Do the goals they scored in the replay still stand? The match was still played and the result still stands (at least as far as I can tell from the press releases) - the only change is which team plays in the next round... Wonder which team gets the winners fee from the first round? It would mean a lot more to Horsham than it does to Barnsley.

Really? Correct me if I'm wrong but under Joey we always struggled to beat "lowly" teams. Other than Reading Mangan's team has beaten these so-called lowly teams and the defence seems to have been improved. Is the football as entertaining as Joey's team - no, obviously, but it's really hard to beat under Mangan. Let's see what happens at Derby on Saturday followed by Orient next Tuesday. 4 points would indicate Mangan knows what he's doing, 3 points wouldn't be bad, anything less and maybe there's a problem! I don't live past 1979....I respect your opinion but I don't feel Mangan is our man. RESPECT MY OPINION TOO! No need to shout - where did I disrespect your opinion - I simply disagreed with it. Is that not allowed in your little world?

As nice and likeable chap that Mangan is' he is nit the man to take us forward. I will be devasted if he is given the job as I personally believe it will end in heartbreak' maybe even for us come May Really? How long could it take to get a decision? Impossible to know. The objectors are allowed to speak and address panel. We know very little if there will be a last minute ditch. Will they be able to put pressure on a certain party ?. Will they try to get a defferal?. Have they come up with a last minute bombshell?. Let's Hope not and a basic facility which is much much much smaller than Ashton & GCCC will get the Green light ! You should have started a match day thread on this one! I'm forecasting a close win for Rovers, with an unexpected scoring opportunity for the opposing team which will be saved on the line in the last minute....

If ever we needed proof that Evans is vital, we've got it this half. Stupid 5 bookings and suspension rule! Disappointed with Wilson and Woods in particular. Don't think the tennis ball delay helped as we were well on top until that stoppage.

If anyone knows how to put this on Facebook or any other Rovers related social media. Please support and transfer information. This is an important decision for our club . Thanks. Okay, got replies from a couple of councillors. They suggest emailing democratic.services@bristol.gov.uk quoting reference 23/03826/F in the subject heading. This is because they are not allowed (officially anyway!) to form an opinion prior to the committee meeting but all comments emailed to the address I've just shown will be taken into consideration. So it's relatively straightforward for lots of us to submit one email each as you can guarantee the objectors will be doing exactly that.

Really wanted to go to this one, but I’m working til midnight, so if anyone can see their way clear to posting a summary of proceedings that would be great First of al, the turnout was pathetic - I think about 15 people besides the committee. This was possibly because the "guest speaker" wasn't advised in advance - in previous meetings, we've had Joey Barton, Darrell Clarke, Nick Higgs, Wael Al Qadi known about in advance which attracted decent turnouts. The AGM official agenda was passed and all reports agreed by the attendees, committee members up for re-election were passed unanimously. The only question was had Steve Lamble and Helen Wigmore met the new owners and Steve confirmed they had and that the new owners are super ambitious to progress the club to at least Championship level. The guest speaker was, in fact Byron Anthony who provided a lot of details about our application to be upgraded to Category 2. Currently, the academy is split over 3 sites, Lockleaze, SGS and Hill something or another (never heard of it before). The interim solution is for all age groups to be at SGS, which would qualify for Category 2, although more full-time staff would be needed. The funding is much higher from the Premier League and EFL if we get accepted for Category 2. Byron then made the mistake of asking for questions and comments. Two people then hogged the floor for over an hour and basically their questions could be summarised as "why is City's academy better than ours?" I was bored rigid and I don't know how Byron kept a straight face!

If p p is refused i dont think we will be redeveloping the memorial ground in the future If we had to we can appeal and I don't imagine that would be a problem. The other developments would not directly affect houses around the stadium, the only issue would be traffic, air quality and a transport plan which the club should get to work on now and even implement some of it before applying for the next phases. Just out of curiosity - how many people used the buses that TG organised a couple of years back? I assume they were stopped due to lack of interest! Like all things, if the cost of some kind of park and ride is too high, people just won't use it. As for air quality - really? What are the club supposed to do to reduce emissions (other than not selling hot spicy food and causing immense flatulence?) I guess the club could show there is a park and ride facility and it's not down to them if nobody uses it. What's the betting loads of objectors turn up at the committee meeting and not many supporters - I can see them now waving their prepared statements and getting stroppy when permission is granted in a repeat of the scenes when Sainsbury's planning was granted!

