Does anyone know much about the The Shrews ? - who are their danger men ? what formation they play ? I admit I've hardly heard of any of their players - their keeper is on loan from Man U and has done well apparently. I know they're joint top. You don't know a lot then because they are 2nd!

I would do this. ________________ Slocombe ______________ _______ Lockyer _ Broadbent _ Sweeney _____ Partington _____ Lines ___ Sinclair _____ Brown ________________ Sercombe ______________ ____________ Gaffney ___ Telford __________ I feel this isa strong back line. Both wing backs have a good assist record this season and against an unbeaten side, Partington and Brown will have an important role tp play tonight in ending Shrewsbury's run. Clarke hasnt been great recently. Sinclair runs and runs and his energy can make it a bit easier for Sercombe to get forward to support our attacks. Lines needs to have 1 of his better games for us tonight. Harrison has done well recently but I think the Shrews will believe he will start and will have a plan for him. If Harrison is used as a sub then his pace will be valuable in the later stages. Gaffney will put himself about and will compliment Telford well. Telford, I feel, deserves a chance to start and this will be unexpected for the Shrews to predict. I would fancy Telford scoring tonight if he starts. This did cross my mind tbh. If there is one striker they will be expecting to start then it will be Ellis. I would start with Moore, the opposition will be laughing so much he might score. Do we get double goals if we play our joker?

I have a good feeling about tonight but it completely depends on which Rovers side turn up. If we get on the front foot and look solid at the back then we can get a result, if 3-4 players underperform and we produce another dreadful away display then we can't expect much. I reckon after the weekend we will see a return of Sweeney and Brown. Slocombe Brown Lockyer Sweeney Partington Clarke Sercombe Lines Harrison Gaffney Nichols 2-1 Gas Not sure Nichols deserves another start? I'd go with either Telford or even Sincs from the start and then use Nichols as an impact sub.

It's an abbreviation of Shropshire, which doesn't make sense....

I think Nichols will come good and become an important player for us as we know he can score goals in this league, from what I've seen it's only a matter of time before he finds the back of the net. I think Telford would make a better impact sub and as for sincs I wouldn't even consider playing him in a front three. It might be worth having another look at how Nichols gets on in a two playing beside either gaffney or Harrison as I'm not sure pushing him out wide is the best option. For me he's a similar player to Taylor and I can't see Taylor getting too many if he was forced out wide.

I think most on here think Moore is a waste of time so surely Ryan broom should be given game time !? He's a natural wide player and has shown signs of improvement - dev matches ! We lacked width on the right on Saturday, so DC chucked on Moore - but it had no effect. Would be happy to see Broom even start tonight - so that we can ask questions down their left side - either that or gamble that Leadbitter is fit enough to start and go up and down from full back - Partington is steady but hasn't got the energy levels or speed.

The fact that Broom couldn't even make the bench or isn't getting ahead of Moore tells it's own story unfortunately. DC has shown he is not afraid to throw a player in if he feels they are ready. Maybe he feels playing Broom at the moment would be because of Moore not being good enough as opposed to Broom doing well. Long term that can't be good for Broom's development.

I admit I've hardly heard of any of their players - their keeper is on loan from Man U and has done well apparently. Just signed up to put our side of things across for tonight. We generally lineup with a 4141 formation. GK Dean Henderson - on loan from Man Utd, rated highly but inexperienced. RB James Bolton - steady, although not spectacular, non league purchase. CB Toto Nsiala - great in the air, big, strong but has a mistake in him. CB Matt Sadler - left back all his career but moved across centrally and has been brilliant. LB Junior Brown - again steady, gets forward well, possibly can get outdone in the air. CDM Ben Godfrey - loan from Norwich, big strong and very tough to get past, sits infront of the defence. CM Abu Ogogo - not the most technically gifted but an athlete, blocks, tackles and chases everything, captain. CM Jon Nolan - our best player, great on the ball, if you keep him quiet we can struggle to create chances and keep the ball, the difference between us winning and losing. RM Shaun Whalley - inconsistent lower league winger, very quick and exciting in the right moments, but like I say, inconsistent. LM Alex Rodman - a player reborn, not hugely talented but does the basics, crosses, passes simple and runs his socks off. ST Stefan Payne - another big strong lad, bit of pace and knows where the goal is, needs support though. We’re not a team of stars or individuals, Nolan is a cracking player but other then that we don’t have player after player who would walk into other sides in this division. Our main man is in the technical area, Paul Hurst, he’s made us very hard to beat, not a great passing our creative team, but hard to beat. We do the simple things well, play players in their correct position and make sure they all work their bollocks off, that’s all we’ve done really. All of this is based on our general starting XI this season, what I will say is that we tend to make changes for midweek fixtures, as we press high and work hard the players need a rest, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see the likes of Beckles, Riley, Morris, the other Morris and maybe others come into the lineup tonight, rendering my above analysis useless! We all know we won’t win the league, there’s much better teams then us in this division and we know the first defeat is on the horizon, regardless of that we have a hard working team and a good manager, so it should be good times ahead even once that defeat and slip down the table comes. It may be a little late now but there’s two pubs walking distance, The Darwin and The Brooklands which I think is now known as The Wild Pig. Do not park in Sainsbury’s or surrounding shops, tickets seem to get produced on midweek games, but close by is the park and ride which provides free parking, aslong as you don’t mind a queue on the way out. Without sounding complacent we do expect a win tonight, with the start of the season we’ve had and being at home you can’t really blame us, but there’s been some pretty average performances recently and that first defeat does feel around the corner sooner or later.

As far as tonight's team selection goes I only have 2 requests please Daryll...
Firstly, give Telford a start, by all means bring Nichols on as a sub for the last 15 if absolutely necessary.
Secondly, don't bring Moore even for the bench, would rather give Broom a go.
Right I'm off to the supermarket to buy some weetabix.
UTG!

But I've seen nothing of Telford to say that he can play in the attacking midfielder Bodin role, which is where Nichols has been playing. Or do you mean to break up the Harrison-Gaffney partnership, which is starting to look promising?
