I'm a Gashead as well but it doesn't mean I have a clue how to run a successful football league club. If it hurts him so much why doesn't he just accept the jobs beyond him and move on? I'm guessing he will once he can get his money back, and, despite what is said about him, as a loyal Rovers fan, he will first want to see a deal concluded which guarantees the future stability of the club in a new stadium. That's the contradiction he wants what's best for himself (getting his money back) and what's best for the club. He'll be very lucky to find somebody willing to pay for his mistakes.

Not sure about RK but GD definitely had some of his loan repaid hence why we had to borrow so much from MSP. I doubt GD would have suggested he only wanted part of his loan repaid if we could afford to repay him in full? I don't think Geoff wanted any of it repaid but when the court costs and other ancilliary items were paid off part of the surplus was used to pay some of his loan back Rather than reduce the loan that we're paying a very high interest on? Surely GD's interest rate can't be more than MSP?

I'm confident it'll be at the next Q&A sessions or come out in the review. What's the betting that's postponed again if an Appeal date is set for late November/early December? For it to be postponed it would have needed to be scheduled in the first place. I think when we were told that the club would organise Q&A session's they actually meant session. I'm not sure if I actually believe that a consortium exists or I'm just that desperate that I hope one exists.

I'm sure the club will communicate to the fans when a date has been set. Hahaha. You're new here aren't you? I'm confident it'll be at the next Q&A sessions or come out in the review.

Is this as close to getting word from the BOD that take over bids are actually going on? Why as fans we can't be given a straight answer is beyond me.
Sextone also said a potential takeover of the club could also negate the need to sell to Sainsbury's. In July Bristol Rovers denied the club has been sold.
"There are lots of things bubbling under, a takeover could potentially be one," he said.

It achieves whatever you want it to achieve. Remember it's not just you on here. It's obvious that like me a lot of people on here ARE excited at the prospect. This has been posted in good faith. I'm not into conspiracies etc. I picked up on this and thought it right everyone else should be made aware. If no one posted what they pick up on, this would be a very quiet site. As it happens, I now know that we have potentially an exciting future ahead. As I left the Mem on Saturday, I was disappointed, but just thought how pleased I will be when this gets its official unveiling, and more importantly the plant moves onto the site, which I am now more convinced than ever is going to happen. TBH I haven't seen many posts along those lines, I'd say the majority are like me, spectacle, apart from those claiming to be ITK? I think people are excited or will be when things are revealed. The problem must gasheads have is that expectations have been raised so many time around grounds etc.. that most people have the I'll believe it when I see if mentality.

I agree with your estimate of what the club is worth but NH may think that it's £1 for the club, £10m-£12m for the mem and then the repayment of the loans on top of that. So you think NH would want £22m for an asset worth at most £12m. Who does he think the consortium are, Sainsburys?
He won't get a deal like that anywhere. But more to the point he wont see a stadium built to its original spec either. So if he plays hardball, it can only be because he either loves the kudos of being chairman of a football league club, or he does want more money. Why would a so called Gashead hold out for ridiculous money if he loves the club? If you find out let everyone else know. It beggars belief. Unfortunately NH and reality aren't always that close. As you mention just look at the Sainsburys shambles. My comments are purely based on guess work and my opinion based on his previous actions. I'd love to be wrong and that this is all true, we be get a new stadium, new owners, good investment and a well ran club. I think we'll all been patient enough.

I maybe the only one but I think it could be beneficial to not to have a connection with the club. It can allow decisions to be make on a long term strategic basis rather than emotion. We all know as football fans being rational at times isn't our greatest strength.

So they would pay what NH has lost rather than what the club is worth as I don't think they're the same thing. Which is why I can see why things have stalled. Sorry, I just can't see where I said that. (ALL ?) By the way, just how much do you think the club is worth? I don't know, but if I hazard a guess, the football club is £1 and the Mem about £10-£12m. The debts are about that level. If a shortfall had to be covered I'm sure it would be. But it would be very little. We are knocking up interest payts of over £30k per month. "Vital is wrong with regard to NH's losses. They would clear all the debts." I agree with your estimate of what the club is worth but NH may think that it's £1 for the club, £10m-£12m for the mem and then the repayment of the loans on top of that.

Just remember TW has no interest in the club from a shareholding point of view. He is probably more worried about his future. The one thing about UWE some of you seem to forget is that no debt can be applied to the stadium. Rovers agreed that, and you can bet the new investors would have to agree that up front. I would love to see what assets they could then strip. If you mean the Mem, by then we will be at the UWE. I don't care what happens to the Mem then. In reality of course they are in it for the long haul. As to why NH doesn't deny the truth of this story, you have to say why should he. If he does he knows he could be caught on a lie. Why put himself in that position. His best bet, is to stay quiet. It needs the UWE or the Consortium to break cover. Vital is wrong with regard to NH's losses. They would clear all the debts. Topper, you are making assumptions. Are you making 2+2 = 5 again? Or is it the Mike Turl connection, who as far as I know has nothing to do with it. Without confirming or denying it, do the new owners have to be gasheads? I bet the sheik of arabi finds it difficult getting to Manchester to watch Ci*y play their home games in midweek. Or isn't he a Mancunian? So they would pay what NH has lost rather than what the club is worth as I don't think they're the same thing. Which is why I can see why things have stalled.

