It's the old double bluff - says he wants an easy tie like Rovers as he a) knows it would be far from easy b) he would probably be hated forever by his "supporters" if they lost to us - so in reality he actually didn't want us at all. UTG

Easy trip for me - last time I was there we were stuffed 4-0. Remember Steve Kindon running through and over Frankie Prince - funny how little things stick in your mind!! I was there that day too, League Cup & pretty much one way traffic. Also saw a very young Tony Pulis make his debut there in an unlucky 1.0 defeat when Million pound man Daly got the winner I seem to recall.

Careful Steve. If you don't express sainthood with Browner and Locks you might get some abuse. Much as I saw it, except I don't see what Lines brings to the party any more. Sercombe is such quality Lines is just excess baggage in my opinion. I'd put Broadbent in alongside Sweeney, and leave Lines out. That gives us an extra threat in the air from corners and free kicks, whilst Broadbent is also pacier than Sweeney. It could be a good year to grow him into the position so we no longer need Sweeney. Are you really suggesting Lockyer and Brown don't deserve sainthood after everything they have given to our club. Any criticism of these two is pretty unnecessary and unfounded. They both were excellent Saturday. Good win good 3 points good report Steve.

.....& yesterday Ellis looked about 10 times the player Beckford is & far more important within the game than Ajose.
I say we leave DC to make decisions on players & contracts and let Ellis get on with proving his worth.
Finally - Padstow - you are right - DC IS the best manager we have ever had, his record suggests that & he is doing a great job

Our present owners say the UWE deal wasn't in the best interests of BRFC. A new group want to push ahead with that deal. That doesn't sound like welcome news to me... Or "in the best interests of" the AQ's. That's fair enough isn't it as a) they own the club b) they fund the club c) they have the most to loose if it doesn't work!

Totally with respect Justice my learned friend. I wouldn't take it all too seriously if i was you. Someone has posted something he was told, nothing more, nothing less. Social media is full of this sort of stuff. Many people post 'rumours' which is all they can really be justified as without any concrete evidence. In fairness the InCider chap has been right about a few things and is only airing something he's heard. Whether it proves to be true is something we may/may not find out in the future. Until then i would ignore it if i was you because the fact is we may never know if it's true or not. Enjoy your evening. Back by popular demand. Couldn't be bothered before as Ive said before, too many children on here being hilariously funny. It took all this time for someone to come up with the definitive answer, as repeated above. I repeated what was heard and the people discussing it are well known to most gasheads. I was surprised to hear there were two potential prospects as I had heard only a snippet of one. It was the conversation in the West Stand that confirmed the rumour I had heard. No more, no less. That was what I posted, and suddenly I am being asked to name names, etc etc. All I know is as above. I like many others, don't believe it is viable to remain at the Mem. I hope, if that's our only choice, that I am wrong. What do I think will happen? Nothing. I think that the UWE failure will be allowed to fade, then sometime later we will be told the Mem will not be redeveloped. In our current layout, nothing can be built at the tent end, as the retaining wall there is not strong enough. So we would need to start buying properties at that end to reinforce it. Cost? No idea. We already know that to make a decent size stadium (20,000 plus) the ground would need to be turned round, so presumably it would be only about 15000 capacity. Doubtful that we could sustain championship football with that capacity. It's well known that it is cheaper to build a stadium from a clear site than one already developed. Severciders cousin who has helped develop several stadiums over the years could tell you. Though he is not a gashead, and not on this site. More importantly, to complete a rebuild quickly, we would need to leave for two years. ?The council will not be happy to let the locals live next to a building site for 4 or 5 years. If the Mem is rebuilt, how do we pay off the people putting up the front money? No, I don't know either. By the way Someone said there were reciprocal Heads of Terms, the vice chancellor confirmed on the radio that he was expecting to receive one, but hadn't, and we say we sent one. The question is, who is telling porkies? I hope it's the UWE, but again I don't know. Surely the most recently agreed PP for the Mem was a stadium capacity 18000 with enabling (financing) development of residential (student) accommodation, hotel and retail facilities within the redeveloped area. So that doesn't mean it needs to be turned around, would potentially provide funds towards the build and ongoing income in years to come. Sensible question to you B......Gasincider - were you asked to leak this by the people (in the know) in the corridors of power or did you decide yourself to divulge what they were talking about but not reveal any names or real detail. Is this disclosure in the best interests of BRFC & its current leadership?

