of the window. I know BP will score goals but he needs the pacey players around him. After seeing Grant do really well on the left side he has been on the right side in the last two matches, in defence and in midfield. Was that due to injury or a decision to change things around? Perhaps JB had no choice, I’m not sure.
Long way to go but we’ll win more games than lose against the middle /bottom half table teams but may struggle to beat teams near the top. This league isn’t great quality but FGR sound as if they are as good as there is in the league. I hope they enjoy their success whilst it lasts.
UTG!

All this doom and gloom is so depressing. Only a month ago I personally doubted our ability to avoid relegation into Level 5 again…at least now we look capable of mid table position and for that we should all be truly grateful. IMHO Level 5? Thanks for a much more palatable version of “non league” My brother who supports City, always refers to us as NLBR.

If Rovers are a team with so-called quality players, surely we should be above barely average in League2? Are free transfers and players near the end of their careers beneficial to our club? Results suggest otherwise! Fail to see how the club is going to progress. UTG.

Playing 3 at the back or with a 4 man defence with a 3 man midfield isn’t a revolutionary way of playing football. But to be successful at it you need to be good in possession and play with intensity and maximise the wide areas to get the ball up the pitch and usually the feed for that comes from the anchoring midfield. To create the necessary gaps the attacking midfield and strike force need to be as good off the ball as they are on it. Gone are the days when they can hang around the 18 yard box waiting for it to land on their head or their toes. This is where we are desperately struggling. Pitman just isn’t mobile enough off the ball to run the opposition defence backwards into their own half under counter attack. Evans won’t go beyond Pitman and Coutts won’t push out enough because he sees no central outlet. If we do get forward through the middle it’s usually with Finley and Whelan and Coutts are the quickest to press up the midfield. In fact you don’t want Whelan pressing at all. If the wingers get possession and run it forward, Pitman isn’t quick enough to get into their box to give them an early option into the box or as a alternative to bring the midfield into play. So they end up hoofing it in the hope pitman will win a header or a knockdown. JB needs to play the team that has been most effective and for me that is playing without Pitman. Coutts can play with Whelan but only if we have pace around the front 2. If Pitman comes in then Coutts or Whelan have to drop out in place of Spence so we play with 1 anchoring midfielder instead of 2. JB perhaps was a bit hamstrung with no Nicholson on Saturday but Thomas should have been fired up enough to go out there and put in a performance and Spence was available too.

Barton for all of his experience in the game doesn’t seem to have a clue at times what our players strengths and weaknesses are. There have been small signs of improvements in the few weeks but I think that’s probably as much to do with players who were unfit starting to at last get fit as it is him finding the right balance. The players man for man look good enough to be pushing for a top 7 finish , I honestly think if he was to go for whatever season another manager would very likely come in and get this team doing better than he has just by doing the basics. Harry Anderson for example can not defend and should never given the job of marking a tricky left winger. 4231 would suit the squad much better than the formation he keeps using.

But who would play at RB with Grant and Hoole both out injured?
