Conteh the difference between the sides.stood out a mile from the rest. Said to my mates, won t be here long, very classy, with a great engine. If we can recruit similar like the owners have said is our intention exciting times ahead! Need the likes of Grant Ward, Hunt and Martin though for some experience. Yes. Great to have Conteh back but any fair minded person would see that we are going to struggle against anyone in this division with him as our only available central midfielder. Last week we didn’t have him either and yet a lot of fans still gave the team pelters with literally no midfield! To be honest, I think Taylor deserves a lot of credit for 4 wins out of the last 7 matches given our injury struggles. Evans back for the next game, hopefully Ward not far behind. This will make an enormous difference. Great to see Brown influential today and Sinclair back in the fold. We definitely have a side capable of pushing for the play offs. Just wasn’t quite meant to be this year but I hope we don’t get the massive clear out that our owner seemed to hint at. Just a few tweaks needed.

If the club cash in on Evans then that goes against everything they are saying in terms of rebuilding and aiming for the Championship in 3 years. I know we sold Collins but he was out of form and looked like he didn't want to be here, not something I see with Evans. He is one of the key players if we want to make a genuine good go at getting out of this league as I doubt we would get any better. Evans has a year left on his deal? If he's sold for c£1m and that money is reinvested I don't see that as a problem... Especially with £400k still in our back pocket from Collins. m True, but I’d much rather he sign a new contract. He’s a complete midfielder at this level.

Not sure if anyone else answered this yet, it was Northampton at home in October. Since then he's started 9 League games and we have W0 D1 L8...and not much of a better record over the same period when he comes off the bench - W3 D1 L1 (but for two of the wins he came on in the 89th min so effectively W1 D1 L1...) Being fair to him, up to and including Northampton at home in October as a starter he was P7 W3 D1 L3 and P6 W2 D3 L1 from the bench. To be fair to Grant he always seems to be used as a stop gap when we desperate, either at CB, DCM or LB, perhaps he just needs to man up and tell MT he's only going to play in his favoured position, whatever that is now? Assuming he leaves in the summer then it'll be interesting to see if he can rediscover his form elsewhere. Grant was a real athlete a couple of years ago but his injuries seem to have taken their toll. I watched him closely when I saw us play away at Barnsley and he can’t accelerate quickly after turning and therefore is pretty easy for opposition players to lose. Maybe with time and a proper pre-season he might get some of that power back but like you say, it’s likely to be at another club.

Three goals of real quality all round. I agree about Martin’s work for the first goal, but also Conteh’s crisp pass for the second, Evans’ surging run and cross, Martin’s desire to be first to that ball, Thomas’ work for the last goal and of course two fantastic finishes from Evans and Thomas. The difference between those goals and how tentative we looked for the two Stevenage goals is interesting. Loads of potential if we can get the defence/system sorted.

Absolutely agree, Alex Harvey's, the SAHB version is tremendous, "gud gud gud Irene" imo this is the version the team should come out onto to the pitch before the game to; it should also be played when the supporters leave the ground. This is a fantastic idea, I was brought up listening to SAHB, AH RIP. Like the SAHB version but another one worth seeking out is by Dr. John. Also for some alternative humorous lyrics the Bob Hope version is mildly amusing. I love Dr John but Tom Waits is my favourite version - sung in the style of the complete down and out that narrates the song.

With Matt Taylor as manager he won’t be afraid to give our youngsters a chance. Funny isn’t it Ward wasn’t exactly getting rave reviews on loan. Not sure he would have ever gotten a look in without the change of manager? Not sure what the point is in loaning to random non league clubs it hardly ever helps. Give them a chance in our team! Not sure he'd have got a look in without Cox conceding a soft goal v Exeter at the Mem? It's baffling why MT waited so long to give Ward a start. Only with hindsight. Good on Taylor for giving him a go now. He’s still very young and inexperienced. Hopefully he’ll get the rest of the season now.

Looking at that video - great strike, but did we get a bit of help from the ref? Wonder if he might have stopped it after colliding with the Exeter defender. Not complaining, though!

Yet some get annoyed if we are called Bristol Yes, I know. It’s a bit silly but I can’t help how it makes me feel! And he can avoid it, he probably knows what he’s doing. Facepalm time. I just realised I was listening to the home commentary - no wonder they say City! The guy sounds so much like Hoskins that I presumed it was the Rovers commentary!

Is anyone else annoyed at the commentator continually referring to our opposition as ‘City’? Grrrr. I’m conditioned to feel sick a bit sick every time I hear that word 😂 Yet some get annoyed if we are called Bristol Yes, I know. It’s a bit silly but I can’t help how it makes me feel! I would have liked an experienced central defender and possibly another wing back.
I think we’re relatively well stocked up front for the way we’re playing. Martin with Marquis as back up as the main striker, Evans, Brown, Thomas plus the two new loanees (and possibly Sinclair?) all viable options to play alongside, as part of a three or as a number 10. Conteh allows Evans to be deployed further up field. He is by far our most dangerous player. With Brown, we know that Taylor knows him inside out. There is very clearly a player in there going by what he achieved with Exeter and with Collins gone we might just see more of what he’s about now. It took Evans a while to adjust fully to league 1 and maybe the same will be true of Brown, who it’s also worth remembering had major stress in his life not so long ago. I’m certainly not one to write him off.

Tbh, I'll only be happy with this business if we find a good replacement. If we don't then its atrocious. I agree, but if the value’s not there I’m not against us pocketing the cash and spending it in the summer. Maybe get a loan in. It just depends on what we realistically think is achievable this season. Play offs seem a long way off and if we were to get promoted we’d be a million miles away from having a championship ready squad.

To be fair, I haven’t heard anyone say anything but good things about the way Rossiter conducts himself. Must be an awful thing to have to come to terms with, that everything you ever dreamed of doing might come to an end through no fault of your own. I hope he gets back to playing, whether it be with us or someone else. Clearly a class act at this level when fit.

I wouldn’t want to be losing Collins for less than £1 million, and even then I have my doubts as to whether it would be a good deal. He may have been lacking a bit in confidence recently but it’s still pretty clear to see that he’s a classy player at this level. The fact that he hasn’t been starting worries me that the plan is to sell him.
