I thought that too. I still hate the way he seemed to throw the towel in last season but also really like what he’s done since. Widdrington, garner and Tisdale can all do one.

Joey is selfish, impatient and a little insecure. He makes mistakes, He is occasionally out of control and at times hard to handle. But Wael knew all this and took the gamble knowing if you can't handle him at his worst, then you sure as hell don't deserve him at his best. 😉

But Wael knew all this and took the gamble knowing if you can't handle him at his worst, then you sure as hell don't deserve him at his best. 😉 It's an interesting one, and one I would have agreed with several months ago. Do you see a change in his interviews with his general demeanour and his mannerisms? It could be that being on great form for months on end is making him happier, however ISTM that the work of Colonel Gibson has started to show on Joseph, he appears more relaxed, focussed and level headed, unlike times gone by. Interesting to hear him take the fall for picking JG on Saturday, not heard him do that yet and it is the polar opposite to his narcissistic tendencies displayed in the past. Feels like something really special is going on here at the club that will continue for many years to come and Barton has alluded several times to his vision for Championship football. He seems to have a good working relationship with Wael and Tom and they are all on the same page, like many others, never felt so happy to be a Gashead in a very long time, UTG.

I don't think he did throw the towel in, from what we have seen this season the players that were here just simply weren't good enough for that division. It's not as if we went down by a point, we were bottom of the league. The players that stayed in L1 this season have either gotten relegated or aren't in a team above 17th in the division and have played regularly football. The ones that have stayed with us for this season have been replaced with better already and are in front of them in the pecking order. I always held TW ultimately culpable for our relegation.

I think Barrett has shown glimpses of what he can offer.
Wouldn't surprise me if he stays in the National league or maybe a lower league 2 club may take a chance on a pay as you play basis.
Walker has not fully shaken off his injury he suffered early in the season.
Hargreaves again has done well at that level and has played at full back and wing back as well as cm, so wouldn't be surprised if he gets a contract at a national league club (Torquay?).
Young Widds has been in and out of the side.

Do realise JB has lots if baggage, but from my (very limited) experience - I've briefly shared a table with him. Found him softly spoken, articulate and quite charming.
Whereas Andy Mangan was more what you expect from a 'typical' Scouser - loud and very bubbly.
I assume they make a good combination together.

If he gets us consecutive promotions then he has more than made up for it It isn't just about promotion though, he's changed the mentality at the club, and improved things for the future by putting a good backroom team in place, and getting better facilities/equipment for the players. He's set the bar high for the standards required, and I hope that the club will continue with this when he's no longer with us.

Is he being credited with the development of the training ground now too? Fair play.. Anyway, sure we are playing nice football now and winning often. All good. I really hope we do our bit on Saturday and Northampton fluff it. If not, then of course I hope we make it through the play-offs (eek!). It's an incredible turnaround from earlier in the season regardless; when many of us thought playoffs were out of reach (let alone autos!) But he has far from made up for his part in last season yet imo - and if we don't go up then I'm afraid we will be doing another rebuild in League Two. Hoping on signing loan players the calibre of Taylor, Connolly, Thomas and Eliott Anderson again. Also potentially replacing Evans and Nicholson (and whoever else retires or leaves). It could be another slow start if we don't gel before Christmas again.. (early start to the season because of the winter World Cup too). I suppose we should also acknowledge the magistrate-shaped elephant in the room which might well come up again in the summer But I'm going to try and put all that in the back of my mind for now and enjoy Saturday. A couple of early Rovers goals would be great to put a bit of added pressure on the other teams around us and maybe even set us up for the much-needed GD swing!!!! **fingers crossed**

Im still shocked that giving JB some credit still sticks in some peoples throats.
its been a huge rebuild from beyond the playing staff and there are so many positives now its really embarrassing to suggest he hasn't been a success regardless if we are promoted or not.
