I'm gonna go against the grain here and say I think we will sign him as one of 3 new strikers this summer on a free (Peterborough have told him he is to find a new club and is released) and he will turn out to be a good squad player .... He will score goals next season and I'll stick my neck out and say I think he'll get 5-10 goals in 25 appearances and will get around 5 assists.... I see a lot of potential in him - I think he's been unlucky in not playing much first half of the season (odd 5 mins here or there) and was rotated second half and with pressure of everyone saying he had to be Matty T.... With pre-season with us, new season and new slate I think he'll come good Now that's called optimism ...hope you're right but think you are wrong... two goals in three seasons and now will start scoring ever 3 or 4 games?

If Luke James is the answer I don't know what the question is?

Really think LJ needs to drop down a level or two and rediscover how to score goals again, or perhaps even forget about being a striker and play a BB type role on the right wing.

Luke James has had plenty of time to prove if he is worth signing and IMHO has totally failed to do so. His club Peterborough have signed Miller from right under our noses and I would be very disappointed if we take a failed signing off their hands, in order to free up money for Millers wages. Lets all be honest here, if Millwall had James up front last Saturday instead of Morrison we would have been celebrating a victory and the lions would not be in the play offs.

I know I am the eternal optimist but how much of a serious reasonable chance did Luke James have with us last season? How many consecutive games did he start and stay on the pitch for the majority of the match? And also in a situation where he could grow with the squad in a non pressurised situation? (e.g. At the start of the season when the pressure is less) I remember at least 2 of our prolific strikers of past going 10 and 16 games starting and staying on the pitch for at least 70mins not scoring and both ended up top scorers for us in seasons. Also a number of strikers in the game have moved clubs, had a crap first season but then gone on to be prolific the following.... A lot of LJs game is really positive - it's just his goal return that has been poor this season. (Can't comment on previous as for other clubs a lot of appearances were as sub or out of position on the wing)..... Dont get me wrong, I don't think he's a shoe in first choice striker but I do believe he'd be a good squad striker who if played alongside the right complimentary partner would score goals..... Tin hat on!.....

True but look at Dickie Walker, Lambert, Roberts, Taylor when they first joined and what they became (ok maybe stretching a bit with Walker as he only had a couple of decent seasons with us).... I know I'm the odd one out and may potentially need to come back this time next year and say ok I was wrong but I just see a lot of potential to work with in him....

Akinde and miller for me,where do Peterborough get all their money from? I work with a posh fan and asked him the same question. Apparently they make money on loaning players out - so although they have a big squad, financially it's working for them.

Didn't DC play JCS at the back on Sunday with a view to next season? Yet James was on the bench behind a player who had just been released. I hope that tells us that we wont be seeing him again. We all trust DC so lets see what happens. In true Rovers fashion if he does go elsewhere expect him to score goals, especially against us!

I like Luke James's work rate and I think he was very unlucky not to score. BUT - he wasn't scoring at Peterborough, he hasn't scored with us, and they've signed a non league striker and let James go. Says a lot about what they see in his potential.

I think if he grew three inches and whacked on a stone he'd be useful
But I still think we might sign him 🤔

If I played for rovers I would run my nuts off and do f**k all but nobody wants to sign me this summer.

A few pro-James fans saying give him a chance, other players we've had have turned out to be prolific after slow starts....then say James will probably never be first choice anyway. Sorry if you're putting him in the same category as lambert, Roberts and the snake, surely you'd want him to start every game?
We desperately need two new quality first team strikers at the club.
IMO the fact even people who want to see him given a chance think he probably won't be first choice says everything. Says to me everyone has seen enough of him to realise he won't cut it in this league.
Leave him well alone until he grows a foot height and width wise
