I spent 5 good seasons at Avon back in the early noughties, really good family club back then with yearly tours to Devon and many summer tournaments around the west country. I'm waiting for my daughter to grow a bit and try getting her in!
Still playing home games on New Road by Filton High?

I'm pretty sure he scored against us earlier in the season? In that defeat at loftus road? Thought he got the MOTM as well that night, unless I'm thinking of someone else. The night their left winger absolutely tore James Clarke to pieces.

Oldham athletic in a 4-4 draw. 3-0 down and 4-3 down but kept fighting back. Since then I was hooked on away days!

As soon as I heard his voice again I actually felt a tad emotional! Like "what have we done?" It took me back to the radio interview with 20man which he referred to in this one which was the point for me, and many others, where I was sold on him.
I know it was probably right to move on at the time he did but my god I miss his unique style, I genuinely don't know if we will ever get a manager again who talks so well and honestly.
Listened to the whole thing and really enjoyed it, I hope he gets a job soon and I'll definitely be following his career and will probably develop a bit of a soft spot for his next team!

So when you quote all the goal records of various strikers on here do you always make sure you subtract their penalties or free kicks? Sometimes. Even with penalties, 8 was a poor return last season I'm sure you would agree? I'd say his record this season suggests he knows where the goal is and is in form. That's probably the best we can hope for. Not sure looking at previous years form at Yeovil should put us off, look at Tom Eaves record at Yeovil, 4 in 40...

Was he there today?
He got some abuse from us, especially in the first 20 mins today.. there was someone in box 1 who looked slightly like him but he got up and clapped when Fleetwood scored so I wasn't sure it was him...
Certainly didn't get a warm welcome if was him!!

Protest? Really? For me DC will go down as one of the only managers in my time that I'll look back fondly on and who I will forever see as a gas legend. But if he stayed I just couldn't see us getting out of this mess. Just listen to his last 4 or 5 interviews, he was dejected and we heard a different side of him to previous years. He's tried everything he had this season to turn it around and nothings gone for us, a change was needed.
How about instead of a protest we all turn up and sing his name in appreciation and then cheer on the boys to a much needed win?

It was the collapse of the UWE that did it for me with the AQ's. It was perfect, great location, transport, potential revenue, design etc. I can't see us ever getting anything as good. Surely we could have negotiated for that better deal with them, were talking about some boffins at a mediocre university, not the leaders of the bloody EU! I just can't believe that a good deal for all couldn't have been struck.
Saying that I still do believe we're in a better position now than under the previous lot, and can't blame them at all for todays announcement, football wise it had to happen, we need a fresh start. We made a change at the similar time of the season sacking Buckle and McGhee and both times the new man steadied us, brought in some decent additions and more than kept us up. There's enough still to play for for this to happen again.

To play devils advocate here, and correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't DC backed financially more than any other manager in our history?! He was crying out for more, which is fair and probably what every manager up and down the country does, but he has spent a fair amount. 200k on Payne, similar on Nicholls, fees for the likes of Mensah and even Bliss! Other than Sercombe has he had any decent signings with fees? All his best work in the transfer market were free transfers, Bodin, Taylor, Sinclair, Mansell etc etc. I'm still on the 'we should have kept him' side but anyone saying he wasn't backed financially needs to look at the facts! I just hope we give similar amounts to the new man in January, god knows we need to. No, he wasn't backed financially. All of the money he spent he earned for the club. Ok, fair point. But by that shouldn't previous managers have had millions to spend with all the strikers were made money from over the years! We sold Ellis, bodin and Taylor for a combined total of less than what we sold Lambert for, is that correct? Not sticking up for the owners, just putting in some perspective. Would people rather higgsy, boycie and watola still running things?!

and that twat of a defensive coach is in charge......... What makes you say that? Don't know much about him but our 'conceded' figure this season is very good, isn't that his job? It's the other end that is the problem!

Some well ott comments on here! I'll always love DC to bits, proper honest manager and proper gashead who gave me some of my favourite rovers moments, but this is football! How many other teams would keep their manager after the last 40 or so games? Fresh start is needed now with someone who has to be backed in Jan, this is key. Results are all we need this season so WAQ this is the most crucial decision you've had to take, don't f**k it up!
Btw unlike others I'll be going week in week out to support the players and new manager, if we want to get out of this mess we all need to be in it together, not just give up and say things like "were relegated now" or "this is the final straw". There's so many points to play for and a transfer window. Sad day but also an opportunity, UTG

Did you go when we got relegated to the conference for the first time in our history with O'tool, Alan Gow and Shak Hunter being paid to play for us?
Did you go after losses to Barnet, Braintree and Altrincham whilst Alex Wall, Bradley Goldberg and Jamie White were walking aimlessly around the pitch?
Or how about:
Did you go when we finished 2nd bottom of the football league under Francis/Thompson whilst Alvin Bubb, Ross Weare and Clinton Ellis were our strikers?
Did you go when Graydon led us to 20th in league 2 and we lost at home to Boston United in the league cup preliminary round?
Did you do when Atkins's horrific tactics led to a drubbing at Chester and several fans turned their backs for the whole game?
Did you go when trolls/patterson/penny/Campbell relegated us to league 2?
Did you go when buckle took the pi$$ out of Bristol and we got hammered at home to Crewe?
Did you go when McGhee played Virgo up front, Parkes left wing and Browner and smudger centre midfield? Then brought in Guy feeking Branston to save the day?
If you can answer yes to any of the above then you have to go tomorrow as we are in a far better position on and off the pitch now whatever it feels like!

Well that was dreadful. Can't believe I wasted a tenner to watch that.. feel for those 198 who now have to spend the night on the motorway. Slow, lethargic, no quality, and it seemed no will to play any football. They were there for the taking, no one has conceded more than Rochdale this season and their keeper was red carded and we played the second half like that.
I suppose at least we didn't lose...

Is Sercs injured? Just asking as the three posts above all have team predictions with him missing and I thought he was excellent on Saturday and would certainly be in my team!...
Predicting and choosing a midfield is very difficult these days due to the strength we have there which is fantastic!

Great performance today, lots of positives and really should have been out of sight before Wycombe gave us a nervy last 10. I had my doubts seeing 4 centre backs and no wingers but it really worked today. I'm not a fan of Sercs playing out wide but today he played well out there, Matthews was again impressive and the front two fantastic. Payne is exactly what we needed and was still sprinting closing down the keeper in the last minute, full of running and effort with quality to go with it. It was also the best I've seen of Nicholls.
DC got it spot on today and even know Wycombe were poor we had to do what we have struggled to do over the last couple of years and win away and we did convincingly, even if the scoreline didn't suggest that.
Still things we need to improve on but we're off the mark and going in the right direction for sure. Tough game on Tuesday next up but I believe we can beat them.
Enjoy your weekend fellow gasheads!

Brought mine this afternoon at the shop no problem at all. The ladies at the shop very helpful and the shop itself very impressive.
The shine slightly taken off by how behind the times we are in terms of having to scribble down my seat number, name and address along with adding my dash to a pretty busy looking tally chart on a crude hand made spreadsheet on the desk... made me slightly worried how we will cope cashless with the new ticket system if we're still in the living in the 19th century with our sales recording techniques. Like trying to engineer a Ferrari only weeks after inventing the wheel.
