They are clearly quite ambitious. Massively underachieving this season, a decent manager could get an awful lot more out of their squad of players. Not forgetting Khan turned us down for them also. The championship has massively changed since we were there. It's even changed in the last 5 years. The chances of a smaller ambitious club getting there are reducing all the time and the chances of an outlier staying there are also reducing. Rotherham have gone up and down like a yo-yo, Burton managed 2 yrs, Yeovil only 1. I'm not convinced any smaller clubs will get there even with a bit of money. A LOT of money & intelligence maybe. Bottom line is that the chances of having Mansfield 4th in Lge 1 around Christmas time are very very slim.

Highest position in 20 years and then this bomb shell...not even funny anymore, It really isn’t Ironic that it was Holloway that last had us this high up and now he’s being touted for a return. How did it end from this position last time...?! Ouch!!

He wanted to stay at Southend, then came to us when they didnt want him. Neither anywhere near where his family lives Maybe he uses the same atlas as Lee Brown. Almost spat my tea out at that one 😂😂😂 Lee's team did well today. Another club who think they are better than they really are.

GC Said he wants money to strengthen in January we ll see then what our desire is to make a serious challenge. He's got every right to ask for some with that bench! TBH it's perfect timing. If you're a Chairman / owner and your team are struggling in December you might think 'should I loosen the purse strings for this lot?' and the answer might be no. Better to be on the up

So you'd rather we ditched the manager who's go us to fifth? I'm not going to pretend I've always liked Coughlan and I wanted him gone after the Coventry game but results don't lie. In short yes. In the medium term my gut feel is that we’d do better and be more united without him Really?? 🤯 Who would be more united? The fans? I presume you cannot mean the players as surely one of the most obvious attributes he has brought is exactly that togetherness and the ability to give all players a decent chance, something that DC struggled with towards the end. One of the only ways to get an 'average' squad to perform towards the top of the lge is by team work, simple systems, a happy dressing room and by collectively and individually playing to their strengths.

I don’t know whether it is his attempt at being funny but our manager is just down right disrespectful when speaking about players outside of the starting 11. He saps all good feeling I have about Bristol Rovers that I have at the moment. Not disrespectful at all. Just pointing out we are very short on experience and we can't rely on these youngsters to get us promo tion. Can't remember the last incumbent having to fill the bench with young lads or even being prepared to give them a chance. I can see both sides but certainly you (Bideford gas) are much closer to the truth. I'll add one thing though. DC rarely had injuries to deal with, which helped the bench situation so I feel that's a slightly unnecessary dig. After years and years of regular serious injuries (I seem to remember ACL's every few month!) DC's tenure was a fantastic change to fit, reliable and hungry players. Maybe the backroom staff were better as well? Hard to know but certainly not totally 'luck' I would suggest.

Yeah, Ipswich fans seem to think they should be walking this pub league. That ain't gonna help them. It’s about time they realised; You ain’t famous anymore, you ain’t famous anymore. I still haven’t forgotten the cheating bastards from over 40 years ago. A backs against the wall 2 - 1 Gas win feck em! UTG ! My best mate would like to buy you a pint for getting it so right 😂 I've been going to gas and Norwich matches with him for 30 years and he is a very happy man today. As I am.

This is genuinely not because we won...
But starting negative threads seems wrong in my eyes, no matter what the result.
Football is a team game and everyone (including our MANAGER) says that Nichols is good team player with a good attitude.
Totally agree that he is a very poor goalscorer and cost pads of cash but I still would never start such a negative thread.
Put it as a comment in the match thread if you really desire, but starting a thread? Really? Give your head a wobble.

Bromley lost away to Wrexham today and their away form is not too good, also picking up a loss 2-1 against Solihull Moors recently. By the looks of things they're a lot less optimistic about getting anything from us than we are. Am I allowed to mention their plastic pitch? Might have a bearing on home & away form?

In recent seasons we have got promotion after being knocked out by lower ranked sides in the cups.. Bath City in the FA vase/whatever its called now, and the club that Barry Hayes played for when they knocked us out of the FA cup. Not wanting an upset of us of course, but the same happy ending come May would be very welcome if it did.😊 You mean Chesham United. Southern league Premier South. Don't forget Barrow; Barnet; Notts County; Tranmere (non league): a draw at home with York, winning away and then a draw with Crawley at home with a win away. Abysmal You so subtly sidestep the crux of icegas's post so you can wade in with the negatives. As a slight aside, do you think that losing at Tranmere Rovers when they were a division above us, fits into the meaning of the word 'abysmal'?

Great result today and we certainly had to dig deep in the second half to hold on. In other news...MK Dons part company with Paul Tisdale after 8 defeats in 9 games. Were they not in the top ten fancied teams to go up at the start of the season ? It's a funny old game . www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/50277858Really? Wow. Just about sums them up. 12 years at Exeter City and they give him barely more than 12 months, despite a promotion.

sweet win!
GC is an enigma. People should never write him off.
Certainly got it right it today. Not just because of the result of course, but in making some changes and mixing it up.
These days the game is dominated by analysts and you have to change things around at times, even if just to keep the oppo and their plans on their toes. Look at today's rugby; the perfect example of sport dominated by analysts, info, game plans and better communications making a huge impact on sport.

Good that they have. Some Premier clubs were charging £60 for away fans a few years ago. It is good that they have but I also think that’s very cheap, £35-£40 would be reasonable for that level (not that I’m knocking it). It does seem very backward though that there’s a maximum of £30 in the PL but you could pay over £40 in the Chanpuonship, something should be introduced at that level too. Very very true. My best friend is a canary and we've been going to each others away games for almost 30 years. As Norwich are up and down like the Assyrian empire I've seen them at many championship grounds and several PL matches. PL is often just as cheap and sometimes even cheaper, especially if it's an evening match and / or on TV. For example I saw them at Stoke a few years ago for £15. All a bit mad really.

Any chance the Club can sell 'blocks' of tickets (ie 6 or 8 game packages)? I can't justify a season ticket as I live in London and there is no way I can get to a decent majority of the games. So I drive 300 miles (which is a lot of petrol) and then buy relatively expensive tickets individually. So the "it's only £12.50 a ticket" argument does not work for me. Some kind of half way house might help. I'll message Tom G. we did just that a while back - 5 and 10 game books of 'flexi tickets'. They were a great idea, exactly for people like yourself, but were very bureaucratic and had caveats. In these days of electronic cards and scanners, I'd expect that they could be much easier to administer and use now.

Been trying to upload the goal for the last 5 minutes, but Vimeo taking ages tonight What I was going to post with the goal: "Didn't get the build up but great play from Leahy tbf - Bonham should do better IMO though" maybe, but came fast and low, and unsighted through the defender's legs
