Post of the year RD. You and I have been through similar feelings towards JB over the last 12 months, and I'm so thrilled that Wael stuck with JB when the likes of us wouldn't. Very happy to admit I was wrong!

As others have said you have nothing to apologise for. I felt that JB should have been sacked and cannot understand why he was not. Then it got to the point I didn't know which was more embarrassing JB or Bristol Rovers. Thankfully Weal kept his faith in JB and that faith has been rewarded. Whatever peoples opinion of JB he has got this team playing some fantastic football and imo we were by far the best side in our division come the end of the season. I respect people have strong views on JB and don't want him here, though it does jar me off a bit that they feel the need to harp on about it when we are celebrating a win or an amazing promotion. I like all gasheads just want the rovers to be successful, but success does not come easy to teams like ours and sometimes you have to swallow a lot of s##t to get there.

Good post but once again I have to point out that not a single poster with a history of disliking Mr Barton "harped on" with any negative comments until a number of people decided to dig up old threads in order to be smug and self satisfied.

You are right in that nobody harped on but wrong to label people smug and self satisfied. (The harping on would only happen if we were losing evidently) I can't remember you being negative about Barton so unless you have had a name change, it's unclear why the animosity is there towards posters who are able to reflect without spite? It's a bit of a strange one tbh. It's perfectly OK to post, repost and justify negativity whilst doing badly. Yet when things change either for better or worse you are not aloud to revisit? That's not fair imo. Hopefully none of those who were super negative beforehand are feeling put out by this stuff. They needn't be since feelings at that time were justified. I think its great that some people have fussed up. Let's be honest, it wasnt just a bit if negativity was it, more a full on tirade of hate at every aspect of the manager at that time.

I do not disagree that some people went over the top but one thing I have noticed is how people on forums appear to raise a mob and hound out any users who do not follow the crowd. I do not like to see that. The reason I have picked this up several times now is because on this occasion it appeared to me that some actually went out of their way to deliberately stir the pot when it was unnecessary and subsequent posters have then gone on to complain that anti Barton posters will not let them enjoy our success. There was not a single anti Barton post on here until some decided it was a good idea to bring up old posts. It is important to remember that.

Do you think that if it had gone horribly wrong, and we'd ended up getting relegated again (as some were predicting), nobody would have brought up any posts from the peoople who were pro Barton?

Yes they would have and I would then be calling them out for their hypocrisy.

It's natural for some people to want an "enjoy that humble pie" moment. Surely most of us are in a different place now, and can just accept that will happen, and move on together? UTG!

I totally understand the "humble pie" thing and that is understandable even though I do not like to see it. However, some have forced humble pie and then complained that people are moaning about Barton when they were not. It is that I take issue with.

I am not criticising people for posting anti Barton posts. I am just saying how it makes me feel when I see them on a winning match day thread or a promotion thread. I do however understand that protest works by taking people out of their comfort zone so I hope me simply not liking it will not deter people from making their feelings known.

The shinning light for me, is even if all the anti Joey posters did not ever turn up again at the MEM, they would not be missed, as the Joey factor has ensured recent games have been sold out, and season tickets for next season have been selling like hot cakes.

We all want a club, team, manager and owner we can be proud of, but if your support relies on all of these being the case, then I'm afraid you're always going to be disappointed.
