I know it's still 2 weeks till a ball will be kicked in ernest and there will be a few more transfers being made ( even at The Gas ). So who do you think is going up and who's going down ? Also predict your position for The Mighty GAs too ! It'll be fun to re-visit this page as the season progresses. Here's all the teams. Wimbledon Accrington, Blackpool , Bristol Rovers Burton Bury Coventry Doncaster Fleetwood Gillingham Ipswich Lincoln City MK Dons Oxford Utd Peterborough Portsmouth Rochdale Rotherham Shrewsbury Southend Sunderland Tranmere Wycombe Bolton Here goes then : 3 to go up : Portsmouth, Sunderland & Rotherham 4 to go down: Bury, Tranmere, Wimbledon & Rochdale Gas to finish ............. 12th !

there's hoards of them about to be honest - SteveK just tagging on. Thank **** we can all have an opinion; although, l would say the common denominator is we all want Rovers to do well. GC says he will be bringing in a “marquee” signing, and pacy wingers, although yesterday we were being told JCH is likely to be offski, with no pacy wingers currently wanting to sign for BRFC. It’s whether or not you believe the Club negativity or not ? But why the negative mode before the season starts ?? Players released in the summer - generally everyone agreed they should go with perhaps only James Clarke a surprise. Then we've signed 7 players, some with Championship pedigree. I find the negativity weird to say the least when you also factor in how well we did under GC in those 25 games. But as you say anyone can have a moan (sorry constructive criticism ??) if they wish.

Bristol Rovers have added former Southend United captain Kevin Maher to their coaching staff. Graham Coughlan has continued the shake up to his coaching staff by reuniting with Irishman Maher, bringing his former colleague from Southend United to the club, report the Southend Echo . Maher has been seen on the sidelines at Rovers games in pre-season and playing a key role in the squad’s pre-match warm ups. www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/bristol-rovers-add-southend-united-3105561

Our worry will now be that when he goes, who is going to score goals on a regular basis ? With GC saying last night that he has been unable to pursuade any pacy wingers to sign for BRFC, it is not looking great. I guess we will have a better picture when we see how the team plays against Brum. When is he going Peter ?

From what I have seen of Sercombe last season and the report from last night it appears he was awful. He is not a shadow of the player we had when he first joined. If for what ever reason players won't perform for the club then I think we should start bringing in some of our talented youngsters. We don't have the money to buy ourselves promotion sometimes we find a promising player like jch or Little but not that often. So I think we needs to go back to bringing on more of our own players, I think back to the seventies when we were in the second tier we brought in local players aound Bristol or South Wales such as Bater , Aitken, Evens, Barrett, Randel and Williams. Some of the best players this club as has had since I have been supporting them. There are some good young fringe players at the moment if you don't give them a chance you will never know how good they could really be these players need to be given an opportunity in the first team to stretch themselves and show what they can do, can't be any worse than some of our first team players last season. We rely to much on bringing in often other teams cast offs and not blooding our own youngsters. If you followed pre-season games then you'd have noticed that youngsters such as Moore, Russe, Hoole and Tomlinson have seen a lot of game time ! I'm sure GC and the staff will have formed an opinion if these boys should be picked ahead of the senior players.

How anyone can say that Sercombe is any good at CAM after last season's showing is beyond me. The final 15 games or so he played at the tip of the diamond and was absolutely dreadful, looked totally lost on the ball. I don't know what his best position is. Out wide he can't beat a man and is isolated, at CM he can't tackle and needs to players supporting him, and at CAM his decision making is awful. Crazy as he seems a totally different player to a year ago - what's happened? he had injuries - it can effect form and confidence. the same happened to Rodman. Both are very good L1 players. get behind them. If they are fit then they'll do well !

Uninspiring post match interview from GC if we aren't signing any wide player Will have the same problems as last season, defending is fairly good, attacking wise no creativity and one striker that looks capable of scoring in league 1. I was really hoping to not see Liam Sercomb playing out of position again, the man is CAM, play him there. Wasted out wide. He still does a good job out wide on the left, but yeah would like to see us get a specialist for that position.

