I must be the only one sad to see Cian go. Shame it didn't work out at rovers.

I guess its not about sentiment or maybe's but the cold facts we need to build a squad good enough to compete at the top of league one. Any pkayer who struggled to feature in the league 2 team would find it near impossible a level higher. Better for all concerned for them to find clubs where they will play games. Only young once so no point in wasting it sat in the stands.
So..thank you to all those players who have been released. You have all played a part in the current success . I wish you all the very best in your careers.
I suspect JB wanted whelo to stay but family needs has meant he needs to move back north again. Been a very important cog in the wheel .
So again thanks.

With Coutts serving a three match suspension Whelo was guaranteed a start in those games so am disappointed they couldn’t come to some agreement if only a short term deal. For 2 years Hulbert and Phillips looked like they would make it and as forwards are the most highly paid and the most sought after transfer wise they could have saved us a pretty penny. Ultimately they didn’t develop enough as far as the current regime is concerned. If JB gets the development man from Fleetwood his first job will be to ensure Greenslade doesn’t go the same way…and we end up with a homegrown striker that actually makes the grade.Have we had one since Marcus? Given we eventually sold him for £400k as a striker then I would argue Ellis was the last one.

Thank you Glenn. Model Pro who has influenced the season on, and I am sure, off it also.

Sad to see Glenn go, still hoping he may return in some capacity 🤞.
However, also not too surprised. Would like to see us sign a younger version to compliment Coutts. Provide us with a longer term option for when Coutts also departs, possibly next year.

How could I forget Ellis??? Didn’t he go for £750k? Very probably, I am not good on transfer fees, think I got confused by the fact that when Ipswich sold him they didn’t get much of their £400k fee because they were paying us in instalments and still had to pay us half the agreed fee by the time they got rid of him!

Pretty sure JB said something along the lines of: The released list is just an obligation the club have to make and that potentially one or two of those players may end up being with the Gas next season.
It was quite early on in his chat with Twentyman last night.

It was quite early on in his chat with Twentyman last night. Joey also said he would have a budget that would allow BRFC to be able to compete with the likes of Sheffield Wednesday, Derby County and Ipswich Town, and bringing back Glenn Whelan would imo enhance the clubs chances to do it.

Evans has 7-10 days to decide. Great work by the club to set a deadline. This guy is pivotal but it's important to sort this stuff out early to enable the rest of the transfer dealings to progress.

I am a big fan of Wheelo but just for a bit of balance, he was done for doing 120mph which goes against the role model tag he’s been given. If it were JB I expect there would be calls for a public flogging.
Regardless he played a real key role with us, I’d love him as a coach here. his efforts will always be appreciated

Can't believe young strikers Phillips and Hulbert released without being given any chance. Think Rovers will regret tha Whelan a coaching role maybe? I recommended Ollie as a 7 year old, Southampton and 82 ers wanted him, he is a talented and dedicated pro, who has spent ages in the gym to be physically stronger, he will have the last laugh, gutted for him he and his family are lovely people. I know Southampton offered Tovers a fee for Phillips before he committed himself his home City club but the short term fix and brief was promotion at first time of asking and the development squad was ended as was Chris Hargreaves role. The pathway from youth under 18s to first team has been broken Luca Hoole is the exception and as previous posts have said Greenslade and Egan both have major obstacles to overcome to enable them to get into the squad. Hulbert, Phillips Mehew, Tomlinson Martinez have all become victims of pre Barton group and that must be disappointing for them and current academy players who are being sold a dream.

I don't think Rovers have the financial flexibility to wait for him to decide. We need to sign players who want to be here soonest to be able to prepare etc.

Its a shame as there was high hopes for him as a football-playing defender when he first joined He did switch off now and again but I also think we was unlucky. I thought he’d got his place before the January window but Connolly and Taylor developed a great partnership. He was unlucky because when he made a mistake the opposition usually scored. When Taylor and Connolly made a mistake either Belshaw made a save to avoid conceding or when they did score we would come back and equalise or win, like at Rochdale. Its always easier if you make mistakes in a winning team! Good luck to him. UTG!

That was a January loan wasn't it? Bit different to contracted squad players. I'd expect us to act in January again depending on the situation but Evans et al will need to be sorted soon.
