We won, yes, and a good victory it was. But I agree with the OP. We surrendered central midfield too easily. With a 1 goal lead giving away that much possession is a dangerous game. I couldn't have been the only person to think that at 2-1 the equaliser was more likely than our third. Even with wing backs pushing forward, if the middle 3 don't start defending until 10 yds inside our own half we are asking for trouble. Despite that, a good win and great to see Nicholls score - 15 for the season anyone? sorry. I thought we were more likely to score at 2-1 . Of course, Oxford were well in the game and had a strong first 5 mins of the second half but after that it was even. I think our front 2, plus the wing backs were more of a threat than what Oxford were - and Mackie is easy to handle these days. With the wing backs and JCH up top we look a dangerous side. More quality footie from us - keeping possession and movement would make us a better side. UTG !

After my rather harsh comments about GC , I would like to place on record that I may of been wrong. His comments are making it abundantly clear that he has no more money in the pot due to the owners not willing to spend. Not , that I’m even going to knock the owners for not spending the extra cash. It looks like we are going to try and just maintain our league 1 status from here on out , and to be honest , for the time being anyway , that’s going to have to be good enough. There are clearly players here that GC has been trying to push out which would enable us to bring some in and by the looks of it , it hasn’t happened. The harsh reality of where we are as a club and where we have historically been , is where we are presently. From now on I’m just going to embrace the fact that I have my little local football club to support and from looking at what’s currently happening with Bolton and bury , I’m ok with that. One day we will have our time , not just yet. UTG !!!! good for you ! If Bennett and Menayese get a loan somewhere then perhaps we'll get a player or two in. Seems fair enough. Just hope more Gasheads get down The Mem than have been going up to now and then can judge Jaakkola, Davies, Hare etc with their own eyes. They might be pleasantly surprised !

I seem to remember when they were in the Prem, they were roughly £180M in debt, £180MILLION!!!! Exactly. I feel sorry for the fans but this has been a long time coming, Bury as well. The EFL should have dealt with this months ago. I don’t often agree with Joey Barton but when he said this league has become a farce he was correct. The goal difference of Tranmere and Ipswich is unfair to other clubs. I know if Bolton go that will be changed but even so. If they stay that goal difference will remain and could be vital end of season. This has just shown the EFL as being totally incapable of running the 4th or 5th largest league in the world. I know some will say what if it happens to us and with that I can sympathise but after this long-running farce I bet the EFL tighten up their rules to ensure, quite rightly, it doesn’t happen again. Any future club having similar problems will be thrown out in weeks rather than the time B and B have had. UTG! Bolton will only get a few loans in if they do survive. Can't see many players wanting to go there this season. And you can only have about 5/6 loan players in match day 18 squad. Both clubs, IF they survive, are going to get some thrashings for sure -so Joey Barton is right - ridiculous situation. The EFL should have stricter time deadlines for clubs in trouble - not letting the season start !

Not good for them or football fans in general if they do go bust. We will lose out as well, as we will have one less home game brining in money and season ticket holders will lose one game, that they have paid for already. A right mess all round. They have a new stadium and a hotel etc, so not sure how they have got in such a mess. They must have overspent quite a bit. you're looking at 2 games as Bury's situation is on a knife-edge too. I kind of hope and think that it will get sorted in both cases otherwise this is going to send massive shockwaves through British football. a very big club like Bolton !!

Who's surprised about those stats - not me. If you're born and bred in Bristol and you support one of the 2 Bris teams I think you GET IT by the time you're about 10 !

it's the low camera angle that makes it, along with the commentary. Nice work.

What I like about Alfie is that he wants the ball. Just after his 2 iffy passes first half, he was the first player looking for a short throw out from Jaaakola. He wants to play a passing game - I hope Gasheads don't give him too much stick if his passing is occasionally off target.

I agree, only worry is if we get injuries/suspensions. Could still do with brining in one more centre back, if we are going to continue playing 3 at the back. Little can play right CB, plus Rollin is a back up, not sure I'd be too happy to see yet another defender brought in this season when we're crying out out for an ACM, plus we're short of CM's as there's only the presently injured Sercs as back up. ACM - yeah. if you get one of those you can be out for 9 months.

Strange goal their one - seemed just a poke from 25 yards. Great goal by Upson, Great cross by Josh and a lovely mazy run and assist by the Captain. Well done manager and the team. Onwards and upwards. I hope more stay away fans will come to the next home game.

Well done GC and the team. Had to battle hard at times but we also played some good stuff. Nice to see that we now look like a team with a goal threat and with goals in us. Now can we look the same away. Tough one coming up at Burton. Here's to another 3 pts.

