It`s the sort of day you live for as a sports fan. Great atmosphere too. Don`t think Smith and Warner are going to be allowed to forget past transgressions. And looking ahead, it`ll be interesting to see Archer bowl on fast Australian pitches, when next we tour Down Under. A taste of their own medicine could be on it`s way.
Fantastic day, and what an atmosphere ! My personal opinion is that Warner and Smith should never have been allowed to play professional cricket again, yet alone play for their country! I think a year`s ban was just about right. Players have tried to change the condition of the ball, since the game was invented. One of our own captains from recent history was hardly blameless, was he? Taking sandpaper onto the pitch and using it on the ball in full view of the tv cameras, was as stupid as it was brazen. But, Hell, they`re Australians. By the time that the Ashes series is over, they may well wish that they had been banned for life.

Is his sentence wrong though baring in mind he had a suspended sentence for contempt already Well, he has already served two months. No complaints about being sent down, but the length of the sentence, and the fact he has been sent to jail twice, is very worrying for British Justice. On the day in question he did ask the Court Officials if any reporting restrictions were in place. He was told there were none. He asked the Police if it was ok to film, they said it was. All media channels routinely film people going into Court on a daily basis. Just watch the BBC News, Sky News etc etc. The bloke is a complete and utter arsehole, but that is no reason to send someone to prison. The issue here is not about him, but the process that is happening before our very eyes. The man`s a fool to himself though, Nobby. The days when the powers that be were prepared to turn a blind eye to muslim child rapists, are over. The lengthy prison sentences handed out to the muslim gangs who groomed and raped children in Rotherham, Rochdale, Huddersfield etc etc, are surely proof of that. He should just keep his mouth shut, and let justice take it`s course.

They say it's not over until the fat lady sings? Well, I just heard She Who Casts No Shadow singing..... It`s the sort of day you live for as a sports fan. Great atmosphere too. Well, I didn`t see that coming. Always nice to see the underdogs do well. Some of the catches in this tournament have been sensational. Be interesting to see which one is voted the best.

The band split into two factions who loathed each other, and there was a long running arguement over who was entitled to use the band`s name. My suggestion would have been for both of them to call themselves UB20. I really ought to apply to ACAS for a job.

Anyone got any decent gigs lined-up? My eight year old has somehow got into Queen and there are a few Queen Tribute bands playing in Frankfurt soon. I think he wants me to take him to one of those. Rammstein will be in town on Saturday, Nobby. Will you be taking your mother in law to that one? Some friends of mine saw them in Milton Keynes last Saturday, and were blown away by their stage act. They`re touring again next summer. Quite fancy going to see them in Warsaw, a city I`ve never visited. To me, their latest release is their best yet.

The Anarchy Tour '76 Sex Pistols, The Clash, Johnny Thunder and the Heartbreakers. Many dates cancelled after the Bill Grundy interview, but managed to catch up with them in Plymouth. Never saw the Sex Pistols first time round, but finally caught up with them at Finsbury Park in 1996. Filthy Lucre tour. Was my favourite gig.

Here's the thing. When the BBC and ITV had the monopoly for everything on tv, did we ever see England playing cricket abroad, live? Until Sky came along, we never had that chance except for a 25 minute highlight show around 11:45 at night! Sky have paid the money, and one-day cricket has become more and more popular. Sky took the financial hits early on, and now it is popular everyone expects the good ole BBC to show it, when in the past the BBC has totally ignored it ! The public channels don't pay any money for sport, especially the BBC. If you put it on the BBC then the sport loses out on money that Sky would pay to help develop it. Fact, the only sport on the BBC is stuff they don't have to pay for. Therefore, if they pay nothing then there is no money going into that sport. It's a fact of life. Totally agree. Also, I'm not convinced youngsters are missing out - how many actually sit and watch sport for long periods anyway? Most nowadays will stream or watch highlights on YouTube. I think it's more middle aged men who don't want to pay for Sky that make the most noise about this issue. When I was a sports mad kid in the 80's when free to air had a complete free reign sport was very neglected. Hardly any live football, even away England games could only be followed on radio, no overseas cricket, foreign leagues were never seen and even the Ryder cup wasn't shown for the whole event - when in the US we only had highlights. All a bit of a myth about the great days of free to air sport. Just my opinion of course!! My father in law is a F1 nut. For Christmas, I bought him a book about the history of the sport. There was a great story in there, about the British Grand Prix being shown live on BBC1 in the early 60s. With about five laps to go, they stopped showing the race and an episode of "Gunsmoke" took it`s place. Happy days.

Hasn't aged well ? He's 60 I don't think red lipstick and dyed black goth hair look good on a man of 60. Great set from them though. True `nuff. Still got his voice, all right.

India never seriously tried to chase down England`s total. Always behind the run rate, despite having wickets in hand. Their defeat means that it`s now more difficult for Pakistan to qualify for the knockout stages. Just a thought.

I saw the 1st Frank Bruno/Mike Tyson fight at the Millionaire`s Club in Easton. Two women provided entertainment, leading up to the fight. There was a most interesting game of table tennis. I shan`t forget that.

Bradford fans seem to like him so lets hope they take him off our hands so we can sign someone who is actually a threat to the opposition.. Absolutely.

If it`s a Smart Phone, the fact that you are typing in "Bristol Rovers" followed by "Football Club", is probably confusing it.

I wonder if or how many of our potential signings are reliant on moves like this happening first to create some extra space on the wage bill Indeed. And getting Bennett off it would help a lot as he is (apparently) our top earner. Absolutely. He started off promisingly, but faded away into an irrelevance in my opinion. Would be good to see him moved on, and the money saved spent elsewhere.
