I think that ship has long sailed, the amount of houses and an arena development appears to have taken care of that site as a potential, could be wrong though as its a huge site. It was always the perfect site to build IMO, I remember the club saying they couldn't purchase the old Rolls Royce site as the cost of cleaning the contaminated soil was too high. Whoever built the warehouses and car dealership managed it OK. To think that site could have been our MK Don's stadium with a hotel and endless stream of daily income opportunities. It just feels like such an obviously missed opportunity. Loads of land, loads of infrastructure. www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-bristol-63741455There must be a reason behind it (no, I am not in the know and no, I am not suggesting anything negative against the board). I completely agree with you and would imagine the majority of Gasheads probably feel the same. As for a string of failed projects for a new stadium I've long felt that the weasle faced one who owns Bristol Sport has had a hand in it, along with his merchant venturer chums.

That's pretty easy. Bit of back stabbing here, a little there and before you know it you are CEO. Harsh, untrue and not fair. Let me jog your memory, his predecessors were Steve Hamer and Martymn Starnes, both left under a cloud of incompetence, one more than another I will admit. I'm not sure it is. He came in with a let's transform the customer experience attitude. I can't really say that he has done that, in fact you could say it has got worse. But he has been rewarded with a massive promotion.

I wonder how many blow jobs and knuckle shuffles it took for her to get there. I'd say hes come in with a lets gel everyone together attitude from every department inside the club pulling in the same direction. Look at how the club are being represented by people like Pete Weymouth, Adam Tutton and Lucy Husband all leading their various departments superbly. Yes there have been a few teething issues with Ticketmaster and season tickets but by and large, things like catering, the fanzone and other initiatives have been a great success. I've said it before, but if you have a massive grumble, why dont you speak to Helen or Steve at the SC and get them to raise it directly in the boardroom? They are there to hold them all, particularly Tom, to account and they can come back to you. Or are you happy just whinging on an internet forum?

Thanks for the education Topper. For some strange reason my memory is playing up. I was always of the opinion the reason UWE failed was because Wael stated it wasn't commercially viable. The financial odds were stacked in UWEs favour. Must have been a weird dream then, also dreampt that in 2012 Lansdown was given an honorary degree by UWE and became chums with Steve West. Of course it would be too far fetched, or nonsense as you would say, to imagine the chancellor of the UWE asking a local sports club owner who just happens to be a billionaire and hold an honorary degree on how to maximise profit on a sports stadium. Its not like billionaires have no influence, cough, Peter Hargreaves, cough, Brexit. Throw the dissapearance of Bristol Bears into the mix, and the well known pub speech where SL proclaimed to his fellow Sh1!heads that no one will speak of Bristol Rovers in a few years time. Et Voila, its all just 'nonsense' conjured up in a dream.

As a competitor to Bristol city centre you could imagine that having a stadium alongside the arena , the mall and surrounding business & shopping ,resturants ,cinema etc might be the feather in the cap to make it the top destination in the area.

So the UWE approached Rovers with plans for a stadium, then entered into lengthy discussions resulting in the announcement regarding the stadium being partly funded by the sale of the Mem to Sainsbury's then, once the Sainsbury's deal collapsed, entered into further talks twice with the ALQ's, whilst all the time having no intention of proceeding with the development. The UWE hierarchy must have a lot of spare time on their hands if they can all those mans house discussing plans they had no intention of proceeding with.

Call me a snowflake but I think that comment is out of line. That kind of rhetoric is at least five years old, if not 10 years old. I don't think that much has changed, it superficial at best. The fanzone it a great idea. However they seem to have screwed that up. To me the fanzone would be a place to showcase the best of Bristol for pop up food and drinks. It started that way. But from a far it looks like we have screwed over some of the independent traders. It looks like we have used the independent organisations to understand what works and then have brought that in house. Then there is the fact that there is no cover for that area. Then there is the fact that the last home game at half time they removed the flow of people from the fanzone to the bar. A barmy decision. Why did they do that? As a season ticket holder in the Thatchers end. They have removed the disabled porta loos and not actually replaced them. The last home game I used those toilets behind the Thatchers by the gate to the fanzone and they were absolutely disgusting. Lucy Husband may well be bossing it at Corporate Hospitality level but the pastys and sausage rolls behind the Thatchers are substandard. They are very often burnt. I have only had one good pasty this season and that was bought at 14:00 behind the West stand. Does Adam Tutton have a department for Bristol Rovers? Isn't he leading the Community and charitable side of things? Tom Goringe has no control and should have no influence on the community trust, so to say that Adam is performing in his role well due to Tom Gorringe is a little tenuous. I threw down the gauntlet earlier in this thread. What has Tom Gorringe actually done for the club?

I don’t know or have the answers to your toilet or sausage roll questions but as I said before, you could get answers by talking to your SC rep rather than whinging rather anonymously on an Internet forum that none will likely read from the people that need to listen.

What has Tom Gorringe actually done for the club? I don’t know or pretend to know the ins and outs of how the club operates, but what I see at games recently is many more women, children, families together attending, and I see more than ever before with smiles on their faces enjoying the match day experience at The Mem, our fans in general seem to be enjoying the club more, so in my opinion someone is doing something right and as overseer Tom G has to take some credit 👍🏾

It would be good for people like David Bright and Lucy Husband to spend a game on the terraces, sampling the "facilities" and catering on offer in different parts of the ground, throughout the whole matchday. Apart from the fanzone food, I'd say that everything else usually falls well short of acceptable standards.

Yes, that person is JB (and I don't like the man, getting to love the manager though!). JB IS the Manager. The only way I feel comfortable about the situation is by separating the man from the manager. Bit like Jimmy Saville, separating the good that he did as a fund raiser for charity Vs the sicko that he was with helpless children... For me its JB the thug Vs JB the manager, the only way I can do it is to see two different people!

I sense you're living in some dream world if you think talking to an SC rep (assuming you mean a FD?) will get you any answers or actually change anything. Their ability to change anything ended the day BBS quit his FD role.

Utter nonsense to say it's the "match day experience" attracting fans when it's the brilliant team JB's put together that's the attraction. I’d rather you didn’t refer to my opinions as ‘utter nonsense’ but whatever rocks your boat. I'd say that it's a mixture of things. You certainly need a team that's playing well, and in this case, also playing attractive football, to bring people who aren't diehards out of their homes. Once you get them here, you've got to make them want to come back again, and again, even if things dip a bit on the pitch. That's where TG comes in - compare the club shop now, to what it used to be when it was on the corner of the East Stand, the fanzone with decent food and pre-match entertainment, the bars in the clubhouse have been smartned up from what they were a few seasons ago. If he could get the bogs and in ground catering sorted, that would really help though!
