Not sure how you gain 2 promotions due to luck? That is a total of 95 matches that we were lucky in? Watch the Grimsby game again. Lucky to have 11 players in the pitch with puddy doing what he did and also played badly, very badly The Daggers match, as ecstatic as I was, was a huge slice of luck. We had lost to Accrington twice and they did everything but score that day and we did so in extra time while still awaiting their result. We went up in 3rd place. If that’s not the rub of the green then I don’t know what is. Fact is we’ve had a core of non league players overachieve and done well to get us where we are. We cannot expect that to continue, not as I see it anyway. Remind me how our first 10non League results went. 95 matches lucky? No but did well to get an players in gaffers at the right time and Ellis Harrison probably scoring his most important and influential goal in the quarters. Even Balanta played his part. We lost one player to Grimsby who I thought was better and more important to us and I thought Trotman played a decent part. It was luck & chemistry plus a determined manager who gave his all. To say we hammered promotion woukd be both a lie and disengenuous. We were able to be lucky in the final because we were in the final. We were able to be lucky on the last day of the season because we were in the mix. Watch England again in 66. Watch Man U again in 1999. Football involves luck. We were unlucky to go down to the Conference - but then again we fully deserved it just as we did those two promotions.

......perhaps in Bedminster, Southville or Ashton? Sorry my dear but I would not like to live near you in those areas so you can keep your rooms for yourself and your ted mates Sorry to disappoint but lived in the heart of Gas country all my life and supported the club since the early 80's. Despite more downs than ups over the years that support remains loyal and I don't understand the need to gleefully slag off the club each and every time things go against us.

If you have followed the lads that long you should know that there is something very wrong with the set up at the moment and it needs sorting fast before we get relegated again. i don't gleefully slag off it hurts to see the position we have ourselves in my posts are my opinions like them or not

We’re poor away from home because we come out of the traps all guns blazing. It’s ok at home but away we need to do the defensive tough side of the game right first early on in the game , keep it tight and then try to nick a goal not go steaming in from the first minute. We’re not good enough to play that way away from home and it’s only worked against Bury who are bottom and Northampton who were in free fall at the time. It was nil nil after 30 mins !?? I didn’t mention today’s game if that’s what your referring too. I was talking about the reasons for our crap away record.

I totally agree with except one point. I’ve been supporting us since the 80s too and I worked out the other day that in that time we’ve been promoted 4 times and relegated 4 times so on the pitch it’s been pretty even in terms of ups and downs. Loosing if you are playing well by the odd goal is more pallatBle than getting thrashed every week and playing like a bunch of headless chickens

You seem to be in some kind of Midlands bubble where you think everything is rosy at the club apart from the manager.

Our away form is very poor but I trust the manager who has been brilliant for us to turn it around, sacking a manager with his record would make us a laughing stock and I reckon relegation would be far more likely with someone new coming in. As things stand a win next Sat could see us in the top half at the halfway point of the season - DC has a good record in the second half of seasons so I remain optimistic.

UTG I take your point but did actually mean on and off the pitch ups and downs Oh right yeah totally got you, there’s been so much hope off the pitch and although things have improved ( come back to Bristol , built New stands , a roof over the blackthorn , a better training ground etc) we haven’t kicked on off the pitch as much as most clubs even much smaller clubs like fleetwood have over taken us. Just goes to show what a great job DC has done really. Knocking around league 2 or the conference is what a newcomer would expect looking at our stadium and training ground. We are punching above our weight in mid table league 1 I feel.
