Married to same women for twenty five years on Tuesday. I'd imagine it's hard having more than one woman on the go at the same time, but marrying more than one on the same day...go you!

Sainsbury's have obviously played a blinder and slipped a clause into the contract that gives them the perfect escape plan should they so wish. What I don't understand is that there must have been many conversations between NH and our lawyers and during the contract negotiations NH must at some stage have said to our lawyers "now please tell me this is water-tight, they can't get out of this on some technicality..." Makes you wonder about the lawyers advising us...

So now we know this project is most likely dead, a project that was key to the defense of him remaining as chairman, should he how now step aside? I was thinking the same. UWE was (I think I'm finally comfortable with the past tense on this project) to be Higgs legacy, the only positive in a very poor reign that has seen us slide on all fronts. Take this out of the equation and there's nothing left. Time for a change at the top whether from inside or outside. Accept that sainsburys don't see the site as viable, presumably no other supermarket will either and plan again. Use whatever compensation we get to help clear debts. Perhaps that will further increase our attractiveness to new investment. Stick a new ground on the mem with no parking (just for trash and the locals) or perhaps let it go for housing and build something more modest elsewhere. Something more befitting our level so we can build the club up sensibly. Never a dull moment! Onwards!

First game for me this season and I was impressed by Martin on the left. The midfield was definitely the weak area for me though.
I've not seen Sinclair play but to those who have, are you in any way convinced we have any more fight about us when he's in the middle or does it make little difference? To be fair to DC I guess that wasn't his preferred midfield today going on previous line-ups.

Ok so we all knew that it'd be gut-wrenching not catching Gas goals on the Football League Show and that playing in the qualifying rounds of the FA Cup will be just embarrassing. But what has happened that you didn't expect?
I've just had a look at the fixtures in our division for tomorrow (ok for accumulator purposes!) and realised I have no clue about 90% of the teams in this league. I know Jolly Green Rovers are pretty good and Alfreton not all that, but I have no clue what should happen when Woking meet Welling? Do Torquay stand a chance at Dartford?
I felt like I had a half decent grasp of how well most of the other 91 league clubs were doing over the last 25yrs of watching the Gas, but now it's like I know nothing!

Agreed. I post occasionally but look in at least daily (more atm while on holiday!). I'm sure there are many who do the same and many more who check in but never post at all! Keep up the good work all! What keeps you from posting more? Why do you think people lurk without posting? How can we tempt more to chat? Anyone....? Good question! I think the reason I don't post more is because my view has often been expressed on a topic and I don't think the same opinion repeated in different words adds a lot to a discussion, it just drags it down. If I've something new to add I often do. I think the forum attracts lurkers as our OS is so poor, this is a better source of news. Also any twitter/"my mate's mate said" type rumours appear here and as much as we know they're mostly bollocks they're a bit of fun! The forum also has a collection of those who claim to be in the know. We'd probably all disagree on how in the know each are, but their "inside stories" liven up following a club like ours!

I always find those clubhouse bar interviews amateur to say the least. Occasionally there seems to be some sort of vaguely sporting multicoloured backdrop (possibly the training ground?), but rarely. Would it be difficult to arrange a desk with a backdrop like the one the manager stands in front of for post match interviews (I assume it's in the tunnel area) the one with club badges and advertising) the sort of thing you see on match of the day?

Regardless of the validity if this rumour, if I had loads of cash and wanted to buy a football club, I'd be looking at a club going through a significant bad spell/in an unusually bad league position and with a big potential fanbase for starters. We have to be a good prospect for someone surely (our board entertaining the idea is another matter of course!)

GK Stuart Coburn - owns a planet hire company 650th game for the club yesterday Have you got his number by any chance alty? I'd like to give him a ring to see if Saturn's free a week Tuesday! In all seriousness, our team should be shown this list.

Well the Hairy Beast says we're going into every game looking for 3pts so let's hope it works more often than not! I think the opening 2 fixtures may prove a blessing. Tougher games against fancied ex-league sides. Good performances and a couple of points should keep people reasonably happy as long as we 'gel' quickly and the points start rolling in soon after. Had we been given openers against alfreton and afc one man and his dog and lost and performed badly in both all hell would have broken loose!
