Do some of you think you could take this seriously instead of all the crap unfunny jokes and jibes. This is the future of our club here. Why do some of you think it is funny to take the p**s out of Higgs, the same Higgs some of you were praising last week for getting Gaffney. It's just pathetic really. I'm not a miserable old sod I just want to keep up with what's going on with the appeal. Best post of the day SO FAR.... Court case is just a side line now, the main show is about to start This is my feeling too. The value of the club and hence the amount of investment required cannot be calculated until after the court case, whichever way that goes. Also, investments and/or buyouts in/of businesses are often held up because of a pending court cases. If somebody wanted to exchange £2m for a share of BRFC now (pre appeal hearing) - how would you ever gauge what percentage of BRFC that would get you? NH would argue that BRFC is worth £30m for Mem (if we win the appeal) less £10m debt = £20m. Your £2m is therefore worth 10% of BRFC. However, potential investor would argue that the value of the Mem is £15m, less £10m debt = £5m. In this case £2m is worth 40% of BRFC - the same amount of cash has 4 times the value. edit - caveat here, I don't know the actual value of the Mem or the clubs' current debt, figures are for illustration only. This is why nothing can happen and everything is held up before we know the outcome of the appeal next week. You will get some stick if you continue to talk sense !

On a side issue if you live in Langford (North Somerset), you are my neighbour (Nearly) As I say, I don't believe the individuals (Community Interest Group) associated with the bid are liable for any compensation. ...and.... I asked NH about this at the SC AGM and to sum up the answers briefly: 1. The Bishopston Society now have 3 weeks to decide if they wish to make a bid 2. They then have 6 months to raise the funds - the selling price is up to BRFC, so the Bishopston Society can't for example, buy the land for £20,000 or whatever silly figure they come up with 3. If the Bishopston Society decide they want to bid, the process takes 6 months BUT if at the end of that time they don't raise the funding (i.e. the price set by BRFC), they have to pay compensation to BRFC (but will probably do a "TRASH" and disappear rapidly!) So I'm guessing this is to force their hand as once this ACV bid is used, there can't be another one for 3 years. Not sure if the ACV thing applies if we win v. Sainsbury's as they have, in effect, already been sold the land. Also I think I am right in saying though stand to be corrected, any individuals associated with the bid are liable personally for compensation

See Radish wants some "suggestions". I could giver her one, but lets get this straight, the whole ground is not a Memorial. If it was then why did a builder get permission to build houses on it. No one was interested in it when it was owned by the rugby club, but now the evil football club took over everyone wants to go back to the past. If we are so sensitive about war memorials then why are so many around the country left to rot, or be stolen and melted down? Personally I think a statue and a plaque is all that is needed at the ground, or perhaps a garden, one that is approved by the British Legion (irony) But I did see that as long as their is "some" sporting activity then the order has little effect. Welcome David Lloyd!! Its easy just take the memorials to the new stadium , which is what it was intended for the sportsmen who had fallen, musch better placed at a sporting venue.

Ironically I'll be driving my 5yr old son home whilst the game is in progress almost going straight by the ground. I'll wind down the windows as we go past to hear the dulcet tones of the Gas choir in full voice celebrating our many goals I'll give a special shout, can't be too many Gas our side of town !
