Thought that was a great interview. Clearly aware of some of the criticism he has been getting and is facing up to it. Even calls out Holloway for the BS article.
Also says "bookies seem to know what's going on" in relation to a new manager. So, unless that is sarcasm, it would suggest Barton?

Not even about budget - just look at the talent in the squad; no need for guess work. I’d of had JCH over their strikers. But JCH was a diamond in the rough, so probably didn't cost us that much. Fleetwood have/ had proven talent.

Widdrington just updated on this in the Pompey preview call. Interestingly he said that "candidates have put themselves forward. Some of them in jobs, some of them not in jobs". Wonder who the "in jobs" are? In the betting Duff is the only one that springs to mind. Also Rowberry I guess? I don't understand why Duff would apply for the job when his team are in the promotion places? I am not sure if the club want to be paying compensation either for anyone either. Those in a job probably don't have much if no league one experience at all. They are maybe coaches or academy team managers elsewhere, or just managing in a lower league. True, I was thinking existing first team managers. Although, I get the feeling he added it for a reason - i.e. it might take a little longer to work through/ agree comp etc.? Surely a club e.g. Cardiff, wouldn't block a coach from going to be a first team manager elsewhere? Or maybe they would, never really thought about it...

Not sure someone is automatically a wet wipe just because they haven't played or managed before. I've met many people in my life that have never had anything to do with football but are a long way from a wet wipe. People are allowing Garner to tarnish their opinion on others, which is wrong. Fine for you. But I will have had enough if I have to deal with another 20 games of a garneresque manager. "If". So based on Garner you wouldn't give a chance to another coach that hasn't played the game? Only bang average experienced managers it is...

The TW interviews are very prickly, aren't they?!

Nope, me too. Doubt he would agree until only the end of the season though?! With everything going on with him, surely an end of season contract with view to extend if he doesn’t get convicted, is standard? Yeah, I would expect it to be 2/3 year contract though. And we would then be able to cancel if he gets convicted. Even writing that feels wrong and is making me question it...

I see Derek Adams has gone up the betting odds a fair bit. Doing well at Morecambe and is Starnes’ mate from his Plymouth days. Would strike me as a bit of a McGhee type of appointment if it were to happen. Scottish?

Jesus, what a horrendously underwhelming list. I would rather give someone that has never has a go before (e.g. Rowberry) than any of the 'experienced' managers on that list. His coaching credentials look very good so as long as he has a bit more fire in the belly than BG I wouldn't be against it. You can say with a degree of confidence that Derek Adams and co. aren't going to do anything miraculous. They MAY steady the ship and keep us up but I wouldn't be going into next season with much excitement. Nobody knows what someone like Rowberry could do...

Didn't Widdrington say last time that he wouldn't want the job permanently? But then I suppose he knew Tis was coming in at that point so he would say that...

Find it strange that people seem open to the idea of Byron, but dead against Rowberry type. Is it because Byron has played? Or because he has a connection with us? Because if you take that out if it, Rowberry's coaching experience seems to be far superior

Not a popular choice but I think I would employ Joseph Barton until the end of the season, two reasons he knows this league well and we need someone to fire them up, the power point boys were both failures. He has something to prove and does not like losing at the mem! 😂😂 It's unlikely that Barton would want to join us anyway, let alone if we only offer him a contract until the end of the season - not a chance!

Rowberry down to 11/2. Given how random it is, I think there must be something in it...

Ollie Clarke and Chris Lines tweeting their support for Mansell. Not sure what it would mean, if anything, but Chris Lines has deleted his tweet. Strange, seemed harmless enough. Lee Brown has also said that he agrees with Mansell. I know they're all mates so it should be taken with a bit of a pinch of salt but it is interesting to see what the Pros think.
