Think we were 3-1 down at Twerton and the came back to win 4-2 at AG. Rained on us all night in the open end (before they switched the away end to the old east end). Great comeback and went through on away goals I think. Yep, Gus Caesar put through his own net to give us a consolation goal. I went to the first leg with my brother, his City fan wife and their City fan work colleague. The car journey back was hard, they were so confident. I don't recall who we played in the league in between when Dennis took over, but the change was so great I had a belief we'd turn it round. Even when we went 1 down in the second leg I still had faith. One of the best feelings I've had in football when we won. Great night out. it was that own goal that gave us the chance (and a very enjoyable away trip to forest in the next round).

The League Cup(?) game at Ashton Gate under Dennis Rolf where we came from 2-0 down in the first leg to win 4-2(?) over both legs. That tie seems a life time away now. Think we were 3-1 down at Twerton and the came back to win 4-2 at AG. Rained on us all night in the open end (before they switched the away end to the old east end). Great comeback and went through on away goals I think.

Have a feeling that it’s destined we get to round 3 and Joey gets to take his team to Everton or Liverpool.
… although my head says we’ll probably lose 3-0.
Anyway, setting off soon with hope more than expectation.

Not having any strikers worries me! However, I would like to see the young Langlais get some game time - could prove to be a FA cup hero.

Got to include Luton amor GST the worst surely? Go through someone's back garden to get to the away end and then get cuts on your shins as the seats have been designed for an average height of 5ft nothing. There is something unique about the Luton away end though - every fan should experience it. it’s really strange isn’t it? I remember at Alfreton away walking through a hedge …or was that just me taking a wrong turn? Been to Oxford before, but tomorrow will be first time for me driving with a child in tow (not literally), From memory there’s not a lot to do around there and probably less on a Sunday?

Fantastic - loved it. You could have filled about 10 hours with follow-up questions to some of those stories - I was desperate to know more! As others have said, interesting to hear him speak so highly of Joey as well, so as someone far from convinced it has given me a bit more do confidence in him. I haven't listened to it yet (looking forward to it!), but surely he is always going to talk well of his current boss? It wouldn't be a smart career move to slag him off True, but he didn’t strike me as someone who would hold back given his other comments - especially as he works for free!😅

sure one was a gashead though much to the disgust of the others! Not sure, but I remember singing 'Drink up thee cider' even at Twerton until it got misappropriated by them lot. yes - forgot about that! We did sing it at Twerton at most matches.

Love the way we can’t have a thread about FGR without it becoming all about global warming and vegan food! I thought it was a about ticketing arrangements?
Anyway, haven’t decided yet whether to cycle to the game and plant a few trees on the way or just take my private jet.

I remember watching us both in the second tier. I’d rather be arguing about who is the better of two good teams than who is less bad of two poor teams.
While I don’t wish them success and chuckle when they lose, deep down I know we’re all better off with two successful teams in Bristol. They must wonder though, after all the money they’ve spent, how they are still just one poor season away (and one good one on our part) from being back in the same division.

To be fair I thought some of the scores were generous!
He didn’t catch us on the best of days though in terms of atmosphere - as he says, those quick fire goals really sucked the life out of things.

For me we still MUST sort out our striker problem. Collins is ok but can’t see him scoring loads of goals and we just can’t rely on Pittman to be fit and available all season (it already looks like we’ve lost him for a few weeks again). This window we need more than a plan A - we need a plan B,C,D and E. I know it’s not regarded as an easy window but I’d rather us take a gamble on a couple of untried non-league players than do nothing at all.

That was tinpot from FGR, refused to give us more tickets and then couldn’t sell out their own home areas for the biggest game in their history at the time. they only gave us the end behind the goal (whereas earlier in the season we had the full allocation). I assume it was to prevent us having a vocal advantage. I initially couldn’t get an away ticket so drove there to get one for the home end - I was quizzed at the ticket office about which FGR home game I been to last and which month it was. I hadn’t a clue and picked a team and month at random and to my amazement I was about right and was sold one! As it happened I got offered an away ticket from a mate while driving down for the game and gave my home one away. The city fan getting a kicking was funny (I know I shouldn’t say that). He thought he was with FGR fans and started shouting ‘f**k off Irene’. I’d love to know what went through his tiny mind when it dawned on him that he was in a group of Gasheads. Don’t condone violence but he did bring it upon himself!

I cant see Luke Thomas making an impact at Championship level tbh. Agree, so doubt he’ll be recalled, especially as getting good game time and experience with us. I would also be surprised if Taylor would be recalled for the same reasons.
