I don't understand how Posh can turn down an offer unless he's already signed a contract. I thought you could only sign pre-contracts when someone is in the last month of their current one (so June most of the time). Am I mistaken in this or does it mean Posh had to agree a deal with Dover to sign him before he was available on a free? I'm sure they said on the BBC Sport page he signed for the posh, as soon as his Dover contracr expired? Yes I think that's right. But surely his Dover contract won't expire until end of June which is the norm?

So another league 1 club has offered the Posh £250k for Miller even though he's barely set foot in the place?! I wonder who. They've turned it down btw. Posh chairman wants him to win the golden boot, and he probably will. m.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/39882334Edit: just seen already mentioned on LJ thread Probably? He didn't set the world alight in his previous brief football league spell so it's far from a given he'll score goals at this level. Players have banged them in for fun in non-league for years and struggled to make the step up.

That's classed as an "international" transfer so different rules apply, perhaps National league contracts finish when the season ends, or Dover just agreed he could leave a month early. I wonder if we offered were the club rumoured to have offered the £250K as what other club as that type of money for a striker in Div 1, given that we apparently were interested in signing him in January? Although saying he's going to win the Golden Boot is nonsense given he struggled prevously even at Div 1 level and is co striker from last season hardly kept up his goals scroed ratio.

None of those players were signed from clubs in theEighth tier of English football so my reply stands as it was. As for the tail end quip of yours😴 Ellington signed from Walton and Hersham and Barry Hayles from Stevenage - both of those clubs were then in the southern counties league - but I think you miss the point McQueen and Tarpey are young players verging on breaking into the league proper - as were most of our current squad Stevenage were Conference champions the season before we signed Barry Hayles. The only reason they weren't promoted to Division 3 as it was then is because their ground wasn't up to the required standard.

I'm sure we were scouting Hayles and ended up signing Steve Foster too because he did so well marking him. Always rated Fozzie.

I reckon he's bitten off more than he can chew by signing for Posh. But I bet he's champing at the bit to make an impression.

Peterborough statement issued today
The football club wish to report that Ricky Miller is unavailable for training and team selection due to personal illness and related circumstances. We will be working with him and trying to help in every way that we can as a football club. The players’ welfare is paramount and the football club will not be adding to this statement at this time.

Hasn't scored for them either and has only made 7 appearances.

Assaulted a copper a few days ago! What sort of illness that? Think he was well worth keeping away from.
