Maybe, just maybe Pompey are a tad better than us ? Are they? The league table up until this afternoon suggested otherwise 3-0 suggests a lot more !

My glass has always been half full and i do not doubt the original posters of the New Beginning acted in good faith, I do however now start to think the credibility of their sources is starting to ebb away! and I am now struggling to understand what value there is in not exposing them imo it is starting to appear the first consortium were never serious if they were sure they would have gone public by now. As for the Princes this all seems to have come about from a "first poster" who couldn't even direct us to the Facebook posting declaring something was happening next week.
the shame of this is it will be Nick Higgs who gets the flack over all this !!

Whilst not disagreeing with all you say, it is not so simple as you suggest in terms of cost. Remember that it will cost £40m just building a stadium. Will the Jordanians build us a stadium? Apparently so. Then you have to invest substantial sums in the team. It won't just happen on its own. So you could easily get to £100m even getting us to the premier league. Mind you, I don't see anyone selling a premiership team for £100m or anywhere close. When you consider the annual TV payments and possibly the parachute payments, that would equate to over £100m guaranteed. So the bit I disagree with is the purchase cost. However, if the purchase cost of a mid table premiership team was more realistic, possibly £150-200m (assuming they own their stadium), we would still be a good deal given our location etc. I am not 100% certain that The prospective buyer under NH's consortium is the FIFA Jordanian, I believe it's his brother. I know nowt about them, but it seems they are extremely wealthy, so anything is possible. I just hope NH has obtained legal guarantees if he goes down that route. If this scenario is correct and he accepts he cannot take us any further, but is honouring his commitment to stand aside for someone else to move us on, then fair play. It seems sad to me that he doesn't want to talk to the original consortium, because it would be good to let us all get an idea of what the two offers were, and of course if there were two potential buyers, the investment may well have been higher, to our benefit. However, I Worry that the original consortium may well have lost their opportunity as they haven't declared themselves even now. It could be a mighty interesting few days. Not so sure the investment in the playing side need be that great, once the stadium is built we would start to average 12-13000 and generate significant extra revenue, also there is income from merchandise and the brand could be significantly improved upon, we could easily double our turnover in the first season at uwe thus increasing the playing budget to a level few clubs outside the championship could compete with. The investment would be needed to make the big step up from championship to prem. Also don't forget we can extend uwe to 35k i believe, which we would need if we ever reached the promised land! If this is a consortium i.e more than one ,it could be that all involved are extremely wealthy and the sort of figures available to them are beyond our comprehension

I'm obviously highly sceptical about this, but it's got me thinking about how I would feel if something like this actually happened, and it is actually quite worrying in some ways. Sure, on the face of it we become instantly rich, get our new stadium, move up the leagues and bask in newfound glory. But at what price does this come? Even if we remain Bristol Rovers FC, will we feel like the same club? Will it feel like proper success that we have earned, or would we just be another club who bought their way to success? Will DC just be cast aside in favour of more of a "name" manager? Would we even be successful? We could be bought out, the new owners could get bored, abandon us and leave in deep in a bigger hole than we'd ever been before? So many unknowns and I have to say that even if it did happen, I'd have my reservations as to whether it would represent the sort of holy grail to others seem to think it would. I could of written that , right on the money for me

