Any news on this? If City can loan players 2-3 divisions down the pyramid, why aren't we? Andre Jnr apparently did well for a poor Truro team in National South and Armstrong is meant to be highly rated, so I think both could play National South level at least. Kavanagh had a v painful op, so just to get game time last season was good. He might not have done that well in National South, but hopefully he has come through his recovery period and will be the player the club expected when they paid the fee for him. you'd also expect Russe, Menayese and Hargreaves to go out on loan. I'm sure GC would like Tomlinson to go too - to beef up.

No I certainly do not! The lack of a creative midfielder and lack of goalscorers was our problem for the whole of last season and will be this coming season if it is not addressed. We all know what Bennett did last season, started brightly, did not achieve anything and was sent off to Swindon. Portsmouth fans warned us what he was like and on the evidence so far they were spot on. I for one can not see him being the answer to our problems. Yeah for sure last season our problem was not enough pace not enough goal scorers not enough width and not enough creativity, 4major factors in us being completely sh**e until DC was sacked. Bringing in Harris sorted the goal scoring but other than a few decent assists from Nichols JCH created and scored the goals that kept us up all by himself. We still had no creativity , pace or width and ground out results on the back of JCHs screamers and some decent defending and goalkeeping. I still honestly think it was a freakish run of form by him but thank f**k that he had that run of form. If we don’t start the season with JCH banging them in then without a playmaker or any new attacking wide players and a replacement/ cover for JCH and with Bonham and Lockyer gone I can’t see anything other than another relegation scrap. When Cogs took over in a caretaker role he talked about how he wanted to build a squad with width and pace with right footers with pace on the right and left footers with pace on the left, we picked up points and were looking good. I can’t see us starting this coming season like that because we don’t have those players yet , 2 weeks to go so things can still happen. We’ll see. agreed. and it will also be a tough start if JCH and THD are going to miss the first month or so - which could be the case. I think GC might've to grind out results for a bit longer

So you think Clarke was a good as Little? If little plays 40+ games and is consistently good this season he will equal james clarke of last season. Little has good pedigree but he has not done a thing for rovers yet. you are stating the obvious there cheerful cheeks.

I thought Davies was good today, Tyler Smith’s pace was decent but too lightweight but I could see him doing very well in a pair up front. Upson was crap and Leahy didn’t impress me. Young lads looked nowhere near good enough (especially Hoole). Bennett was my MOTM for his tracking back and creativity. No energy in the game at all tho.that's your pre-season friendly !

Well I'm not sure we're going to score many this season. Can't base much on one friendly against a side in the league above, but all our crosses went to their goalie or big centre half, and we haven't addressed our creativity problem - Bennett in the centre isn't the answer.

Does not stop injuries happening. Both went down, before going off. So hopefully went off just incase and not because they were injured badly. More likely to be just precautionary in a friendly. People are panicking in a friendly 2 weeks before the season starts. you are so tactless sometimes.

How long is short term? Until he scores a few then decides if he wants to stay depending on who comes in for him A gamble for him and the club He's only 20 and played a handful of games - you make him sound like Rovers' version of Neymar !

Brum one of the weakest Champ teams - sold their 2 star players this summer - Jota and the CF who went to Southampton. They haven't really replaced them, Expect it to be close - 1 - 1 perhaps.
Ogogo also not appearing today, so with JCH, THD, Nichols and TC that's possibly 5 of our first 11 not playing - SO NO MELTDOWNS please if we lose by a few.

I tend to approach any season with a sense of optimism, and this season is no exception. Mediocre teams who get off to a good league start can perform miracles with a unity and confidence gained from early doors momentum. I believe a good start for us this season is even more vital as to our prospects. Our lack of creativity would seem to be a concern but there is still time to solve this particular conundrum with one or two players, if we do not start well then I can see confidence draining away and a relegation battle blighting our season..but I think this will not occur and we will be in the play offs...ever the optimist! Didn't quite catch those predictions Space !?

3 to go up : Portsmouth, Sunderland & Ipswich 4 to go down: Bury, Tranmere, Wimbledon & Us I'm not usually pessimistic but unless we get a couple more quality attacking players I think we are doomed. Christ ! someone liking a post that we're going down

Great news for Deon. I hope we get a chance to see him shine soon. Guess he'll be back up for JCH.

t is just a matter of time before Bristol Rovers add young defender Liam Scales to their ranks, according to his current boss. The Gas have been on the verge of signing the 20-year-old Irishman from UCD in his homeland for close to a fortnight, however the Students' manager Colin O'Neill says it's simply bureaucracy that's holding the deal up. Graham Coughlan has already admitted his interest in Scales, who turned down a move to Manchester City under-23s in favour of first-team football. It was thought that late interest from Portsmouth and Fleetwood Town might scupper the move, but O'Neill now believes the deal is all but done and Scales is destined for the Mem. ------------ Do hope we sign someone creative and someone who can find the net too. It's probably International Clearance holding up the announcement - they can drag on sometimes. Looking forward to seeing him in a Gas shirt finally. Expect it will be in League cup or EFL cup to start with.
