Where does this leave Belly? And crucially, has he got the stomach for it? Sorry.

He needs a haircut if he thinks he's starting on Saturday.
Welcome young un.

Wouldn’t be surprised to see him straight into Saturdays lineup.
I think this is a good sign from Wael/Joey, we are not settling for where we are, we are pushing on. A bittersweet signing I’m afraid.
Of course one feel’s immediately sad for Belly who was fantastic last season, however Joe has given him half a season to prove he can step up and I think he has decided he’s not quite up to taking us to the next level.

I dunno about this, recalled from Crawley who are sitting 21st in the league below us.. and by the looks of things Balcombe's been shipping goals left right and centre. Obviously I know one man isn't a team, and that he needs a good group in front of him, but on paper this doesn't look like a good bit of business at all ... Still, it's a loan for half a season.

He’d have to be bloody good to be better than Belshaw. I really don’t think we need another keeper Belly is decent league 1 standard and Anssi is fine as cover. Even if he is better than belly we’ll be replacing a keeper we own with a loan. Fingers crossed this works out and obviously we still need at least two central defenders and a left back minimum.

Agree with everything you’ve said…. Apart from Annsi being fine as cover. His last outing in the tinpot was one of the worst keeping displays I’ve seen in years. Time to slip into full time coaching for the big man.

Welcome to the Land Of The Gas Ellery.
James Belshaw is a marvellous goalkeeper.
However, he has needed genuine competition to continue his best form.
Anssi is as much a coach as a first team keeper.
Jed is still learning his art.
Competition is good for both James and Ellery.

If he goes straight in then not sure on this one No keeper can keep clean sheets behind our defence this season.

Pretty much what I was thinking, especially as Belshaw had been given a new deal recently. Although would be strange for Brentford to recall him while he's playing regular games for Crawley, just to sit on our bench.

No idea if this guy is any good but we definitely need someone pushing Belly who has let in some soft goals this season.

Yeah I strongly suspect we have given Brentford assurances of game time for the lad. They wouldn't have recalled him to sit on our bench in the hope that Belly is injured or has a complete loss of form. In which case it isn't so much competition for Belshaw as it is a complete (yet temporary) replacement

I dont see the point of this signing, unless, Belly is carrying an injury that needs rest or even surgery.