I have it on good authority from a VERY reliable source that it's possible that the duke of Guernsey (SL) is the main backer behind the consortium. His major plans potentially centre on revenue streams from conferencing facilities at the UWE stadium (looking to create a complete business conference planning and hosting business which covers the South West) but he could also want to bring Rovers under the Bristol Sport Ltd banner as a feeder club to City hence the plan to downsize the UWE to 15,000 capacity - I guess the idea is City push for the Prem and Rovers are the "development squad" at around L1/Champ level. I do know a bit more than I'm saying here but I have to keep that to myself for legal purposes. I hope you all understand that I've taken this decision very seriously and in the best interests of the club. I've made the call on making this public, guys. You're such a funny guy.

Are there offers on the table to buy them out? Or are ther offers on the table to invest in exchange for shares and power, diluting the power of the current shareholders? There is suggestion flying around that it's only the latter, which whilst being good for the future of the football club (or better than what we have now) would be not so good for Chairman Higgs and his cohorts who are probably more focussed on getting their money back than the long term good of the football club. Supporters have to be wide awake to the fact that the interests of Higgs and the interests of the FC are two very different things and there is high risk, in fact a very high risk that Higgs will do what is best for him rather than what's best for the FC. However, until plan B is revealed or Plan A is confirmed dead there is nothing tangible for the supporters to protest against. Maybe it needs potential buyers or investors to make public any frustrations they have in their dealings with Higgs? Feelingtheblues. You're third para is spot on. Especially the last bit. As for selling shares to other investors that approach has already been attempted by friends of the club but NH will not release shares. He wants investors but will not dilute his holding. Even today he announces a new NON EXEC DIRECTOR. Of course the main thing is he doesn't have to give him loads of shares. This is all about power, and his decision to retain control and bugger the consequences . My post was out of pure hope and desperation rather than confidence of a multi millionaire waiting in the wings but that's how bad things appear. It is very concerning that posters such as yourself & JTS are so worried about plan B. I can't see NH leaving without getting his money back and it appears he doesn't want to share power so I can't see any other options.

People keep quoting Swansea. For every Swansea there is a Coventry. Sadly it looks like the Coventry model is the one we most closely resemble. No, this is all about NH retaining control. How dare he put the future of this great football club at stake due to his ego. And to appoint Sexton to the board just caps his performance. This club will die if it is not freed from his control, but he doesn't care. The best way to stop this is to make sure the UWE and S Gloucs council understand that we the fans want no part of this. There have to be better options! and the first is getting rid of this inept chairman. And yes there is an alternative. Exactly. Not to mention Darlington. Similarly I don't understand how people don't recognise that there are still only 24 places in the Championship and 20 places in the Premier league. Having a ground redevelopment can't magically guarantee you a place there. What happens once more than 44 clubs have decent stadiums? They don't make those two leagues bigger do they? Man City and West Ham (are about to) rent their grounds. I think this maybe the only way we can rid ourselves of NH. If we move and pay him back (the money he's lost!) then we'd have a chance of a wealthy investor buying the club based on potential. I know this is an extremely long shot but it's all we've got left. The long NH stays (at the Mem or at UWE) to closer we get to going out of business or becoming a non entity.

I think the board buy in is the reason for most of the pessimism. As a supporter people will still want some sort of value for money. If the BoD don't acknowledge or listen to a supporters trust then people will ask why put in money.
Unfortunately, the club already has a history of this.

There were teams in the Conference last year who's season tickets weren't much cheaper than ours. And look at the attendances in the lower leagues. Unfortunately, 4th tier football in a run down stadium (even if we charge the market rate) isn't very attractive. To answer the OP I think that's why we don't see as many people at home games that we'd like. Personally I haven't been for the last 2 seasons as I decided it was the only way to show that I'm not happy with how the club is currently being run.

I wish we lived in a place where people actually cared about their local football team that has been here far longer than they have. F*cks me off to the eye teeth to see the new uni students all wandering around in their Bath Rugby tops in freshers week when there's a football club dying on their doorstep. The key bit is why is is dying. Rovers is very expensive for what is 4th tier football. As mentioned on here from the first game of the season it isn't exactly a great match day experience for the money either. That all sounds very corporate and not very old school football but it's the way of the world now.

Casey, or, they win the appeal and all is well ? who knows, it's part of lifes rich tapestry. All things go around, good, bad, good, bad, round and round it goes, where it stops no body knows. That's if you believe that good and bad things are all due to luck. I believe that in business if you do good things, good things happen. If you do bad things then you end up out of business (or millions in debt).

We do not need articles like this in a local paper, we need everything to be perfect, we get promoted every year and we make millions. These boards inc twitter and facebook have people of genius on them, they can run the club and make everything well. More than likely they could not run the birds off the garden and live in bedsits sat at the old PC in dirty, egg stained string vests and P stained pj's, but they deserve a chance, lets get behind them and see where it takes us ! Come on Gasheads, are you ready to march ? WARNING , before starting this please remember, we have the staying power of a 13 year old on his first night of passion, we say a lot but we only stay on track for about a week before we slip back into doing..........NOTHING. Sometimes we just have to accept someone else, how ever bad they are at doing something just might do it better than we can. So this is the best our club can be run. How depressing. Sadly with hole NH has dug administration is probably the only way change can happen.

I think the lack of plan B really is the biggest disappointment. Most people thought it wouldn't be the case but still had a tiny amount of hope that they'd be proven wrong.
Maybe administration is the only way to get rid of the BOD and move the club on.