You can't deny that the standard of posting has slipped since we passed page 200 Hugo, surely! Up until that point there was still a small shred of optimism left in some of us. I feel somewhat crushed that the most excitement we can have now is listening to Nobby tell his Norwegian tales. Now, one of the problems of being one of Lizzie's loyal servants was the annual Winter Deployment to Norway, well, the deployment isn't that much of a problem, but there are strings attached to it. One such string was the act of 'doing a No.2' when you were out in the snow/ice/mountains. A lot of the training areas are in fact National Parks. This means that during the winter, the men could not do a No.2 anywhere. You couldn't just pop behind a tree or a rock to drop one, because it would just freeze and not decompose, then when the snow melted in the Spring, the National Park would be covered by literally thousands of No 2's dropped by our fine Corp of men. This of course, we could not allow to happen. So, we had to do our No 2's in what was called a 'Thunderbox'. Basically a cardboard box with an oval cut out of the top. You didn't sit on it, but just sort of 'hung' over the top, with legs akimbo to do your business. This only worked if we were stationary for the night and the Thunderboxes were available. Sometimes, during daytime moves, we passed Public Loos in the mountains. These were single room bogs with just a piece of wood over a large hole. There would be five or six holes cut in the wood. One day, as we moved about I spied one of these delightful places, and being caught short, as it were, decided to pop in and actually sit down for a dump, something that can only be described as a luxury in the mountains of Norway. So there I was, trousers and shreddies around my ankles, purring with delight to actually be sat down while having a dump, when the door opened and in walked this stunning woman. Norway is full of stunning people. The long blonde hair, skin like a peach, lightly tanned, teeth like pearls and beautiful blue eyes......and that was just the blokes ! Anyway, in she comes, we both nodded politely and mumbled an 'hello'.....quite surreal....she then unzips thing, unties things, drops things, and then sits on the hole two away from me, whereupon she sort of half closed her eyes, and gave out that little sigh we all recognize as the start of a delightful dump. Well, to say I was staggered would be the understatement of the century. Quite often we would pass locals out skiing during the day, but I really didn't expect this. It quite put me off my stroke. I remember looking at her and thinking if it was worth trying to trap her and get a date, but I decided that the situation we were both in wasn't really what would be called a 'romantic situation'. I tell you, having a stunning woman come into the bog to have a dump next to you can actually be quite distressing. I was in a right funk. It's just not cricket. To keep things topical, I think we will win 2-0 on Saturday. Reminded me of one on my experiences; I was having a sh** in the train toilet today, when some bloke knocked on the door. He said, "Can I see your ticket please?" "Not right now" I shouted, "I'm having a sh**!" He said, "I don't believe you, can you pass it under the door?" "No problem," I said, sliding it under. "The yellow bits are sweetcorn." 1-1 for me Gaffney to score

It would depend,in my view, why said person would want the Mem/land for. And the loan would be bargained in the asking price I would have thought so taken off the price. Land worth £10 million minus £2 million loan may sell for just under the £8 million mark. Not £10 million plus £2 million loan! That's the way Id be looking at it from from a business point of view. The wonga loan is now well over £3m not £2m plus if NH sells the Mem, I assume he'll want his own "loans" paid off, plus there's our other debtors who are taking the total debts to nearly £10m. I can't see it's simply a case of selling the Mem and transferring a loan of £2m to a new ground, plus if we move to the UWE they always wanted the club to be debt free anyway. I see it exactly the same way as Eastville 73 It would be my assumption that the £2M loan is secured against the Mem and ownership of the Mem would not be transferred i.e contracts exchanged and completed until the loan was discharged

Surely DC was our real saviour as just look at how Torquay are struggling in their second season, or how Grimsby, Wrexham & Lincoln have just become Conference sides. As far as "we are actually more secure under NH than we are under GD. Higgs has the clout to more than keep us afloat." if that really is the case why as he took on the wonga loan and so far falied to repay any on the interest?? As NH ran out of money as far as spending it on Rovers are concerned? Because underwriting your own money on a court case is a greater risk if you lose. In fact its in part a sensible move, we win, the loan is repaid with sainsburys picking up the tab in costs. We move the loan becomes property of the new tenant they will have to renegotiate if they dont like the terms.
NH clearly feels the interest on the loan is affordable currently for him to underwrite and its better to keep your money in somewhere at higher interest (Higgs personal fortune will be in a form of bonds earning good returns I would imagine) than in a club that loses money year on year. Although its greater risk, its one that could pay off in the longer term. We dont know all the ins and outs, but it is with good reason, Higgs is a multimillionaire, he isnt daft. Serious, Genuine question why is it someone would buy the property and take on the loan ? as i have said before who would buy a house and take on the sellers mortgage as well ?

Absolutely ! may I also add it is only referred to as the Union Jack when It flies from one of Her Majesties ships Ahem, so sorry, but couldn't resist. It's Her Majesty's ship, not Her Majesties as we only have one Queen and it 'belongs' to her. (God, I hope I've got my punctuation and spelling right or I'll be for it) You are correct, I will however blame it on predictive text

Not a line up that I would of guessed, but looking at it and the strength on the bench suggests to me a 3-1 win to the Gas UTG
In faact 5 or 6 of those on the bench are more than good enough to start for any league 2 side !