All votes are off for player of the season! Little looks different class. 'Keeper lucky that both free kicks from just outside the area hit either upright. He was stranded on both occasions. Ollie Clarke has a new technique when in possession; horizontal arm across the face of tackler. Did it all night. Michael Kelly looking increasingly limited. Competent but will never be MoM. Deon Moore improving game by game. Beginning to look like the real deal.Their No 4 reminded me of Harry Pell. Very composed. I think Bath will miss Sean Rigg this season......now retired. Good attendance: 1,102. So Bernard, do you think Moore will get goals for us next season - is he ready to start games ?

‘We go with what we’ve got’ -GC in the Post match interview. Doesn’t sound great for those still expecting multiple signings. We've signed 7 so far. I'd be happy with 1 or 2 more as long as 1 of them is a left midfielder.

GC seems to be proving that he is far better at getting back room staff than he is at marquee signings! So far everything points to another mediocre season. It's taken you a while this summer, Steve, to get in to full negative mode. Congratulations. there's hoards of them about to be honest - SteveK just tagging on.

He's played over 100 league games but none of them alongside Van Dijk He's played less than 100 in the Football League and only 23 at League One level. how awful

I was thinking more of Alfie and Rollin, but I take your point bb. I hope Davies is what we all hope as, despite his age, I believe he hasn't played a lot of games? He's played over 100 league games but none of them alongside Van Dijk

After a positive start to the window, it has to be said, the last few weeks have been incredibly underwhelming and as things stand I don't think we are any better off than the team which finished last season. We still need at least two creative players and a marquee striker to be competitive this season IMO. Agreed. At the moment we’re very reliant on Nichols, Reilly, Sercombe & Bennett having a better season in order for us to improve in attack, as the signing of Smith alone isn’t going to have a significant impact IMO. If we go into this season having only added a youngster on loan to our impotent attack from last season, then we’ll get what we deserve come May. However, there’s still time to get those additions we need! what about Ollie and Rodman ? will they get goals and assists this season ? Personally, think they can both do a lot for the team - combined 10 goals and 10 assists,

I saw that Billy played his first football for PNE a few days ago since last pre-season when he did his ACL.
He came through unscathed. I hope he has the chance now to show he's capable of shining in The Champ.
Billy, for me, was our most exciting player to watch in the last five years or so, probably since Muzzy Carayol left.
So many great thunderbolts, great bits of dribbling and great close control.
Good luck Billy !!

Oh dear. Doesn't sound good. Any good/bad individual performances? Little looks good, Leahy has a good left foot, Upson our best player, impressed with Lucas Tomlinson, he’s been very good. Too small upfront, no service but they are no threat together Nicholls and Tyler. Chambers up front for them who scored looks the league striker out here. I know it’s only a friendly but Cogs will get stuck into them playing like this. Keeper looks good BTW Cheers Roady. people have got to remember there were 2 kids on the pitch. UTG !

Where does YOUR understanding come from, ITK? I only know about Scales from the Irish Press where he is playing in a lowly league but is highly rated as a future prospect to play in a higher league than the one he currently is playing in. I hope we sign him and he prospers here. However your comment regarding Rollin. What is your understanding that Scales would be a better player than him, therefore Rollin must be transferred or loaned out? For my money we already have four centre halves in post. Two would be bench warmers with the other two first choice all day long except for Checkatrade games. Where does that leave Scales "a development player"? My thinking is unless he is far better than thought he is a prospect not a first team player at this time! Is this where the hesitation is coming from? If we were to bring in Scales, whether or not he is better than Rollin it would still be a mistake for us to let Rollin go out on a permanent transfer at this time. Still a young emerging talent. He’s at a point in his career where he will want to push toward the first team, so a loan makes sense for him. But we should be looking to keep these young prospects because they will save us money in the long term and maybe even make us a few quid once they have a half season or so of first team games under their belt. If we somehow can’t afford to pay the wages of two young CB prospects simultaneously then I really despair. Just hope Rollin is happy to stay with us personally and go out on loan in order to come back to try with us in 2020/21 season. I've never seen him play live, is he good ? What are his strengths ? Can you see him being a L1 player ?
