At least we are all enjoying the exciting football under Barton Well the problem here is, this tonight isn’t Barton football, so all the whingers that have said all the passing the ball around is pointless have got their way tonight and it clearly shows you’re all still not happy with long diagonal pointless balls like we’ve been used to for far too many years here. How about, all in the stadium get behind the boys 2nd half and see if Barton delivers a few rockets in the changing room!

They were talking about Harry Maguire on talk sport and Darren Bent said Chris Martin ‘properly bullied’ him for the whole game. He clearly showed his true class last night and made the simple things look easy and brought our wide men and midfield into the game time after time.
Hope he stays fit and he will be an absolute asset this season.

JB has every right to be annoyed if he thinks the player made a mistake playing on when he maybe should have come off, though what player hasn’t done the same while he still thinks he can contribute. What I have an issue with is Barton publicly shaming his players in the media. It doesn’t help anyone and frankly its embarrasing. Who’s it actually embarrassing for. Barton’s managerial future is always on the line, and if he’s going to be cheated by dishonest, over played average players then I find it all refreshing. Don’t get me wrong on a personal level I find it hard to like Barton, however, on a football management basis only, I think more managers should call out mediocre performances and bad decisions. Why are people offended by this? He clearly knows who to single out and who not to. Luke has publicly said how much he gets out of Barton being his manager and hence why he’s come back. Luke is more than a footballer, he’s clearly a young talented man with personal issues. If these issues are not dealt with head on, then it simply is not going to help him become a better person. Take it, learn from it, become a better person and player for it.

Still think we need him? Not for me. Would make the difference in tighter games. Would have grabbed a few today in our team.

I’m sure that this is going to be sorted and part of the plan, but did anyone else at the game tonight notice the very dark corner of the pitch where the new stand roof is blocking the floodlight.

Albeit against a really poor Cheltenham side, that was an enjoyable watch. Lots of positives; Bogarde was the best player on the pitch, the way he receives the ball on the half turn and the occasional drop of the shoulder was top class. Sadly, and been thinking it a while now, I like Marquis but his legs really don’t do what he wants and needs them to do. If they did he would still be a class no. 9 in this team. We need a free transfer no.9 asap!!!! Great night and Collins will start to pick up form now just need a few more going in off his knee etc. Woods looks like he is an intelligent footballer and another leader amongst the group, despite his strange running style, every touch he made tonight was intended and executed. Vale looked again to take up some brilliant positions when in possession at left back and will be useful in that role if we are sadly chasing a game. Hate a weekend without the gas. But yet more encouraging signs of some fantastic players. UTG Good points, but disagree about Marquis. I think in terms of hold up play alone, I agree with you, but in front of goal his feet do not seem quick enough. He’s scuppered a handful of half chances like the one that came across the 6 yard box tonight and when he rounded the keeper at 0-0 against Cambridge. I really hope he can prove me wrong.

Couldn’t agree more with Bogard being first class. Don’t mind the back to centre backs passing, if that’s the right option. See similar post on match day thread!

Yes stadium is incredible… built into a quarry. To get to the far stand you have to go underneath the ground.

Clearly not understood the principles of it all. It’s about lack of effort not making a mistake. We will all disagree with whether or not JB should be doing this in public, but if fans are saying a manager should not be setting standards that 100% commitment is a non negotiable then I think people are miss understanding his point to his methods and philosophy. I for one have had a guts full of the amount of players stealing a living at this football club pretending to be a professional footballer.. you have to earn the right and blood and guts is the bare minimum standard for me. So why didn’t he sub him? This is a great point. And by the way I agree that JB got the subs and tactics wrong 2nd half, but again it’s not from a lack of effort and commitment.

If Collins is criticised for ducking a header what does he say about Evans? He turns his back when going up, and rarely wins tackles. This wasn’t true of Evans last year, however maybe Evans is also on an effort error or two himself.

Yep but it’s what he does. Maybe Gorringe should publicly out Barton for terrible subs and formation change? Clearly not understood the principles of it all. Don’t necessarily agree with the not playing the young loanees theory. As with Connelly it gives a chance of signing them when their contracts are up. As they enjoy playing for us and the manger etc etc.

Serious question What does Loft bring to the game? Loft needs moving on at end of season. Big lump but zero quality sadly.

Barton in his time hasn’t got much wrong tactically. But changes and shape at half time were all wrong and played into Wycombe hands.

Played quite well that half, made numerous decent chances, very unlucky not to be at least level. Love Belshaw, bit dissapointing to being beaten on his near post, if the roles reversed, Wycombe keeper saves that. Look nervy at the back, missing a dominant central defender. Mistake Bogarde… great finish just have to accept that

Have to say, Matete 28 for muff absolutely dominated the game last night. Exactly what we need, a really mobile cdm. He was different class.
It is really clear that the conditions dictated the type of team JB put out and on a heavy pitch. Sensible decision but as some elude to, highlights where he needs to strengthen.
3 points Saturday, no problem!

Still feel sick as a dog at yesterday's result and the manner of it. Feels worse than a defeat. Can't bring myself to watch the goals back. Feel the same. I may be being hyper critical here and we have been so good at game management under Barton, however at the time I was fuming with Marquis for giving the ball away so cheaply on the edge of the box just before they broke to then be brought down. I know still a bit of defending to do before they scored the equaliser but just thought for a man of Marquis experience he could have done better. Any way lots to be positive about as we dominated that second half when we decided to show up and fleetwood aren’t a patch on us when we are firing on all cylinders