We've just published this to our website - A Tribute To Junior Agogo
A Tribute to Junior Agogo 1st August 1979 – 22nd August 2019
Everyone associated with the Bristol Rovers Former Players Association was saddened to learn of the death of former Rovers striker Junior Agogo at the age of 40. Manuel Junior Agogo was born in Accra, the capital of Ghana, on 1st August 1979 and was with Chelsea as a schoolboy footballer, although he signed for Sheffield Wednesday in October 1996. There followed loan spells with Oldham Athletic, Chester City, Chesterfield and Lincoln City before a move to America saw him turn out for Chicago Fire, Colorado Rapids and San Jose Earthquakes. On his return to these shores he signed for Queens Park Rangers and, in June 2002 joined Barnet for what became just a solitary season. It was at Underhill though where he became a prolific scorer (19 goals in less than 40 appearances), earning a move to BS7, joining Rovers, initially on trial, in June 2003. The deal became a permanent one after the trial period and, in three years with the Gas he scored 45 goals in 120 starts and 20 sub appearances. Nottingham Forest paid £150,000 to secure his services in June 2006 and he later played for the Egyptian giants Zamalek and Apollon Limassol in Cyprus before appearing briefly for Hibernian in Scotland before retirement. Blessed with blistering pace and a striker’s predatory instinct Junior scored a number of memorable goals for Rovers and after his move to Forest he scored his first league hat trick. Along the way there were also 27 international caps, and 12 goals, for Ghana, including a stunning performance at the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations, the highlight of which was scoring the winner in the quarter final against rivals Nigeria. Ghana came 3rd overall and Junior was the Black Stars’ joint top scorer in the tournament (alongside Sulley Muntari), and the joint 5th highest scorer overall. Junior was hospitalised in January 2015, after an apparent stroke, and in 2017 featured in a BBC TV programme about how strokes affect, amongst other things, speech and language. We had some contact with his rehabilitation team, and progress was being made, so to hear of his passing at such a young age comes as quite a shock and our thoughts go out to his immediate family and friends. by Keith Brookman, with contributions from Martin Bull
Great photo ! very sad to hear of his passing, he'll get a big send -off tomorrow. Think it could be quite emotional and I hope the players will feed off that and get 3 pts.

We weren’t awful on Tuesday but neither were we brilliant either, that’s what I’ll say. Good in the first half, then thrown off a bit by the sendings off in the second, deserved to win the game though. Oxford will be a better side than Tranmere, so Saturday will be a tough game. Both Little and Sercombe are close to returning to fitness apparently, so I’ll go for a 1-1 draw. From GC's interview this morning - Rodman and Little will at least make the bench, but Sercs is out for a few more weeks.

Imo he’s our best CM, that isn’t hard tho. While others hide from the ball Upson always offers an outlet, decent passing range and drops into the back 4 well when needed. Criminally scapegoated by some on here, but I’d rather have him on the pitch than Clarke and Agogo. Clarke badly out of form, and Agogo is just another Sinclair for me, runs around a bit but offers nothing in possession and little out of possession aside from a big tackle now and then. Agreed. I think his form picked up once GC came in. Think he rarely has a bad game. As well as the attributes you listed he also gets stuck in and doesn't shirk 50 -50s. Would like him to get some goals this season which will make our fans take up and notice him more. Nearly sneaked one in last night which the keeper fumbled round the post. In fact, he had another 2nd half, as late on he put one on to the netting from distance.

Nice to see Billy Bodin back playing this season after his absence for the whole of last season. Billy's just scored ! I bet he loved that.

I think Charlton will get relegated. They've lost a couple of key players to other champ clubs and signed L1 players like Otzumer and Locks. If they win tonight then they'll stay inside the top 3 plus Lyle Taylor looks as good in the Championship as he ever did in Div 1. Luton of the promoted sides look in most danger of going straight back down again this season. early days Topper. I think all 3 promoted teams - Barns, Luton and Charlton are going to struggle. Who do you think will finish below them ? small gap between L1 and L2 Very Big gap between Champ and L1 Massive gap between Champ and Premier

Im backing Gc. Having spoken to him at that fun day he was friendly open and seems to have a great sense of humour. Whether hes going to be a success as a manager only time will tell. But he kept us up last season so he deserves some respect I'd say A LOT because we were *ed when Dazzer left. made 2 excellent signings in Ogogo and JCH and we stopped being pushovers.

Straight in the Charlton starting XI tonight! Puts things in perspective. Will be interesting watching Lockyer. On a side note, I see Ashley Williams is on the verge of a move to 1982 Ltd, and has been left out the latest Wales squad by Giggs. Chance for Locks maybe. I don't think he's good enough tho I think Charlton will get relegated. They've lost a couple of key players to other champ clubs and signed L1 players like Otzumer and Locks.