Is it just me that cant see the planning going through with developing the mem. I really don't think it will happen. i think the uwe was our only really hope for us to progress further. There is a huge advantage one would think of BCC agreeing the original PP for the Mem revamp with hotel & student accommodation. That's a pretty strong precedent set & there may be ways of revisiting that. They would probably look favourably on a similar Stadium design with accommodation whether it be Student, hotel or residential & that might just be the enabling factor that could make the Mem attractive where the UWE were not prepared to allow that additional development by BRFC/AQs on their land.

Not read beyond the first few posts as it seems ridiculous to me and I will not waste my time reading it. But for christ sake! "The corridors of power"?! "If you were in the Royal box area Saturday"?! Who the bloody hell do you think you/we are? And how would any consortium or potential investors know the viability of UWE any better than the people who have been sat around the table with them for the past couple of years? Maybe you're trying to help, maybe you're gullible, maybe you're a WUM, I don't know. But these threads are laughable. I think I need a break from this forum as it really has gone to sh!t recently. Hang in there fella, we've not even hit September. Just think if we get no points at Bury, home to Fleetwood & at Bradford City - oh hell!

He said all the meetings have been conducted with DS representatives, so i guess he was not in the loop until a deal had been done Surely a Chairman should be 'in the loop' at all times? Especially if he is the one carrying the can if things go south. He isn't the Chairman of Dwayne Sports!

There is quite clearly not a plan B, just a brief statement saying we will now look for other options. Tin pot statement as far as I am concerned! Now wait for the first sale to cover recent purchases lockyer and ollie clarke first to go as soon as we gethink a reasonable bid then Brown leadbiter and Harrison. Why do you think we have signed in the main young non league players And wait for a planning application for housing on the colong to pay off the debts prior to the club being sold about xmas. In Wael we trust you been conned Why so bitter?

I've been supporting the gas for 50 years now, through the fire at Eastville, the dump at Bath, the poor conditions at the Mem I just hope that any redevelopment of the Mem or new stadium will have a walking frame park because if I've got to wait another 10 years I shall probably need one. Me too - it's been a long haul hasn't it - still what we never had we won't miss. UTG

However the charge is not against "our" asset - club is now pretty much owned lock, stock & barrel by the AQs who will use it as & how they please in the process of taking the club forwards.
Why would they go through all the cost & effort of the last 18 months to walk away when on the brink of something huge?

Wouldn't have minded him staying tbh. Should have stayed - we don't have anyone with his brain or skill including in the Board room and must have accepted a wage reduction at Yeovil - a great loss to us A great loss - hardly, I think you over estimate his achievements during his time with us. To me he has been pretty disappointing bearing in mind his CV prior to joining us in the Conference. Good luck to him if he goes to Yeovil.

It's his ground, he can sit visiting fans where he likes and can serve whatever food he likes. You don't have to go and you don't have to eat. The food at the Mem is sh**e. From the numbers who queue at the pastie huts & who eat around me at a game I would suggest it's not that bad, food in the boxes and in the function room under the Dribuild Stand has always been excellent when I have tried it. It's a football ground not a 3* Michelin establishment & I believe our offering is on a par with most others at our level.

Home shirt is a proper Rovers shirt - excellent, away shirt continues the Quarters theme and looks very neat but will it be seen on a dark Tuesday night at Bury??

Welcome to the club Tom - now one of many Toms! This reminds me very much of the Stuart Sinclair signing & a signing Yeovil made in the 90s - Steve Rutter ex Army & Police turned out to be one of the best players they ever had & now coaching at the highest level in the FA. Go for it & very best wishes Tom! UTG Also Guy Whittingham is another one who came into football late after being in The Army. He also played for Yeovil, before joining Pompey where he scored 48 goals in 1 season in what is now The Championship. Welcome to the club 👏 Guy Whittingham was amazing - signed for Yeovil after they paid £5000 to get him out of the Army. Quickly became one of the most sought after players around - like Pardew & others before him & had a great career finally managing Pompey for a short time not so long ago.

It does say to provide competition for central defensive positions. As we have no other left sided centre back, I presume another is on the way? Hopefully. On the evidence of the Weston game and the clips online I can only see Broadbent being back up. At 25 he's still very raw. Eas you say very raw but I'm told is a bit like Sincs and prepared to do anything for a late chance at League football. Very much back up I guess but probably very cheap and rated by DC so ok by me - UTG

If we sign another starting midfielder we could well be overcrowded in that area with Linsey, Sincs, Ollie & Sercs all looking to be regulars - think DC will go with what we have in that area with option of a signing in next window if needed.
Agree we need a big CF, a wide man & a big CH. Lambert, Wheeler and Sweeney would be fantastic!
