Where exactly have I criticised you? I've just asked questions and given an oppinion. I want the same as you I want to see more from Ellis. You are entitled to criticize. I just don't believe constant criticism (and I was really referring to the collective criticism on here) of a player is going to improve his game. Much respect for your 61 years of watching the gas I've only been watching for a mere 50. Collective criticism is normally justified as why would so many have the same opinion? We all love Ellis and get hugely frustrated with him. People talk about him being 'only 23'well I don't think that's young in terms of personal maturity and maybe that's one thing he needs to look at What I am saying is that he has been given the money, support and opportunity by Rovers and judging by yesterday's performance he hasn't grown as a player or character wise. Just one of many things that frustrates me about him is how often he hits the deck. He is a hold up player and should be learning/taught to be stronger. As a long time fan could you see Biggs, Warboys or Lambert going down like that? As you know potential means absolutely nothing. Can you remember Roger Frude who played for us in the the 60's 'the new Johnny Haynes he was called,a lad with fantastic potential but sadly like so many players the years catch up with them before that potential is realised. I really don't want this to happen to Ellis. Sorry can't agree with your first point just because some people have an oppinion does not make it justified or right especially as there are just as many others who have a different opinion. I respect your oppinion and you have put across a good argument. However I don't share that oppinion so we'll have to agree to dissagree. Roger Frude was a bit before my time but one that springs to mind as promising so much and failing to deliver is Jamie Forrester.

Ok I've just watched the highlights. Not only should Ellis be a bit embarrassed about his feeble pass, but the thrower needs to have a word with himself. He should have made himself available for the return pass. Likewise the Leftback, he can see Ellis is being closed and is the best option. All he needed to do was move left a yard and call the ball. After the pass, there were the 2 CBs still to have an effect plus the GK.
I know he ain't the most popular but to chastise him for that is harsh imo.

I don't think anyone is complaining about the back pass. Most posters seem to be going out of their way to point out that that one mistake is not the issue.

It was a major unforced error, simple as that, he should have chosen one of umpteen different options before that one. He isn't being picked on simply because he is Ellis, Harris also got stick for his own goal last week as he should have cleared it with his right foot. Mistakes get picked up and debated a lot in football that's the way it is.

The backpass just capped it off.

The back pass is the trigger for his criticism this week though. Without that, there wouldn't be a thread about him. There are pelters on Twitter too.

Outwith of the terrible back pass, the rest of his performance was very very poor! James did not offer much apart from 100% effort, Ellis's effort was non existent, any ball not within a yard of him was ignored.

Im sure Ellis was basking in the adulation from fans and media alike after his hat-trick, the thing is he seems to think he only has to put in a shift every now and again or when he seems bothered. Thats why he gets stick. We can see he has potential but for some reason isnt fulfilling it and that is a great shame to see.

Would play Bodin alongside Harrison up top, and put montano on the wing against Bolton.

Being serious I would think Ellis is chomping at the bit I wouldn't be at all surprised if DC started him at Bolton and I think it may well work!!👍

You can argue that all night long, but the fact is he made a backwards pass from midway inside the opposition half when there were far better options. It smacked of casualness which is something common in Ellis' game and always has been.

Maybe, but firstly, if it wasn't for the back pass then there is no way we would be having this discussion in the depth we have today, if at all. Secondly, the back pass happened 10 minutes into his half an hour appearance, which clearly has had an effect on the rest of his game. These things combined have caused an overreaction, in my opinion, caused by an honest, if stupid, mistake.

ok here is my 2 pence worth...
it was a mistake, they all make them
Lines made a load yesterday, can't see anybody have a moan about him.
I can't judge Ellis football ability, cause i know cockall about form & tactics
What i do know is Ellis has the No 9 on his back, so bloodywell act like one.
Yesterday he took to the pre match warm up with a scarf on...
The other week he came out with a hot water bottle in his hand
Stop acting like a tart and be a centre forward

Having seen it I thought it was hell of a through ball, inch perfect that Madden tried his hardest to muck up! Only bettered by Lindsey Parson's headed own goal against Villa!!!!!

My view is, he's been given more chances than Nigel Havers, is there a fan who thinks he will play for a better club than ours?? I personally think he would struggle to play for Newport!!

Who can think of a song for Ellis Harrison. I saw it real live, and I saw it on TV. Their striker wasn't offside, you can't be from a backpass, see? Open your eyes, and just try to find row Z It was a poor pass, you won't get no sympathy, Coz it's easy come, easy go, little high, little low, The way you pass it, does really matter to DC, ...DC. Ellis, we should have killed the game. Kick it or use your head, Put the ball back in Row Zed. Ollie had just scored one But now you've gone and thrown it all away. Darrell, ooooh You didn't mean to make him cry But he knows we'll only end up in mid table We'll carry on, carry on, but it probably doesn't matter. He's just a poor boy, nobody loves him He's just a poor boy from a Welsh family Spare him from this or he'll go and watch city. Easy come, easy go, we should let it go. (Last minute Winners): f**k that noise, no, we will not let it go. (Padstow):Let it go! (Last minute Winners): f**k that noise, no, we will not let it go. (Padstow):Let it go! (Last minute Winners): f**k that noise, no, we will not let it go. (Padstow):Let it go! (Everyone):No, we will not let it go, We'll never let it go. No, no, no, no, no, no! Oh, for f**ks sake, for f**ks sake, just let it go. Darrell Clarke has to find an eleven for mid week. For mid week For mid week. So you think he was useless when we were in the C So you think he was useless when we were league 2 Or maybe, you remember what he did at Wembley He got us out, he got us right out of there. Ooh yeah, oooh yeah, That was such a crappy backpass Anyone can see That looks like a crappy backpass, to me. What a crappy backpass... I'll be expecting everyone to know their parts by Tuesday.
