The lad has ability you just have to look at his early goals for Hartlepool. Why he is as goal-shy as he is though is a total mystery.
I don't think he will be as cheap as everyone thinks either in terms of wages as Peterborough bought him for £600k(?) and with a decent transfer fee generally comes a decent wage.
If he goes on to someone else and scores shedloads then so be it, that's football and for his sake I hope he does, but he has had enough chances to show us what he can do and has failed so far, as he has with Bradford and Peterborough.
Won't he be as cheap as somebody is prepared to pay him now, not what he was paid by P'boro, as I can only see Div 2 teams at best offering him a contract this summer. Perhaps if he's firing goals in during train without any pressures of expectations then he's worth a punt if he only wants low wages.
I thought he still had a year left on his Posh contract? If so why move to another team on greatly reduced wages when he can probably sit on his current contract and go on loan again.

That's correct, although reading this article suggests they want to sell the transfer listed players, not give them all free transfers. www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/39791199Although it could be they will be prepared to contribute towards his wages again next season just to get him, partially, off the wage bill.

Good luck to them trying to get money for James, although id take Maddison off them. Thats the trouble with Peterborough, they buy everything that moves and wonder why they have so many players

Dear 'ol Barry Fry can't resist a deal...miss his old mate Flashman (RIP)... both larger than like characters both literally and metaphorically. Still well worth looking at their released list (with exception of James).

I'd take Luke back. I know he never scored but he assisted in several goals and his skills are worthy of our team. To be fair to him most of the time we pumped high balls to him and expected him to reach his full five foot, f**k all, and win the ball. Maybe if he was here permanently they could learn to play it to his feet and see what he could do. But, at the end of the day, we have no idea what DC is thinking so I am happy to leave it up to him. I think he knows a bit more about it than the rest of us. I just can't wait until the start of the next season. What the heck am i going to do on my Saturdays until August?

Not saying I think we should sign him (we definitely should not), just stating a fact.

Also hit the woodwork 3 times and had several good saves from his shots - I think more unlucky than useless.

Not good enough if we want to improve. Can't release Easter and sign somebody like Luke James.

This is one of those threads that gets resurrected in twelve months after our 30 goal striker sought after by a host of Clubs has fired us to the Championship !! ... and the name of that Striker is ?...... I don't believe it either but dreaming is still allowed for the moment anyway !! ggmi bumped this thread which he started nearly TWO YEARS AGO!! So 12 months is nothing to him!!!

Total assists = 0 James has had 4 assists - 2 in the league, 2 in the cups. This is the full assist list (all in the league unless indicated): Lines 12 (8 League) Leadbitter 5 (4 League) Bodin 5 Brown 4 Harrison 4 James 4 (2 League) Montano 3 (3 League) Gaffney 3 (3 League) Hartley 2 Easter 1 J Clarke 1 Moore 1

Assuming those figures are correct then Moore having just the 1 assist is a shocker, although not surprising, given his main role in the team is to create chances, although Monty didn't do a lot better.

Assists are an almost completely meaningless stat. You could beat 5 players on your way to the byline and play an inch perfect pass to the far post where your teammate is waiting unmarked, only for them to scuff it 6 inches out and for another team mate to bundle it in to the net and your pal that's missed an absolute sitter gets an assist against their name. That's why it's such a divisive game - rarely do stats tell the whole story.

Your scenario could happen once, maybe twice, but the balance of probability over a season is that if you have a high number of assists, you've been a big asset to the team. You could equally say that goal stats are meaningless as it could hit you on the arse and bounce in whilst you are turning the other way to chat to the ref.

Didn't get enough time in the first team. He can be a quality player when he wants to be, I fully expect him to feature a lot more next season.