There is yet another splinter group (F.O.M.S) click below. Remember this new group ;NO to south stand is the 4th group of challengers. If you read below all is positive between locals and the club as long as the Memorial stadium stays . The last paragraph is the crux and should be used as supporting evidence to approve this application. memorialgroundbristol.wordpress.com/F.O.M.S "would support a community stadium" (first section ) !. Yes, that's the blog I got all the previous information from... Could be Nick Higgs got it wrong of course! He certainly wasn't the least bit bothered about the application! Let's face it, there's no way the local community could come up with the commercial value of the site!

We did everything by the book on previous applications but we have zero to show for it? What gets me is the protestors want the ground to remain a sports stadium but now we're trying to ensure that it does remain a sports stadium they are now objecting to those plans. This is from a blog when the Mem was declared an Asset of Community Value and added to the Bristol Local List in 2016, a decision driven by the local residents/pressure groups/political party who wanted it to remain a sports stadium and (I guess) are a similar group to those now opposing the South Stand: "...The Memorial Stadium is embedded in the local community: around it are people’s homes and gardens; nearby pubs, cafes and food outlets sustain visiting football fans. The sports ground gives character and historical significance to the residential area..." "...The Memorial Stadium (or Memorial Ground) has long been a very special local and city asset, inspiring the city’s youth to take up sport and to lead healthy lives for almost a century. The Memorial Stadium is used by Bristol Rovers FC, one of Bristol’s two professional football clubs, and is a venue for League level football matches. Spectator sport is part of the entertainment industry, and football fans further support the local economy, especially food and drink businesses. Cherished sporting memories of the ‘Mem’ stadium are renewed every season, and woven into the social fabric of the city..." "...The Covenant on the land, explicitly states that it should be used for sport or recreation, for the benefit of the community, in perpetuity. It should be nurtured and protected, allowed to evolve and adapt to a changing world. Sport in built up areas in England is special but declining, due to green spaces being sold off for housing..." It was not an Asset of Community Value - that was part of the stopping Sainsbury's plans stuff. The land is privately owned (and has been since 1920-ish). When this appeal came in I asked Nick Higgs at a BRSC AGM if this would create a problem selling the site and he confirmed it would not. An Asset of Community Value must have been used on a daily basis by the public WITHOUT needing permission of the landowners (hence the issue when City wanted to build a new stadium a few years back). Seems to me the local objectors will stop at nothing to prevent or delay permission!

I like this one (neutral apparently) from a resident of Alton Road - I'm guessing it's the woman I spoke with when I was taking photos of the parking on a working day a couple of weeks back: Commenter Type: Neighbour Stance: Customer made comments neither objecting to or supporting the Planning Application Comment Reasons: Comment:Honestly I'm sick of all the toxicity from the neighbours, the organised WhatsApp groups and local councillors getting involved for their own publicity. The reality is we moved here about 15 years ago and were strongly against the redeveloped stadium plans. This stand is half the size of that, which was actually approved anyway. Honestly the stand will bring more to the community than it takes away. We complained against the redevelopment, then against Sainsburys and stated the stadium must stay and now we're complaining about a temporary stand to modernise facilities. So what is it? We can't complain about parking on Alton Rd (mine) because it's private, so it's just complaining for the sake of it. Let's just get on with it and work together for once rather than the constant complaining and trying to stop the club progressing.

Personally wouldn’t be shocked to see the owners go completely left field and hire someone we’ve never heard of. Whos the next Kieran McKenna or Neil Critchley? Can see that too. Someone from abroad who has never managed in England before. Sometimes those appointments work, sometimes they fail miserably!Benny Lennardsen "He's fat, he's round, he took the City down Benny Hill, Benny Hill". My most favourite City manager of all time! Remember how the City scores got shown on our old scoreboard during the games, was loads of fun as they lost almost every week!

I feel this has more to do with off the field stuff rather than recent results. Anyway, all those people who would never watch Rovers whilst JB was manager will now be turning up in their droves! Should add about 20 to our attendance......

Must be interest in the old seats. Naming rights sold for £310 million. Revamp costs approx £1.5 billion 😯 They're currently flogging bits of the pitch for €50... Turf More?Did they borrow that pitch from Halifax? Looks awfully like the one we played on in the Conference!

Just been announced pay on day, card only with £2 increase on advance prices. Burton chasing the money - they've woken up to the fact that we have a good away following. Of course, the Twitter/X replies are all blaming Rovers for the late notice!

As a point of interest (and I have notified BCC) I grew up in Strathmore Road and the attached photo was taken in the back garden in 1965. Guess what - there's a bl**dy massive building at the bottom of the gardens, way taller than the SW stand, so in my opinion there is a clear history of a large building on that part of the site so really Rovers are simply restoring what was always there only making it nicer. Ignore dreadful youthful me in the photo! Don't know why the small image is upside down - it's the right way up when you click on it! Sure you weren’t in Australia?
