Suggest you revisit your maths. "Less than 5%"is totally wrong. That equates to only 500 of a 10000 crowd if my sums are correct. There are at least 200/300 in the Wellie alone on match days, without taking all the other pubs/ civil service club etc into account. I would suggest 15% + is a more realistic guesstimate if not higher. OK, lets say 15%, that's hardly a "large proportion".
As to the comment about going to pubs in Kingswood etc after a game, that's fine if you do not care about drink/driving, I for one just want to get home after a game.
Everyone is entitled to spend their money on whatever they like and where ever they want to so you'll get no argument from me.
I no longer hear complaints about the quality of the "beers" at the ground so must assume that those who buy alcoholic drinks are happy with the drinks on offer.
Still only 5 weeks until the first friendly, so we can concentrate on the football.
Melksham here we come.
The beer seems to have improved and is reasonbaly priced compared to what you would pay around

That's counter productive as I'm sure a large % of our matchday attendees visit a pub before or after a game. Giving up football would knock 4 figures from our crowd. 4 people perhaps. More people will attend matches at the UWE or similar than visit the mem. I was responding to the suggestion of giving up football to go to the pub instead.

Back in the day, home games at Eastville meet in the Eastville club for a pint at 1oclock , then a pint in the True Blue ,then round to the North Stand , after game leave North Stand about 6.30 ,back to the Eastville Club game of snooker,go home at about 8.30 ,great memories.

Turn that around the other way and how many fans who attend matches at the Mem would stop going, simply because they couldn't have a pint or two on Glos Rd before the match, probably none?

You are joking. For many people the match is a small part of the day! Few beers, bookies, chipshop, and few beers after the game. If we are talking turn up at 1450 and go home at 1650, that would not make the day worthwhile for plenty. ( just to take it to extremes)

Here's an idea, shuttle busses from and to Gloucester Road on match days. Get the local establishments to chip in.

I went to the Welly once. Overpriced drinks put me off going again. As I do not drink and drive, I only have soft drinks and with 50% off at The Mem I would rather support my football teams finances than the pocket of a pub landlord.
Each to their own and I have no problem with those who want to drink elsewhere.
So by your reckoning only about 400 people have a drink before the game ?🤔

( just to take it to extremes) Nothing stopping anybody doing that before going to the UWE or at the ground? If they do the latter then that's an extra £20/30 per head income for the club. i don't really get the argument that watching lower league football in a ground not fir for purpose is OK simply because you can have a beer or four on Glos Rd.

If your priority is pubs could I suggest you give up football and then you could spend more time enjoying what you like best That's counter productive as I'm sure a large % of our matchday attendees visit a pub before or after a game. Giving up football would knock 4 figures from our crowd. I don't I prefer to give my money to the club

Just to be clear. I am 100% behind moving to a purpose built stadium. The matchday experience is a parallel topic. People will adjust their day to suit the location of the new ground.

Another at HT, then a few at the round table after the game before heading back to BS15. If I'm driving il only have 6/7 pints though.

Anyone who drinks elsewhere other than the club bar is a traitor. They should be taken to the Tower of London and hung by the neck until sexually aroused.

3 miles from the Mem near Filton, Stapleton, Frenchay, Bradley Stoke, Stoke Park, - bus and train transport from North, south east and west and heliport too - parking at UWE not exactly near nowhere? as for design - modern, airy, capacity, (but you prefer the Mem?) And a 5 minute walk from Gainsborough square lockleaze And 11 mins and 46 Seconds from the Bulldog!! Yes i have tried it and yes I am very sad

Name 3 pubs nearby ? & yes, I prefer the vicinity of the mem. It's become home for me and the glos Rd is great for choice of watering holes If your priority is pubs could I suggest you give up football and then you could spend more time enjoying what you like best You're making a huge assumption and couldn't be more wrong. I like choice and the UWE gives none. As for the framing part of your post, I'll not dignify it with a response
