The man who turned me from occasional radio listener to season ticket holder.
Absolutely gutted, won't get someone in like him for a long time if ever.
Good luck in the future to him, god knows what will happen to us now!

I was a bit dumb struck by quite a few fans clapping the players off at the end of the match. Yes they did play well in the last 20 minutes, but that doesn't excuse the first 70 minutes! Well booing at the end of every game clearly isn't working. If everyone starts pulling in the same direction it would be a good start. Agreed, and I for one would never boo or shout abuse, but I wasn't going to clap the performance either. If they'd put the same effort in all game and still lost then yes I would of quite happily commended their efforts.

Don't care how well they played in the last 20 minutes, should be playing like that all game not just when we're 2-0 down.

By the end of game 20 (tonight) this time last season and the season before we had the following;
2016/2017 2017/2018
27pts (GD -5) 24pts (GD -7)
Lets hope tonight we can close this gap to 20pts and a goal difference of -2 or better!
if we then go on to get another 8pts or more by the end of game 24 we'll be in line with last year or better with a better goal difference.
There's also still 98 more points up for grabs this season, so lots to play for yet. UTG KTF

First half
Smith 6
Partington 6 J. Clarke 7.5 Craig 7.5 Kelly 7
Bennett 7 O. Clarke 7.5 Upson 8 Sercombe 7.5 Rodman 7.5
Nichols 7
Second Half
Smith 3
Partington 5 J. Clarke 4 Craig 5 Kelly 4
Bennett 4 O. Clarke 6.5 Upson 4 Sercombe 4 Rodman 4
Nichols 6
Subs: Payne 2 Leadbitter 2 Lockyer NOLE
Crowd Rightfully Miserable, other than the jokes at our own expensive "Nichols he scores when he wants!" Funny but it really shouldn't be. Ref 6 other than the Penalty in the first half thought he was decent. Barnet 4 should of beaten them 5 or 6 nil, but they were a lot more clinical when given chances.

Play Nichols in a CAM role he seems pretty competent at setting goals up for others, just need a striker in front of him that knows where the net is (with confidence).

Bonham J Clarke, Lockyer, Broadbent, Kelly Rodman, Sercombe, O Clarke, Bennett Jakubiak, Reilly
Subs: Smith, Martin, Leadbitter, Lines, Matthews, Payne, Nichols
I'd expect to see the lads playing the ball on the floor, and goal threat down the middle. Fed up with seeing the ball booted up field to be given away, or crosses sent in to be missed.

Bonham 8 Great Goal keeper, very impressed kept us in the game.
Leadbitter 5 ineffective, personally would stop trying to play the RB position as a RWB whats the point in putting in crosses when our forwards are short and got no chances of getting the head (that's on the rare occasion when the cross is on target and the forwards are stood in the right position. J. Clarke 6 played well, got unlucky on a few attempts on goal. Craig 5 very safe, find him frustrating kicking the ball widely out or slowing play up passing it back to keeper. Martin 6 first time I've seen him play, didn't have high expectations, but thought he played very well, lost his man once or twice, but generally did alright.
Sinclair 5 Out of position and not the playing type needed with Walsall's style of play. Lines 6 Played well, took a few shots, would really like to see the centre Mids driving the ball through the middle instead of passing wide, happened only a couple of times and these were are best chances. It's not rocket science, if you play short forwards, you have to play the ball to their feet. O. Clarke 6 same as Lines. Bennett 5 Couple of sparks, but generally very little impact, still not doing his full bit when coming back to defend, left Martin exposed on a couple of ocassions.
Reilly 5 No service, as mentioned above the times when he had the ball where when it was played to feet, but these were far & few between. Nichols 5 same as Reilly.
Subs: Jakubiak 5 same issue as Reilly & Nichols, tactics didn't change when he came on, so funnily enough he didn't have much of an impact. Sercombe 5 tried hard when he came on, but he's wasted out wide, needs to be in position in the centre. Matthews 6 Thought he brightened the whole team up when he came on, tried to drive the ball forward on the floor & this actually made us some progress, would of loved to see his free kick go in, looked spectacular, but after re-watching the reply looks like it hit in the side post.
Crowd 4 Poor, barely any singing, miss the atmosphere Ref 6 not bad, fell for some of Walsall's tricks Walsall 4 worse than us (on a good day), gave us so much room on the ball, but we wasted it.

Crowd 6 Ref 4 Southend 4 rubbish if we'd played like we did against Portsmouth we could of beaten them 5-0.

As reported a bit earlier Ollie Norburn has signed for Shrewsbury, hopefully that will allow for Stefan Payne to move to us Shouldn't make a difference. As of last night supposedly the bid had been accepted and the player had agreed terms. Was just waiting on a medical today.

I'm not sure which forum to write this in and not sure if it's been mentioned before, but working in the civil service I've heard the civil service club on Filton Avenue is not doing very well financially and will possibly be closing in the next year. There are petitions to keep it open, but if it's not making it's turnover i'd of thought it will eventually have to be sold.
Without thinking too much into it, i'd of thought if it is put up for sale this would be a great opportunity for the gas, the land is almost 3 times bigger than the Mem, and would in my eyes be a perfect place for a new stadium and is potentially big enough for some other facilities like a training pitch onsite too (again dreaming!)

Besides scoring goals how did Nichols do? Was he involved in setting up the goals? Did he come close to scoring?
