Enjoyable game despite being given a footballing lesson. Not many positives for us. I thought Nichols and Telford did well first half despite not getting the best of the service. Leadbitter had a good second half causing problems down the right side.
Broom and Moore disappointing - from an attacking point of view.
Too many high balls from our defence, particularly Burn. Slocombe never threw it out once.
Russe did ok, but Wham's midfield dominated so he was up against it. Dunwald came on tried hard almost got through once but struggled to get into it.
Finally a good crowd with around 200 Hammer's fans !!

And in doing so registering their support for a competition which jepodises lower league football as we know it. Hats off to all who took the difficult decision not to attend tonight. And hats off to the faithful supporters who went Ha, something like that x

In reality all they’re supporting is another kick in the bollocks to the football league. They were supporting BRFC ~ you should try it Dick Maybe in a few years they can support rovers against Chelsea's 7th development squad of under 21s, whilst numerous league clubs get pushed down to the conference. Anybody going tonight is a short sighted , who's support of rovers blurs their ability to see the bigger picture.

I’m season ticket holder (before anyone wants to play the do you ever watch us card) and this was not a difficult decision for me to miss this and all this comp.

I think if you paid to attend it was a moronic decision, maybe they can't see what's going on, as I can't see why anybody willing to watch rovers would want to do something detrmntl to the clubs future. Anyway, there are other arguments, I'm going back to James bond, Teri hatcher was better in superman

1500 Supporters Content About B teams Staying. I decided not to go tonight even tho it's the first time in 2 months that I could go due to free time from work. It's a joke compition but sadly it will be staying around for the near future regardless of the whole 48 league sides in the bottom two levels making a statement by boycotting the games and getting tiny crowds. But people that did go tonight should not be attacked for doing so.

Personally I, in the strongest possible sense, disagree with this competition and the idea of pitting Premier League "B" teams against senior lower league clubs. Of course its a free country, and I'm not going to go and castigate those that decide to attend, despite disagreeing with it. One thing I do find a bit strange however, is that do some people really have such a compulsion to watch every single Rovers match at all costs? I mean, the atmosphere at these games alone must be dire, the result of little or no consequence. Do you really have nothing better to do than watch these matches that even the club only give half a s**t about? Apologies if this causes any offence, and massive respect to any Gashead who supports the club week in and week out come rain or shine, I do just think that this competition should be an exception, where non-attendance would hopefully have a more profound benefit to the future of the club than any short term "entertainment". My opinion of course, and I know this debate will rage on and on.

Well ive been to watch 3 development matches and i was interested to see how the 4 lads from that group faired tonight against good quality opponents. Regarding attendances, footballs not just about that is it? I mean man utd or even derby county fans would say why bother watching a rovers league game with such a crap crowd wouldnt they following your rules. I also watch shirehampton and very much enjoy it thanks.

Yet another boring attempt by people to criticise other supporters who choose to follow the team. The record is becoming bo9ring now. make up your own minds but don't try to criticise others with your futile reasoning. Crap game anyway which showed yet again what a poor system DC uses . Let players play and they will play. Would take any of West Hams midfield in preference to Sinclair, Broom or Moore. leadbitter was Ok but go9t caught out far too many times in defending technique. Burn is awful and God knows what has happened to Sweeney. The youngsters who appeared did OK but none are ready yet.

Looking at the positives....
DC used the selection rules to have the minimum of the four qualifying players so lots of regulars got the night off. Nicholls got another goal.
Regarding the support. I would never criticise our own fans by choosing to go to these games. I believe enough fans from all clubs are boycotting the competition. I understand the numbers are as low as last season which is a good thing because was the muppet Shaun Harvey saying how we will get used to it and the attendance figures will start to go up again?!

It was a near-faultless team performance according to Academy Director, Terry Westley, after West Ham United’s under-21s beat Bristol Rovers in the Checkatrade Trophy on Tuesday evening.
Despite conceding after just 25 seconds at the Memorial Stadium, West Ham dominated proceedings on a chilly evening in the West-country and fully deserved their 3-1 win. A brace from Toni Martinez – his tenth and eleventh of the season already - either side of a Martin Samuelsen goal secured the points and guaranteed the Hammers’ qualification into the knockout rounds of the competition.
To take on League One outfit and win so convincingly was especially pleasing for Westley:
“The manner in which we won is extremely satisfying” he said.
“We’ve had a hard October, playing Manchester United, Chelsea away, then Manchester City at the weekend and now to finish it off against a League One side, who had a very strong team out today, we took it to them.
“After a disastrous start, it just shows the character of this group led by a tremendous captain in Declan Rice and beside him Josh Pask, as centre-halves they really got to grips with what Bristol Rovers threw at us. It was hard at times, having to keep heading balls and clearing it out but when we got it down, we passed them off the pitch. 3-1 could have easily been more than that."
The equaliser came from the penalty spot on 43 minutes after Ben Johnson was brought down inside the box. It was Martinez who stepped forward and confidently drove the ball into the bottom corner to level things up.
After the break, West Ham dominated. Pace down the right, left and through the middle from Haksabanovic, Holland and Samuelsen and Martinez respectively put the Pirates’ defence under extreme pressure and it wasn’t long before they cracked: Martin Samuelsen capitalising on some space in the box to fire home from close range.
Sometimes you have 'it’s a Martinez show’ or 'it’s a Holland show’, tonight was a really good team performance by everybody.
“His second goal was sublime.” Westley exclaimed.
“The way he got in between people and he saw the keeper and instantly knew he had to take it in one touch, it was a magnificent finish.”
Toni Martinez’s two goals may grab the headlines and Westley was delighted with the Spaniard’s contribution, but was quick to place praise on the whole team effort on this particular night.
“Sometimes you have 'it’s a Martinez show’ or 'it’s a Holland show’, tonight was a really good team performance by everybody.”
“The challenge for tonight was: ‘you want to go and show you can play in League One or the Championship so you’ve got to show you’re as good if not better than these players’ and we’ll get back on the bus knowing that a lot of our players can play at this level.”
The win caps of a fantastic October for the Development Squad, who have faced U23 opposition in Manchester United, Chelsea and Manchester City before the Checkatrade Trophy battle with League One, Bristol Rovers, on Tuesday. From a possible twelve points, they have taken ten – only a draw against Chelsea, away, in between three hugely impressive victories.
“Without a doubt [we’d have taken ten points]” the Academy Director explained.
“That’s what this group needs, those type of challenges against the very best players. Saturday, we had four under-18s in the starting line-up, today we had three in Ben Johnson, Conor Coventry and Domingos Quina so we’re young, we’re a very young team in this league and we outplayed them tonight.”

They beat what was effectively our reserves and now he thinks those players are good enough for league one/championship based on that! I don't think so. Do what the likes of Kane/Alli have done etc and come on loan in proper competitive games if you think you are good enough. Also to say it was hard having to head balls out etc is ridicilous. We had probably about as small and lightweight team as we could have had in midfield and going forward lol! Some test!
