Yes well done I was having a laugh!! But congratulations to you for not getting bullied👏👏 Its quite important because ive noticed in the 6 away matches ive been to this season we have quite a few bullies masquerading as rovers fans and they dont care if there bullying opposition fans or ours.

I have been supporting Rovers since 1971. I have visited 75 grounds (league and non league) and yesterday ranks as my worst ever experience at an away fixture. I was encouraged that the majority of fans might actually behave themselves and also sit in the seat number allocated on their ticket. So the 7 of us (including my Dad, Son, Sister and Brother in law) arrived in the ground about 2.10pm. So far so good and that continued with I estimate about 90 to 95% of fans being considerate to their fellow fans. From about 2.50pm an increasing number of young men decided to congregate on the steps, with clearly no intention of finding their allocated seat. This led to many fans views, including my own, being either wholly or partially blocked. When asked to move or sit down we were subject to a torrent of verbal abuse (c, f, w words in abundance) and threatening violence. They all appeared to be under the influence of alcohol and only cared about themselves. I did speak to both a Steward and a police officer at half time but to no avail. Many of the said young men (I do not descibe them as Bristol Rovers fans) returned after half time. These young men were the most obnoxious, drunken, vile, selfish individuals that I have had the misfortune to meet at a football match. The abuse they gave to fans around me was disgusting. I had really been looking forward to Coventry away, since the fixtures were issued, because it was an opportunity to add another ground to my list.. Although I will continue to support Rovers at home (I have had a season ticket for over 30 years, always join the supporters club and am a share scheme member), I am unlikely to attend any further away matches. I can accept a bad result, the team playing poorly and even Chris Lines making more passes to the opposition than his team mates! However these individuals are a throw back to the bad days of football. Unfortunately it still exists in 2017. I am guessing you were in the same area as myself and my family, I too was disappointed by the lack of action from both the stewards and police who seemed to clear a lot of the aisles but ignored the one just to the left of the goal. I too am a season ticket holder and love going to away grounds, I will continue to go away but I will sadly be going on my own in future as I am not prepared to put my family in that situation again.

I had a similar experience at the swindon game. A group of morons turned up just as the game was kicking off. They stood in the walk way and proceeded to put up a large golf umbrella, totally obscuring the view for at least half a dozen people. When remonstrated, they told us to f... of somewhere where we could see. They became extremely aggressive and both stewards and police were unwilling to act. We really need to tackle this problem. Don't know the answer. Maybe (if it's safe) take a photo of the offenders and hand it over to the club so they can be identified and weeded out?

I totally agree, I and my 16yr old son were sat about 6 rows back behind the goal, there were 3 young lads next to me who were no bother at HT this idiot in his late 30s appeared completely passed and plonked himself down, fair play to the lads they just moved along. Throughout the 2nd half this guy just kept jumping up and down shouting abuse at the Coventry fans never watched the game much and when he did just shouted abuse at our players! His lack of understanding of football was breathtaking, luckily after about half hour he buggered off, I will defend anyone's rights however, with that comes responsibility to not screw up everyone else's enjoyment. As for the shouting out during the minutes silence it made me for the first time in 50yrs embarrassed to be a Rovers supporter.

To be honest I didn't sit in my allocated seat, I'm Normally one to stand up and come in late, but Saturday I didn't even have a clue where to start looking for where I was meant to go especially with a good few ciders on board.. so I just went and stood in the corner where there were loads of empty seats.. I'm not gonna go looking at seat numbers and rows when there's hundreds Stood in aisles confused..

We were sat (in our own seats) a couple of rows back from the steps to the left of the goal, just after ko the late comers(drinkers?) were just blocking the top of the steps with little or no intention of finding their seats. Most of these "fans" were middle aged, not youngsters at all. After a few minutes I asked the young steward(too young really to move these morons) to get them to move. He was doing his best, but they just ignored him. A couple of us asked them to move, but as expected was told to F off etc. I went again to speak the steward who said the supervisor was coming up to deal with it. To be fair to the supervisor,he eventually got them to move. A couple of police arrived and the problem was resolved. For the rest of the match it was mostly ok.

Supporters of most other clubs seem capable of finding their seat and then sit or stand in their allocated place...if there are spaces once the game starts then it seems to be OK to move. Too many are simply looking for problems and a reason to get annoyed.

The more fans we take away the higher the number of mindless morons seem to show up unfortunately. using foul, abusive language and threatening women with violence because they have their view blocked and asked them to move is as low as you can get in my book.
I have already booked and paid for the hotel in Peterborough so will be going, I am really not looking forward to being put through that sort of treatment from our own supporters again.
They don't scare me I'm 6" tall and ugly enough to look after myself, but the disrespect they showed and their selfish drunken attitude makes me ashamed that they follow the Gas. There is a team south of the river that need to fill a stadium that's too big for them, go and stand in the aisles there handing out abuse, you'll fit right in.

This puts you in the majority but unfortunately it is the small minority that ruin it.

Agree with many of the sentiments of posters on this thread, like all clubs we have a minority of idiots. Away days like this can bring out the worst in a lot of people, bit I have noticed this recently at several other games too. The popularity of the private coaches has increased this behaviour with the early starts and posting clever pictures of cider with breakfast before the journey. A long coach journey (Rochdale away springs to mind) with beer on board all the way results in the last minute push and shove into non existent spaces where the normal supporters have taken their seats in good time. Dare to question it or ask them to move and you're met with a torrent of abuse because getting on the water at 8am apparently makes you a better gashead and allows you to bully your way around when you eventually stagger into the away section. Just saying like......

If I remember correctly the Rochdale game didn't have allocated seating which made it a lot better because all the pished up idiots could sit as close to the home fans as possible and out of my way Don't understand allocated seating for away fans

Shrewsbury too saw the Ray Winstone brigade causing unpleasantness and arriving to-gether 5 minutes before KO totally watered.Dealt with eventually by a very patient steward by which time parents and children had moved away.Away games are not only proving bad on the field but these elderly Yobs are adding to the misery. One old boy Sat, complete with earrings and a tattooed neck could hardly stand.I sat him down quietly next to me with words of advice not to upset the stewards and all he wanted to do was find the bar!!!!! Then fell asleep till H.T.Left for a drink and didn't return to his seat.
