Is having an opinion thinking you know better than DC? I will always have an opinion or should I just sit back and say "In DC I trust". Wouldn't be much of a forum would it??? We all got opinions so carry on Stevek

Totally agree with your sentiments Steve. We are definately lacking at least four players and although DC has said he is after four, whether they will be of the standard required to push for a play off place or better is an unknown at this time. My fear is getting off to a poor start and rushing to get in four at the last minute at the end of August may well prove to be a false economy. As regards your match reports. Although I attend all home games, I only get to a few away and appreciate reading your reports. Hope you can find the time to keep writing them, ignore the few on here who slate you, There are plenty who enjoy reading your honest assessments me included. UTG!

Would prefer four in before Charlton - we always start slow, so would be good to have them in and settled. Also, don't know why you need to leave it up to 31st - if you know who you want - go get 'em DC!

I agree we are a bit short at the moment. And DC has said this himself.
Let's hope the next 4 are quality. I've got a suspicion we're going to see more loans forwards the end of August.

You just seem overly critical of most things he does. Also Broom, why be so critical of one of our youngsters who has hardly been given a chance? I think your lack of respect for DC results in a lack of respect for your posts on here.

GGMI, To be honest I don't give a damn whether or not people respect my posts. They are my opinions. Nothing more and nothing less. At least I don't hide behind in DC we trust!Of course you will know all about lack of respect!. As regards Broom sorry but at the present time I don't see him as good enough to be anything other than make up the numbers in the squad but time will tell and I hope he proves me totally wrong.

Goalkeepers - I think the signings of Smith and Slocombe are decent and gives the best competition in that area we've had for ages. Lumley did very well though, and whether we have signed a better player individually is yet to be known. Defenders - We've added competition in the LB position, so I'm happy with that. Sweeney is a big loss, but hopefully we can still bring him back or sign someone of similar quality. Broadbent seems a bit raw, an unknown quantity at this level having jumped 5 levels from a relegated Southern Prem side, so it would be a lot to ask him to step straight in to a side supposedly looking for promotion, but fingers crossed he does. We still need the left sided CB that DC spoke of though, hopefully a quality one. More competition in CB areas, but overall I'm not neccessarily convinced of improvement at the time of this post. Midfield - I have liked what I've seen of Sercombe previously and he strengthens the attacking CM area, but I still think we need to add an extra defensive option too, like DC also said he wants. The winger signing is another key area to be filled, with Bodin the only real threat in wide areas. Overall need to add more quality to say an improvement, but the DCM and LW signings could change that. Strikers - We still haven't replaced the goal threat of Taylor for me, so the striker that DC is looking to sign next will hopefully be that man. I'm not convinced Nichols is a 20 goal man, but he is younger than Easter and will add more goals than he would've provided. The next striker addition is key for me, quality needed to say an improvement IMHO. The centre back, defensive midfielder, winger and striker signings will likely define our season and I'm looking forward to seeing who we bring in. Spot on.

Still think we need a winger, a center half and a striker.
The players brought in so far are an improvement on last year's squad.

If you don't care then why say you will stop the match reports? But he is only 19/20. Yes he is not good enough to be first choice yet but I can see potential for him to develop into a useful player for us.

Thought he was signed by Geoff Dunsford who got fed up of waiting for Trollope to sign someone. Who the f*ck is Geoff Dunsford? Or are you deliberately mispelling his surname? Who the f*uck is philmemmyass? Or have I deliberately mispelt the name?

Why can't you just wait till Aug 31st? Surely it will be a fairer comparison then? Also, we didn't lose the loanees as they weren't ours to begin with. Just calm down, I'm sure DC knows what he's doing. 'Cus it would be nice to pick-up some points in August?

"Or have I deliberately mispelt the name?" You have also misspelled 'misspelt'.

I have to admit with a central defence of Locks & Broadbent/Burn and a strike force of Gaffer/Ellis with Nicholls and no replacement for Monty then those games in August do look tough one's, don't forget even with Sweeney & Taylor in the team we only drew similar games last December/January.

With now just over a week to go to the first match looking at the ins and outs since the last game against Millwall how do you think DC's summer has fared? OUT Lumley, Mildenhall, Puddy, Sweeney , Harris, Hartley , Clarke-Salter, Montano, Easter,Mansell, James TOTAL 11 IN Slocombe, Smith,Broadbent, Bola, Sercombe,Nicholls TOTAL 6 I have to be totally honest and say underwhelmed with the business thus far as I was a month ago but at that time in didn't really matter but now there is only just over a week to0 the first game and as I see it we are nowhere near ready to compete better than last season. Goalkeepers 2 steady keepers signed but Lumley was questionably our best player so the positive is that both keepers are ours but are either better than Lumley. My thought - Good dealings by DC but not better. Defence 2 unknowns brought in both inexperienced and we have lost Sweeney; who along with Lumley was our best defender; Hartley,Clarke Salter and Harris. My thought- We are far worse off both ability and experience.Dealings to date very poor. Midfield Mansell our only lost and has been replaced by Sercombe . My thoughts I would say this is a plus and I see Sercombe doing a good job and being a regular Wingers Montano was our only loss but to date no replacement and Bodin ands Moore are our only wingers. My thought Poor to date if we are to play 4-4-2 Forwards Lost James and Easter and signed Nicholls. My thought is that we look very short of goalscorers but Nicholls is a positive as james scored nil and easter not enough but in truth DC has not got us (to date) a top goalscorer . Overall my prediction for the season would be a finish of 16th and whilst some will say we have until the end of August to complete transfer business I would say that is fine if we are after players to fill the squad but IMO we are after 3 or 4 players to actually START and these should be in the building BEFORE we play Charlton. What do others think other than In DC we trust? Got to be honest, I tend to agree and said something similar in another thread. We're weaker in goal because I don't believe either of our new keepers are as good as Lumley. However, both are competent so I'm not overly concerned about our keepers. We're weaker in the centre of defence because we've lost McChrystal, Clarke-Salter, Hartley and Sweeney with only Broadbent - who has never played league football - coming in. Not only are we short on numbers but from what I've seen of Broadbent I don't acually think he is as good as Hartley yet. Although I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't end up being a better player he still looks like he has a lot to learn so not really ready to be thrown into league 1 football at this stage. So in my opinion short on numbers and quality. Full back positions are similar to last year with Bola coming in for Harris. Not sure whether that's an improvement or not at this stage. In the centre of midfield we've lost Colkett and Boateng and replaced them with Sercombe so we're short on numbers but probably on par in terms of quality. We're weaker out wide because we've lost Montana and haven't replaced him. We only have two recongnised first team wingers in our squad and based on their appearances last season I'm not convinced Moore is a better option tham Monty. We're weaker up front because we've lost Taylor, James and Easter with only Nichols coming in. So we're lacking quality and numbers because none of our current strikers will get 20+ in my opinion. The 4 sigings DC wants to make are essential if we're to have a decent season and at least 3 of the 4 need to be better than what we have. The centre back, winger and striker have to be good enough to be in the starting 11.

When comparing the squads, we cant really say we have 'lost' Lumley, Sweeney and other loanees - they were never ours in the first place.

You're comparing the squad now to the squad throughout last season. I think midfield and fullbacks are a lot stronger for example as Boateng and Colkett didn't offer much at all abd we have so much depth in the full back positions now.
