Depends what happens on Monday. If we build upon two solid points away from home and beat Portsmouth, It's been a fairly good Christmas period, lose and we find ourselves winless in 5 games and close to the relegation battle. Encouraging that our defence has become more sturdy and we are not giving away cheap goals. We just need to not concede penalties. Recruiting well in January could give us that little bit of momentum and consistency needed to go on and have a successful season UTG DC said post match that he wants to get 2 or 3 players in the mini break after the Pompey game. No big money signing's though. Pretty sure that's gone down from 4 players too. Expect it to be 1 or 2 this time next week!

Expect it to be 1 or 2 this time next week! He still wants 4 players to come in. The 2/3 figure is for the break after the pompey game. I expect we will still aim to bring in 1/2 near to transfer deadline day.

January can get expensive and there is no reason to pay over the odds for players we can get for much less in the summer. I don't expect we will spend much but I think we will get a few more decent options that will add to the squad and push us on. DC was trying to lower expectations as there is a salary cap and obviously we can't compete with Blackburn, Charlton, Bradford ect. It could also be a warning to agents and other clubs that we will not be paying ridiculous amounts of money for players.

That's not to say there isn't good deals to be had and we will bring in at least 2/3. Even if the unlikely happened and we did get relegated there would still be players that would come in and help us rebuild.

Expect it to be 1 or 2 this time next week! 2 or 3 players to come in possibly during the 12 day gap after the Portsmouth game. Might just be the 2 but still leaves another few weeks to bring people in afterwards if he wants to.

By salary cap, I assume he meant what the club put on him not anything externally imposed?

That we can break our salary cap? It is not an excuse, it is a fact. We have to live within our means. This does not mean we cannot prosper, look at Scunthorpe and Shrewsbury if you want to see an example of clubs that do not have massive budgets yet have playing squads that compete near the top of this league. Fair play to DC for speaking the truth and not filling us with false hope.

If the owners are ever to start investing in or building anything, we need at least to be a stable L1 club. As it stands, relegation is not too improbable. So DC needs some dosh. If the best we can hope for at the moment is a lick of paint and a new portable bog, what can we hope for next year if we go down to L2?

Once again it was two poor sides that need quality

Smith was unlucky with that pen save and you can’t blame him at all. When a keeper makes a save from a pen it’s an absolute lottery where the ball can end up.
Smith has improved loads in the last 10 games.
