Really ? They hit the woodwork twice and JVS made a number of very good saves. I guess I’ll have to check the shots stats but I reckon they were fairly even and Plymouth must be wondering how they didn’t score. Bodies were on the line. JVS has a dire rep, and we've not kept many clean sheets this season but we did tonight despite both of those. Posts don't count as goals otherwise Garner might have kept his job. Sometimes you don't need to tackle, you just need to make it bloody hard angles to go in and thus easy for a keeper. You should know by now, if we hit the post, we're rubbish, but if the opposition do, they're unlucky.

Excellent win, JVS MOM. Top class all round performance by our keeper. I am so pleased for him, as he's managed to put some average performances behind him, including that howler against Fleetwood (which I blame on the horrendous conditions), and really put in a top class performance today. He's still second choice, but hopefully today will give him confidence when he's called upon.

Crying out for fresh legs here. PT very slow to make changes. Hargreaves should inject some energy into midfield.

GGMI Instead of starting a match day thread, why don't you just dredge up some old ones from games we've all forgotten about?

Are those distances as the crow flies or Google map type road distances. Many of those would be fewer miles if one were to travel by train. From the Mem to the ground on roads. Strap yourself to a murder of crows, it's much quicker than using public transport.

Interesting watch. Twentyman does his intervies very differently. PT is a very calculating manager.

I have a couple things to say to that. 1. Wage cap 2. Strikers are paid a lot, so we'd need to offload 2 or 3 players to pay for the calibre of striker people are demanding. 3. That would unbalance the squad. 4. I can't count 😕 Are you sure ?. Click below and scroll to paragraph 13_14. It states " payments directly linked to cup are excluded from cap " . This needs clearing up because what is the use risking players in cup games if there is No revenue benefit ?. www.footballlaw.co.uk/articles/efl-salary-caps-and-the-pfa-challengeThanks for posting that, it was an interesting read. I took it to mean that wages paid to players for playing in cup games were not included, but I could've misinterpreted it.

Unless we can unearth another Hanlan. A lot of people weren't happy with his goal record when he signed, so thinking about it, it probably is possible, but not easy.

The gamble paid off and we have already made 140k in cup games . Now we got a chance of another 40k v Wimbledon and over 100k v sheff utd if we win / plus TV . The EFL should allow some of this cash to support a strikers wages in January.. I have a couple things to say to that. 1. Wage cap 2. JVS isn't as good as Jaakkola. Having said this, I don't think he's as bad as a lot of people make out, and we've had far worse keepers in the past, Puddy springs to mind. That howler against Fleetwood was a game where the conditions were horrendous for goal keepers, and it was a shame we didn't create enough threat to show their keeper up like they did with ours. You're obviously forgetting his attempt to stop the throw in going in at Bromley in last yrs Cup game !!!!! He's a liability !! Players make mistakes, and when you're a goalkeeper, everyone remembers it. If you have to go back that far then that shows he's not as useless as people are making out. We need a backup goalkeeper for when Anssi is injured or away on international duty, and slagging off Jordi everytime he plays is not healthy or helpful.

It seems Tisdale disagrees with the doubters on here as he seems to be using him as a vital member of the team, given that he's given corner duties to him. It's good to see PT's brought back the experience pros like Leahy & Upson. Tisdale had basically picked the most experienced starting 11 he could and then told them to go out on the pitch and play. Given the quality of player we have in the squad at the moment that can't be a bad thing, and at least we're less likely to be bullied off the pitch.

Didn't Tis say in his interview that he'd only make 2 or 3 changes, or did I mis hear that? In the post: When asked if he would make sweeping changes to the team which took three points at Plough Lane, Tisdale replied: “I’ve got to get the balance right between that and keeping the momentum going from Saturday. “I’d like to win the game. There’s reasons for winning the game, and I’d like to pick one or two players to increase my learning again. Thanks for that. I take that to mean that he won't be making huge changes then.
