Not sure it's reasonable to expect the club to plan their pre season around helping out local non league clubs. Surely it's more about how they can team build etc at the lowest cost. We have played pre season friendlies at Melksham recently, which seems a bit random (even if they have decent facilities) as we don't really have any connections with them. DC is good friends with some of the people involved in running Melksham Town. He took the squad there for the opening of their new stadium, since then it has been a popular pre-season outing for Rovers fans. A shame that the traditional pre-season game at Twerton Park did not happen last year. Fingers crossed MT's Bath links will help that! Especially now they have the two bars behind the goals meaning you can have a drink on the terrace whilst watching the game.

There was a good Gascast episode on this issue back in 2020 (I think?) With David Goldblatt, a football writer and gashead

I'm getting concerned about what impact the WECA plans for the A4 corridor will have on the FM plans. As yattongas has pointed out planning will probably take 7 years if the Greens have control of Bristol city Council. The FM redevelopment will be a big undertaking at the same time that the A4 Brislington is carved up by Dan Norris. It seems to be a recipe for construction chaos. I think it might actually help a planning application for a stadium- at the moment one of the reasons people could object to a stadium being built there is the idea of people driving into the centre of Bristol to attend a match; the more public transport options alongside the train that we can offer on the ground's doorstep the less that this will be a factor

Slight correction - it's dependant on PP being submitted, not approved. So that gives a year for pre application talks with BCC, who you have to assume (hope) will be making positive noises about supporting an application. Yep, thanks for the correction. The acquistion remains at Conygar's discretion, so presumably they could go through the early stages of the planning process and choose not to do a deal. Although it would be an expensive waste of time all things considered. Yep definitely, they could even submit PP for a development without a stadium. Hopefully the club posting so publicly about this means they believe this is a significant step towards something concrete being announced soon.

Worth noting that Conygar haven’t even agreed to buy the site, they’ve conditionally agreed to spend £450,000 on a 1 year contract that will result in them purchasing the land if they are successful with planning permission. Here’s the Conygar announcement. We're not even mentioned. “The Board of Conygar announces that Conygar Bristol Limited, a joint venture between Conygar and Urban and City Ltd (owned 80% by the Company and 20% by Urban and City Limited), has acquired an option for £450,000 from Wholesale Bristol Fruit Market Limited to acquire the land at St Philips Marsh where the market is currently located. The site comprises 14.7 acres and is located to the east of Bristol Temple Meads railway station. The consideration will be funded by Conygar from existing cash resources. The acquisition is at Conygar's discretion and is subject to the receipt of planning permission for a number of development options. The conditional contract expires on 31 March 2024 in the event that a planning application has not been made by Conygar Bristol Limited for the development of the site.” Slight correction - it's dependant on PP being submitted, not approved. So that gives a year for pre application talks with BCC, who you have to assume (hope) will be making positive noises about supporting an application.

That's an announcement imo. If not then Bristol Rovers Admin needs sacking for being the world's biggest WUM 🤣 Let's hope they don't celebrate April fools day 5 days later in Jordan

When was the last time we won by 4 clear goals in league one? Possibly Jan 2017 when we beat Northampton 5-0- the game where Harrison scored a super quick hattrick

I'd be surprised considering no plans have actually been submitted With the Bristol Green Party having control over the planning committee stage i can't see any plans getting past them without a substancial ethical element to it I assume the central location would be a huge boon to its chances- the greens were massively in favour of the Arena next to Temple Meads for that exact reason.

Pete from the club has said that capacity at the moment is 9,870. That infers that it might increase and so it should because this figure is only 80 more than last season. Hopefully we can get it up to 10,300 Where's the 10,300 number from? Is that the capacity we had pre covid and family tent?

Melksham Tweeted that Rovers are bringing their 1st team squad, I wonder if there will be any additions announced before this evening. Wishful thinking... Think they would've been announced during this week. Someone in signings thread suggesting Norwood media content has been filmed and everything! Looking forward to watching us tonight regardless, and I'm sure some recognisable trialists will be out there too. I think last year's Melksham game featured a certain goalkeeper trialist who turned out pretty well for us!

