Hiya, Tranmere fan here, Seen you have JMW on trial, I really hope for your sake you steer well clear of him, he was rubbish for us- terrible in fact- in a poor side anyway. Ask most Tranmere fans and 99% would rather Baggie came back than JMW He was lazy did not track back and by all accounts was not good in the dressing room either Got so bad he was booed in the last few games then went out the squad altogether I think the amount of clubs he has had at 27 says it all really Problem is every relegated team seems to have bad apples who then go elsewhere and have a good season. I doubt Lines was flavour of the month at PV last season.

Why would DC just want to make up the numbers, that just seems a waste of everybodies time? I can't really understand all the forum negativity when we have players on trial/even sign them as DC's shown he has an eye for a good signing, I can't think of one bad perminent signing, apart from Balatna who always appeared an NH panic signing and even he contributed a couple of vitial goals. Why don't we just learn to be patient and judge the players in the quarters not assumer they'll all be poor signings like PB/MM?JW made? How is it that every signing that doesn't make the grade are by the board but every successful one is made by DC,sorry cant buy into that reasoning You're so anti DC it's become annoying.

So how about the other two permanent signings and the goalie?

Monkhouse was a model pro, great in the dressing room, scored goals, got assists, worked hard, and was technically one of the best in the squad last season. Just saying

No thanks from me. I've totally already made up my mind. Triallists found guilty and sentenced to the wilderness shocker!

Ajala.... Myrie Williams.... If JMW can find some of that form from his port vale days he would be a great signing. Cracking penalty taker too by the looks of that video!

Hugo im at lost how you can totally make your mind up without seeing any of them play more than a few games at the most. You can only rate a player based on how they play for us because certain players fit in to a certain style of play and can be excellent for one club and poor for another. Do you have no confidence in DC's ability to select a player? If DC thinks any of these triallists are good enough then that is good enough for me and I will be totally behind them. I certainly won't be making my mind up without seeing them. If I did go on what i have seen of players then Myrie Williams would be a definite to sign but he is the only one who I can ho0nestly say has caught the eye when we have played against them.

a trialist is surely a player who cant automatically get a contract at rovers level for various reasons but who the manager considers is worth looking at for a bit? nothing wrong with this for me especially as we have already signed 3 players that dc believes will improve the team/squad,,,we might find a gem at lower cost from such a player

(I think) Yes, it was a little bit of subtle humour. However, my honest opinion would be to try to find out why a player has had a new club almost once a season. That would concern me more thanks his ability which he clearly must have.

I don't think he is worthy of the smoke getting blown up his hoop by some. He was employed as a wide attacking player. Had no pace, went missing for long periods, couldn't beat a player, couldn't shoot and he is old. Some of these lads have got inflated reputations due to the opposition last season, most of them are league players so it is a false reading imo. To say he's got more in his toe than they have combined is a little ott.

Anybody else looking forward to the one game snap judgements on Sat/Sun? It's one of the most exciting parts of preseason!
"Got to sign him" "Looked out of his depth" "Unfit" "Scored a hat trick so he's a 20 goal a season man" amongst others.
I literally cannot wait!!*

Both JMW and TA are talented players. I thought Toby gave us a lot of trouble last season sharp quick and worked very hard, he looked like a real gem to me. JMW is a different type of player who has unlocked teams at a higher level than Rovers. I would rank both these players above Bodin. I know nothing about the keeper but am surprised that we are looking at him given that we have two keepers under contract.

I am ambivalent to him and await to get the miraculous conversion that the majority have undergone on here.At present he is an unproven quantity as a football league manager Correct of course. he's only had 8 games as FL manager. But the absence of evidence at that level isn't the evidence of absence. So, what does a non-lge manager do, on a day-to-day basis at a Full-time club? [DC has 3 promotions in 4 seasons, all with FT clubs] Look for players? Check Trial, loan and evaluate players? Check Sign players? Check Juggle / balance budgets? Check Manage players on a day-to-day? Check Try to help / manage any problems / gripes they have? Check Decide tactics? Check Take charge on match day? Check Research the opposition? Check Motivation / psychology? Check Make decisions on players when out of contract? Check Manage fitness regimes and physios? Check Deal with your Board of Directors? Check Deal with the press? Check Manage a relationship with your fans? Check Liaise with agents? Check Deal with pressure? Check Manage injuries, suspensions, loss of form, etc? Check Manage your own back room staff? Check Set an ethos for your work? Check How different is any of that to managing 1 lge higher? He's had promotions at Level 5, 6 & 7. I take that as a positive. You seem to take it as a negative.
