You've missed the point. Sainsbury's pulling out made us a very attractive proposition and that was why Higgs was approached with more than one offer. There was no money left, we had to resort to a wonga loan and we had planning permission for a ground which we couldn't build. I think you are missing the point as to why many people are still angry with Shamesbury's to be honest. It is extremely dubious that they ever intended building a supermarket and that they made a ridiculously high offer to buy the stadium in the full knowledge that they would never have to go through with the purchase because the contract had more holes in it than Ellis Harrison's socks. In other words the promise to buy the land was just to prevent any of their competitors building a store and they were just stringing NH and all of us along.
It may well be that BRFC are now in a better situation but Shamesbury's sure as hell did not know at the time they dropped the bombshell that a white knight would come along and save us. Having served our purpose they were quite happy to cut us loose not giving one sh** about the chaos BRFC then had to deal with.
Ps. I'm pretty sure your first name isn't Sherlock (joke by the way).
I agree with every word of what you say other than I do realise what Sainsbury's motives were and if Higgs's solicitors were worth their hefty fees I'm sure he would have known the risks from the start. My feeling now is that unknown to Sainsbury's they have actually done us a favour and for that I thank them.

Yes Sainsbury's must have known that a wealthy benefactor was waiting in the wings to pick up the pieces from Higgs debacle. Of course they didn't and it's just very lucky that happened because if it hadn't we would probably have lost dc and be actively selling our best players at the end of each season and would now be in league 2 at best in a relegation scrap. Sound familiar? You've missed the point. Sainsbury's pulling out made us a very attractive proposition and that was why Higgs was approached with more than one offer. There was no money left, we had to resort to a wonga loan and we had planning permission for a ground which we couldn't build. and you think Sainsbury's gave a F##k about that they would quite happily have seen us go to the wall. Missed point ffs

Amazes me that gas heads on here in the minority mind defend Sainsburys. If it wasn't for Lee Mansells penalty those debts probably would've sent us to the wall and we wouldnt have a club anymore.

Well I think they welched on the deal when they realised that they couldn't carry on buying up land on a whim and making it viable at that time, but as for doing us a favour it certainly wasn't intentional.

If it wasn't for Gareth Taylor's miss from 3 yards... Or Northamptons late goal... Sainsburys are a massive company who got massive by making the correct business decisions in a competitive market. Our club has been run in a shambolic fashion and the BoDs watertight BS and stringing everybody along with appeals etc is nobody's fault but their own. How we cheered when MT scored goals after shaking hands on a deal elsewhere!

Congrats, technically you're right well done, but why you feel the need to write out that rhetoric on the Gas forum is distasteful imho.

Don't see the need for your underhand comments to be honest, it's called a difference of opinion, I don't know gashead79 personally but I don't see why you would question his attitude over his post ?

Because I and many others find it distasteful that people like yourself in the minority defend Sainsbury's business practices on this fans forum. I accept everyone will have a different moral stance,me and my family will never give a penny to their business for life each to their own I accept that. But to constantly argue this subject to death on a clubs forum who have 5yrs and countless millions is poor imho.

It has nothing to do with my morals , it's to do with business,I still shop at Sainsbury's because it's convenient and I still use Argos as it's also convenient ( when they actually have what I want!) our club prior to the takeover was ran like a joke , everything was an utter embarrassment behind the scenes and the dross that we had to endure on the pitch perhaps if we had proper staff seeing over our ill fated Sainsbury's deal things may of turned out different, but we diddnt hence why they took us for mugs !!!

Okebourne Gas I hope you've got what you wanted from this thread, I wonder if you were happy when Sainsbury's pulled the plug so you could use it as a cheap shot against the board. I know you're in the minority at the club who'd think this way, let alone argue the same laboured point over 4days.

The forum is a fairly tame place to express opinions. If everyone refused to shop at Sainsbury, thousands of people would lose their jobs.
