Righto Topper. Take it you knew the England C players then? Hands up. I didn't. What do you call regularly btw? I've watched Rovers pretty steadily since 87. Not all of them but I didn't need to search goolge to find out LB etc played for England last season with other Conference players To suggest AM was poor, LB average last season for a regular Rovers fan is a bit odd given what we've had to put up with on the pitch since Lambert left. I didn't take much notice of the C call ups for him and Parkesy. I didn't rate AM as a winger. LB had a great year for us last season but I think he is an average defender. He is sluggish, looks unfit at times, is often caught way out of position against teams that deploy a wide man. Can't tackle, his right foot is non existent and he is too quiet. All that being said, he has been part of a fairly successful defensive unit for us the last few years. I youtubed a couple of games earlier looking for Parkes slipups but actually witnessed a few examples of LB getting exploited down the left. Eastleigh, Braintree and a few others. I appreciate we are where we are though so not too many complaints. It's just worth debate on here. LB will be fantastic next year with an attacker in front of him since he won't have as much to do defensively.

All of our defenders needlessly give the ball away far far too often with hopeful punts. A short pass is usually on but especially Macca and Parkes are looking for a hero pass too often. Small strikers equals loss of possession much of the time.

Surely he could also get injured in training? Although you do wonder why any player risks a trial of any type where they could pick up an injury. Think DC would be doing non contact atm with it being early pre season.

Football is all about opinions you have yours I have mine,we can all make lists of plus and minus at the end of the day they mean diddly squat, you can make a case either way and at this moment in time I am undecided as to whether he will succeed or not,its just that I am not overly impressed with the going back to his old clubs players, rather than expand his horizons I agree that DC needs more seasons as manager to show if he can sustain success and at a higher level, but I am happy with him so far and won't hold the relegation season against him. As for getting players from his old club, this isn't anything new. How many Rovers players did Francis sign for QPR and how many QPR players did we sign in return? It seems poor as we are not used to non league teams. Padstow - would you feel the same if it were L2 to L1 and not from the Conference? Werent QPR at least 1 division above us when GF signed the players rather than 2 divisions below

Sweeping statement, they may well be prepared to work, could be their only chance to break into the league and I would be astonished if they didn't.As for the proud bit,not necessarily proud to be at Rovers more likely proud of themselves for getting a contract, just a subtle difference. That doesn't mean they will be good enough for the level they are now going to be playing at,only time will tell, whereas the "journeymen" who are castigated widely on the Rovers forums arte normally players who have plied their trade at a higher level and have proved they can do it.Just because a player is nearing the end of his career does not mean he is just here for a last pay day and an easy ride. Most professionals I know are proud they can still play the game and want to play as long as they can,so if they have that attitude they will soon be found out and it will go around the grapevine very quickly.I wish I could still play at the level I did in my 20s but no chance,if I could I would give it my all the same as most players.

Yet still played every (or near enough every?) game for us last season in a promotion winning side? Not bad. I don't agree that he went missing for long periods and couldn't shoot. I also don't see how him being slow and not being able to beat a player is a bad thing, as teams need to be balanced and have a mixture to be successful. The blend worked with him in the side and his partnership down the left with Brown was a key part in our success. If Monkhouse was a marauding out-and-out winger then that partnership would have been very different, and perhaps not as effective. Plus, if he had pace and could beat a man then he'd be in League One or the Championship I reckon. No winger will score 10 goals for us next season - called it. We have different views mate and that's fine. If he was that we'll regarded by those that count, he wouldn't have left. Also if that left side was so effective, why is DC looking at proper wingers instead of a like for like? Seems it's just me on here that considers our opposition for the majority of last season. Our players were mainly lg standard, full time pros. We should have good stats and done well, which we did. That imo over values our players because they were mismatched most of the time. Our left side would get absolutely tortured against better opponents because AM offers such little threat going forwards that a RW could just cheat all game! Not only that but LB is average too. IMO. All well and good against Welling and Alfreton though. yeah, that left side had a shocker last season. idiots couldn;t even get injured an let someone else have a chance. Glad when martin was here because then Monky played on right and Martin did so well on the left. Can't believe DC stopped playing martin and let him finish his loan. He was on fire. 12 goals and 12 assists. they were bloody stealing a livin! Good riddance Monkhouse. Brown is so unfit. very lucky to play 186 matches in 4 seasons. chancer. no discipline problems, no bookings, no arguments with the crowd. Not even a bloody rape case to deal with. what's wrong with them? That's not the Rovers ethos!

Lee Brown not good enough?!
No idea who you have been watching but it couldn't have been our Lee Brown. He is has been one of our best players for a few years now and could probably walk into most league 2 teams. I personally think Lee could play Championship football if he continues to progress.

Have you ever stood in the blackthorn end right side? You'll hear some moaning in there! Unbelievable, sometimes we are comfortably winning and still they chirp off!

Unbelievable, sometimes we are comfortably winning and still they chirp off! yep. and I've mentioned it several times in my articles. all in the public domain. those are the people I'm talking about. and people on this forums and others who are just the same, especially people who are 'in the know' and have huge chips on their shoulders from something that happened in the past.

yes I know. mentioned it in my articles. 1 solitary, questionable sending off, in the 87th minute, is not a discipline problem. Several are, and/or lots of yellows. Neither player has that. In fact LB had ZERO this season. maybe he should actually get more as I'm sure someone will use it against him soon.

Some people there need some psychiatric intervention.
