They're not the same as back in the day though. I can remember getting one, taking off the lid and using it to dip into lots of meat and loads of gravy. Now it's as dry as a nuns pants.

A new stadium is essential to any plans of moving the club forward into the championship, whether it's the UWE site or not I really don't care.

Its a difficult one for me. Im only 31 so have never witnessed rovers with a decent stadium. But at the same time theres just something about the mem and i prefered the refurb the mem option to the uwe option. Funny thing is i was showing my welsh mates the compilation of bodins goals and they all commented on the roar when a goal goes in and how amazing the atmosphere is. They even went as far as to say they would rather be back at ninian park over where they are now. Yes its a shambles at the moment but we could make it so special. A real home! Not an identikit 'insert name here' stadium

It's got to be 10. I love the romanticism of remaining at the Mem and developing it but parking is a nightmare. Driving up as I do it takes 2 and half hours and then 30 mins to park. A nightmare and for others coming in cars it would put them off. I don't care if it's not the UWE but I presume all our eggs are in that basket unless in the 15 months since the AlQadis have been here they have secretly found an alternative site but kept quiet about it whilst negotiations with the UWE are ongoing. Practicalities say we have to move so we can have a chance to follow Swansea, Brighton, Reading and Bournemouth clubs we have been on a par with at times in the last 20 years. I'd love to agree with the pro-Mem people but in business terms I just can't see it unfortunately. UTG!

I just wonder if the parking thing is as important as some have suggested.
For instance, parking is extremely limited and effectively unavailable for most fans at the Amex Stadium and Anfield, as examples of two clubs who don't seem to have suffered as a result.
For corporate events and gigs, coach parking takes up a lot less space per passenger than cars, and the original Mem redevelopment plans had made allowance for that sort of limited parking.
Parking on the street in Bristol is bad, but it's a doddle compared to Brighton.

Our aim should be to play as high as possible which in England is the premiership. First we need to get into the Championship and build while in the UWE. But we have premiership level potential as do the City but we need our new arena to fulfill this. If wigan, Bournemouth , Hull , swindon ,Barnsley ,Cardiff, Burnley ,Blackpool , Blackburn , Charlton, Bradford , fulham , Reading ,Stoke, Watford and now Brighton can do it - then so can we.As we as much potential fanbase as each one of them, if not the history. But We need to get the UWE sorted to do this. Agree we need a better stadium to realise our potential but it doesn't have to be an out of town stadium like UWE. Many of the biggest clubs in the country play in densely built up areas with little parking. For example both Liverpool clubs, both Manchester clubs, Newcastle meanwhile just across town our main rival have a redeveloped modern stadium on a small site in an urban area and an average attendance twice ours this season. I should add that none of those stadiums have large scale retail development attached to generate income for the football clubs either. Why therefore do we have to go to somewhere like UWE to realise our potential when other clubs don't? As mentioned earlier a redeveloped Mem could be fashioned to hold 25,000 if not burdened by space used for Student flats. As far as the parking restrictions that might come in to play if the ground is redeveloped, these can and should be renegotiated as there is a precedent south of the river where no such restrictions will come in to play unless average attendance exceeds 25,000 so surely we should get the same at a redeveloped Mem!

I only mentioned the parking because it is hard to find space after a two hour drive and must put others off. It's not the most important issue but enough space in the current position is an issue. And if they want space to develop other facilities at the ground then it will continue to be an issue.

I agree. But if we are to aim for our cities/ clubs long term potential then I think we need a ground that holds 25,000 (short/medium term - and (very long term) 40,000 plus much like a villa park. However that vision above is light years away right now, so I would rather be in favour of rebuilding the Mem into a 25k ground right now, than moving into the UWE if we cannot agree the right deal for our club. I've got a gut feeling that the UWE will fall through this summer and we will redevelop the Mem over the next 3 years.

I would not be disappointed if UWE fell thro I disagree with the strange position with no life part of your argument. The site is next to a modern housing estate, a thriving university campus and several national companies. I would say that's plenty of life. I also wouldn't call the location "out of town", It might not be in Bristol but the surrounding area is very built up and with the amount of houses due to be built in the area, I personally wouldn't call it a development in the middle of nowhere.