Looks like Anssi is in training, so presumably will be staying with us for another year. Really hope he is- I know he made a few mistakes in the few games he played last year but that's to be expected when you first come back. Great keeper who's probably pushing Belshaw to keep the no. 1 shirt

They're definitely better off 'allowing' non season ticket holders- the ticket per game price is higher, and are likely to spend more per game on merchandise But then you don’t have the guaranteed money up front which clubs want and need when deciding on budgets / player contracts . I agree at our level re guaranteed income, was on about premier League where you get a lot of tourists going to just the one game

Same place as 12000 season ticket sales. Hypothetical. How many people have a friend or family member join them on occasions ? How many shift workers or saturday workers attend a few games but cant do any more. How many people travel from a distance for the odd game ? How many people get a complimentary ticket ? How many people just pick a big or derby game to watch ? Plenty more reasons im sure. It wouldnt surprise me if 20-25000 different people attended the mem last season. You're throwing questions about, I have no idea on the stats for any of them. Ask a Premiership Team if they'd be better off allowing for pay on the day. They're definitely better off 'allowing' non season ticket holders- the ticket per game price is higher, and are likely to spend more per game on merchandise

Balloons not on until August, home fixture to start please EFL. Championship shutting down for a month for the World Cup, Premier League for six weeks, no stop at League One. I'd rather be home final game of the season than first so don't mind away day to start the season

The food and drink points are totally valid. Pre-pouring Thatchers etc so that we serve as they are asked will make a huge revenue increase. Last 3 games I’ve only bought one pint in total due to massive queues. Would usually buy 2-3 pints per game. That’s £40+ missed from just one fan who doesn’t particularly “get on it” at the ground. If that’s the same for groups that do go for it, then it’s a huge miss… if only say half the people there at a 9k attendance game bought a couple of pints / more pints on a match day that’s £45k turnover by just pouring them in advance or having single choice pop-up bars as suggested above. Quicker to get served in a Premier League ground with 35,000 attending than at Rovers. Also need to make a queuing system and it’ll flow loads quicker. Easy win! For the Scunthorpe game they were pre pouring pints in the extra pop up bar in the fans zone . It worked a treat and the queue moved at a decent pace for once . can’t believe we haven’t adopted this system before . I remember going to Fulham to watch the Gas years ago and they were doing it then , literally hundreds of pints lined up to serve for half time . It’s not rocket science. I’ve suggested it many times before so there must be a reason they can’t do it but for the life of me I can’t understand why! I think we did used to do it- I have a vague memory of pre-ordering pints being a thing in the east terrace bar back in the 06/07 days

We’ve lost loads due to implementing policies on not allowing supporters on the top of the terracing on the east side or at pitch level throughout the ground. Then we’ve also lost capacity from the Family Stand I saw a tweet from Gorringe saying that next year we're hoping to be able to have fans at pitch level, and I've heard somewhere on here there's plans to get rid of the family stand so fingers crossed that'll boost the maximum capacity a fair bit.

That I am afraid offends hugely. I am now not talking about just Rovers here, this is woman’s and girls football. I have boys that play the game at a good level and don’t have daughters. But have close friends who have both boys and daughters who play football again at a very good level. Me, my wife and my boys have throughly enjoyed watching our friends girls play football in the last 5 or 6 seasons, which in fairness has only taken off over the last decade. I’m sorry I take exception to comments that trivialise a sticker made by kids!!!!!!!!!! Go and watch a womens / girls game and I guarantee that will change your mind. Im sorry but literally my point is the club has trivialised violence against women yet issues a club statement of condemnation because some idiot made some stupid stickers. There is no consistency or weight behind the clubs comments. Many of the fans dont give a sh** about our manager being violent to his wife yet are going all out to condemn some sticker making child. There is no proportionality in this and people are just reacting to the easy to react to issue and closing their ears to the much more serious problems at the club. My daughter plays football and i fully support attempts to promote equality especially addressing domestic violence Unfortunately you're not wrong about the hypocrisy of supporting Her Game Too whilst standing behind Barton, but I'm not sure there's much we can do as fans regarding Barton, especially as his court case is outstanding. At least HGT's aims are a lot more long term and will (hopefully) have a longer impact on the club and our culture than Barton, who will most likely be gone within five years.
