I'm probably in the minority by not being bothered by his leaving, and anything over £500k would be a decent bit of business by the club. Just hope all the proceeds can be spent on the squad.

Sounds like change for change's sake. Very sad to hear that someone doing a top job was treated so disrespectfully.
In general, the way the club communicate now is pretty disappointing. There's hardly any update on important issues, and then on those rare occasions there are club announcements they come across either blasé and/or abrupt with minimal detail.
Let's just hope the team gets off to a flying start to distract from what's going on off the field.

If it wasn't an issue I doubt we'd be discussing a new tent stand, by now we'd probably be mulling over initial plans for a new stadium or re-development. It sounds like we already are as we have had consultations with local residents about the mem and have already mulled over plans for a new stadium at UWE only to turn it down. Even if it was announced tomorrow that we had architects plans to redevelop the mem, we would still want to keep the tents so that we could maximise revenue at the mem over the next couple of years. I've not heard about consultations taking place with local residents about redeveloping the Mem. In which case perhaps progress has been made and I spoke too soon. Was there an update on the BRFC website?

No argument from me there. But I clearly recall Wael saying finance was not an issue. Can't you remember that? Wonder if proof of funds was ever submitted. Is there any proof anywhere that finance is an issue? If it wasn't an issue I doubt we'd be discussing a new tent stand, by now we'd probably be mulling over initial plans for a new stadium or re-development.

I would love to see something from the club, like an artist impression of what they are actually doing, so we all can see what is going on instead of getting confused and guessing what it will look like. You'll see it first hand in its full magnificent splendour soon enough. Just need to have a little patience m'lad.

I am glad I am not the only one who thinks this. Rather than spend money on rented tents, tarting up the SC bar and buying portakabins and sheds, together with the electric turnstiles and new toilets, all of which must be costing somewhere between £250-£300k, surely that money is put to better use architecting and investing in a whole new stand and building that can house all of the above? Ok the cost would be more like £5m but the return on investment would surely be higher than the cobbled together polished turd we will have come August. Well, everyone complained NH didn't spend a penny on the Mem while trying to build a new stadium, and now everyone is complaining that Dwane is spending on the Mem while trying to build a new stadium. That's the problem, I've seen no evidence they're trying to build a new stadium.

So you're happy to wait another 2 years before we're told why pp has not been submitted for the colony? I doubt if the rest of the fan base will be so patience. I'd rather wait 2 years or more for news that it's being built than hear tomorrow that the deal is off. If the news comes through that the Colony or the redevelopment isn't happening, then will be time for questions. I'd like to think too that answers would then be forthcoming as there shouldn't be any confidentiality agreements with third parties to consider/hide behind (delete according to point of view). If the training ground development was scrapped I for one would have not one ounce of faith they would announce it. I think it would follow the UWE pattern of deathly silence, bit of question dodging, then a forced admission following a leak. I'm amazed how many people seem to be giving the owners the benefit of the doubt, believing that really they're beavering away behind the scenes on an alternative stadium plan (beyond a new tent), and there's no need for any communication with the fans until there's something to report. Wake up.

Don't get half the arguments on here. Whether they have money or not. They still aren't going to build a new stadium it would seem. Would love that to not be my take on it, but there is no evidence as of yet to suggest they are even close to a plan, we don't hear any thing meaningful from Wael and certainly haven't seen anything happen. Yep I agree, it's like they've bought a new house and are spending a few quid on a lick of paint and a few Wilko scented candles, when what's really needed is a new roof and the the massive crack running up the back of the house sorted out.

Maybe we need to capitalise on our current position. We could offer up each of our temporary stands for sponsorship: £5k per stand per year. Within a few years we'd be bringing in £100k p/a - which could be added to the transfer kitty

I reckon we should acquire a giant tarpaulin to cover the whole of the ground. We'd be the only stadium in the football league with a retractable roof. That'd wipe the smug grins off the away fans' faces!

Have to say this has been one of the funniest threads I've read in a while!
I suppose all you can do is laugh as our tent city expands. I just hope security is tight next season as the damage just one hooligan and a stanly knife could do to our ground is pretty scary.

I think he should be cut a bit of slack. I'd rather see a dad who cares about his son like that than the opposite. It's a bit embarrassing for LE though, and he's probably already pointed that out to his dad!

I don't know, looking at the safe standing rails it seems just a little too safe to me. If it's not proper terracing i doubt it will feel the same and I'd rather just have a seat. I'm sure I'm in the party pooper minority here.

It's a shame that the evolution process appears to be running so painfully slow that fans feel the only option is a whip-around.

Some great pics. I can't believe all of those amazing highs have been crammed into only 4 years - it feels like so much longer!

Walking away from the biggest opportunity of having a respectable stadium, what they are going to do, what they are doing? where, who and when? From memory, over past 2 years, we've been told: the club need a new stadium uwe is the only option, rebuilding the mem is not viable option the uwe deal wasn't right? (why?) we are looking at other sites we will redevelop the mem.... Try make sense of it all, screams lack of direction to me. Just communicate what is happening. its getting embarrassing. They walked away from the UWE deal for the good of the club. Only the owners know what direction they want to take us, and that's their business. I would guess a stack of confidentiality agreements, and keeping their cards close to their chests means they would be stupid to go releasing information. I believe they walked away from the UWE deal because they were short of cash to push forward. Pulling out "for the good of the club", without giving specifics, is just a wishy washy excuse in my book - and the only thing they could come up with really.
In my view, we've received no update on future stadium plans because there aren't any.
Having no expectations does make it a lot easier to focus on the "now" and to just enjoy the football - that's the positive I'm taking from all this!

The few times I've been in hospitality IH did a great job.
The 'statement' by the club comes across as absolutely classless. Even if he did leave under a cloud, for god's sake we're meant to be a professional football club - show some dignity and wish him all the best for the future.

And unless someone tells me differently with proof, I'll continue to believe Wael. He's given me no reason thus far to think he's a liar. Not calling him a liar 🤥 but think he’s telling us what we want to hear ,how about believe it when you’re sat in it ? That's how I look at it, too. The owners' comments / actions to-date leave me with the impression they're not sufficiently wealthy to be prepared/able to take a risk on a big investment such as a new stadium (or a major tarting-up of the Mem). That's fair enough, because few people are - just be honest and transparent with the fans.

It seems he's just chucked a bunch of random names into the list, given in my message I stated I hadn't even listened to the interview.
Though, as far as I'm concerned it sounds like the interview is just another holding measure to string along the fans for another several months. After what's gone by, seeing is believing.
You really think that? He's stringing the fans along? See, I didn't get that at all. I don't see what he has to gain by doing that. I do, yes. I just think maybe owning a football club is a bigger and more expensive job than he realised. I know I'm quite negative about our position, but I wasn't always like this. I hope one day I'm sat in a 17k+ all seater stadium either where we are of or elsewhere. Can't see it, but haven't got much other choice but to wait and see how this plays out...

An interesting interview and interesting thread. So many saying that the wrong questions were asked or not asked - those being Toppergas, Baggins, Singupgas, Sallycinnamon, Gas365, xplosivegas, markczgas, and Dinsdale I do hope you all will be at the AGM on 12 March 7.30pm so that you can ask the questions you say should have been asked. Only shareholders allowed but with such strong opinions, you are all bound to be shareholders? Oh and a special award to Gertrude1883 for the best post on this thread so far - loved it! Excuse me???!! Where have I EVER mentioned anything about the questions being asked or not asked??? It seems he's just chucked a bunch of random names into the list, given in my message I stated I hadn't even listened to the interview.
