Who's he going to start ahead of? Lines hasn't played for weeks so who would you drop in favour of a 34 year old? Mansell is getting on for that age and Sincs has been carrying a knock. I guess either of them may benefit from a rest. Looks like curtains for Lines though. Heh heh. Curtains.

It seem Lawrence now plays a central role and not out wide, if he comes straight into the squad you wonder where that leaves Lines? We played with Monkhouse last year on the wing and I think Lawrence could do the same job but better. Just because Shrewsbury were using him as a CM doesn't mean we have to!

Anyone still dissapointed we've almost certainly missed out on Gaffney? Not particularly, he's a good player but he's replaceable. Would I be disappointed if nobody else came in and we missed out on Gaffney? Yes.

At the end of the day, Gaffney was fairly low down DCs list of striker targets at the time he was signed anyway (RG has said this himself in an interview).
I believe we'd already missed out on 3/4 other strikers before signing him, including one on the final day of the emergency loan window (before we got Gaffney later that day).
So no doubt DC will have a number of other strikers in mind that he'd like to bring in if Gaffney is a no-go.

Anyone still dissapointed we've almost certainly missed out on Gaffney? How can fans say there aren't disappointed when he scored 4 gaols in 2 games over the Festive season? Whether he's a big loss or DC can find a similar player will become clearer come the 31 January, altohugh given our record with CF's lately finding a simlar player may not be as easy as some fans seem to think.

I'm VERY upset we missed out on Gaffney. I thought he was class and added an extra dimension to our attack. On top of that he seemed like a top bloke too

Sooooo disappointed if we dont get gaffney! Especially when a 'bid' would get the deal done. Of course Cambridge are going to want a fee after there initial thoughts about his ability have come to fruition when they gambled on him from ireland. Need to put our hands in pockets for this one! Best big man since lambert and playing along side taylor would = promotion!

I agree with TommyB on Gaffney and the speed or lack of it in announcing a signing today makes me think that we will go to Barnet on Saturday minus a centre forward and lacking in any further additions. We need a big centre forward now and definitely can't wait till the end of the season! I can honestly see another club coming in with a cash offer for Gaffney and it wouldn't surprised me if it was someone like Barnet whilst we do our usual dawdling. it is a shame the Board weren't a bit sensible with money in the last 10 years but they are certainly making up for it now.

Of course dissapointent he isnt here (yet). But not only do i think that a deal can still be done, but I'm confident DC will have other decent options if he has to. We are in a great position, we will be able to pull in some targets we couldn't 2 months ago. Everyone wants a bite at promotion.

Got shot down on here last week (naming no names) by Topper Gas for suggesting the Gaffney deal was not going to be so straight forward.
Still hold out hope, we have no idea what is going on behind closed doors this week. Still can't wait for the Barnet game whatever happens.
