Ha, brilliant. When he took Clarke off and brought Moore and Bennett on to shore up our midfield, I said, if this works DC's a bloody genius. I had similar thoughts. To be honest, that decision could have backfired, but if you throw the dice and half the time you win and half the time you lose, you're better off in the long run so fair dues. Similar to the shrewsbury substitutions which didnt work out. Thing is with dc hes always trying to win a game something i really love about him.

Well Dale put to bed the pitch isn't good enough to play passing football on, awful first half from our midfield, improved with the ball second half and scored nice goals, but they were still able to play through us. Sercombe was better central and Byron was class when he came on. I think we did very well to win that game.

I thought their high press high energy 1st half show had us in all sorts of trouble, similar to the early season peterbro game but they ran out of steam a little near the end of the half. I though we were very good going forward in the 2nd half with partington, bola, lines, sercombe, bennett, moore, sinclair and gaffney all prominent and deserved to win albeit with plenty of scary moments.

I have absolutely zero idea how we won that game. For about 60 minutes that was one of the worst performances I've seen from us in a long time and were only kept in the game by the fact that Rochdale were lacking any confidence or any real cutting edge. Smith was almost single handedly responsible for keeping us in the game for long portions when Rochdale kept making the left side of our defence look like chumps. Noticeable how unorganised the defence seemed to be without Lockyer at the centre of it organising things. Lines had one of the oddest games I've ever seen from him as he seemed to be winning a fair few tackles which he's not renowned for and then immediately giving away possession. Rory and Tom up front were trying their best to feed off the scraps given to them but at half time I thought we'd be fortunate to score unless things changed. Once Clarke made those changes though, Sinclair seemed to grab the centre of the midfield by the scruff of the neck and get them organised and we used the added width of Bennett and Moore well which quickly paid off. Amazing what happens when Moore gets an opportunity to played on his preferred right hand side for once, and perhaps Bodin going could be what allows us to finally see the best of Bryon Moore. Once the changes happened, it looked like we knew Rochdale were there for the taking and Lines scores one of those strikes from the edge of the box that I think most of us would like to see him attempt more often. A sign of a good team if you can win whilst playing poorly. UTG
EDIT: Special shout out to the officials who I would imagine will have complaints lodged about them from both sides tomorrow. How they missed the Rory elbow or the blatant handball in the build up to their first is a mystery.

Just got back and wondered how we won that match all the way home. Rochdale can feel hard done by they should have got a point if not more. After our first equaliser they had three good chances when they should have scored but in the end who cares we won!!! They had done their homework on how we like to play in the first half, put two men on Rory whenever there was a ball up to him and he struggled to hold on to it. But he put in heck of a shift and can see how he was made MOM. Rochdale couldn’t keep it up and we were far better in the second half. Moore had a great 25 minutes and looked like he had a good understanding with Joe P. Broadbent played well in midfield and carried the ball out well and won most headers but I thought against a better team we could have conceded a hatful. But we didn’t so in the end it’s a good win which is what we needed to do. Now we move on to Wimbledon, concentrate on getting three points. Looking forward to it, feeling confident of another three points, but our defence will need to play better. UTG!

In my view the ref got the rory elbow right,it was a complete accident after the bounce of the ball deceived him. Rochdale players knew it as well which is why they didnt react with anger or hassle the ref.

6 points away from another season in league one more like! Positive - looking uplmgas Negative - looking belowgas365 Which camp are the rest of you in? That was tongue in cheek, but it will still be a relief of sorts to get past the 50 point mark given how poor we were earlier in the season without Bodin, shipping goals for fun and looking like a relegation battle was on the cards. Promotion would be a very welcome surprise but I have doubts we can get enough wins considering the fixtures we have left.

We won it because We were fitter. They were flat out pressing us and tearing us apart first 35 mins then they ran out of steam , I could see towards the end of the first half we were going to go on and win it, they just stopped pressing and although we still couldn’t put much together between the 35th and 45th we suddenly had more time on the ball, they were shattered. 2nd half was all us and the only times they threatened we’re on the counter. Our squad is super fit. Over 80% of our goals in the second half and I reckon a hell of a lot of them are scored in the last ten minutes.

Glad to see a few notice Smith last night.
Literally won us that game with a string of saves.
MOTM by a long way.

Glad to see a few notice Smith last night. Literally won us that game with a string of saves. MOTM by a long way. Quite agree. He got a bad smack on the head in the first few mins and had to have 5 mins treatment. As you say he went on to make a number of excellent saves. He's developing into a very good keeper. DC done brilliant again.

Obviously great game to win for us but in a way feel sorry for Rochdale as I think they deserved something from that game. As people have said if it wasn't for Smith they probably would have. If Rovers played like they did away from home with their high energy pressing game and flooding forward in numbers I think we would be well in the play off positions by now. Our better fitness would see out the 90 minutes. You have to say if Rochdale had one eye on their match v Spurs Saturday it certainly didn't show. Smith - 1st half, Moore Sercombe Lines 2nd half stood out for me.

What do they say - A good team still wins even when they play poorly?
It was one of those nights, even DC said as much.
I agree with those above: Smith did really well and Moore looked very good for the time that he was on.
What a great attendance last night - 9200 [126 Dale]

You have to say if Rochdale had one eye on their match v Spurs Saturday it certainly didn't show. Even though their fans tried their best to make them, with the big 'Rochdale, Spurs' banner in the away end. I fear their Cannon bloke will now not make the Spurs game. He should not have bothered putting in such a shift.

With their pace, ball control and positioning, Dale should have been 3-0 up by half time. We just couldn't deal with their pace in particular when defending. Still, another 3 goals scored without Ellis too - that's not bad.

First 60 mins was a frustrating watch but the last 30 we were much better and managed to actually play some football. I put this down to the changes DC made and also our superior fitness, Dale started to run out of steam at the end and although our energy levels weren't up to our usual standards we had more in the tank than them.
Agree with what others say in that we were lucky to come away from that with a win, however there have been plenty of games earlier in the season when we were unlucky not to get something out of a game so I'm not feeling remotely guilty.
UTG!

Why ain't he giving Mensah more of a chance Have to trust DC on Mensah. He sees him day in, day out on the training pitch and must feel he's not yet ready for league one or hasn't got the high level of fitness required yet. Probably see just the odd cameo and then a lot more of him next season. Great result tonight after shocking first half performance. Great character once again. What happened to MrBone second half?Probably went to bed early and cried himself to sleep.

Still, another 3 goals scored without Ellis too - that's not bad. I think Ellis would have ripped them apart last night especially in the 2nd half when they were tiring. Anyone know what the score is with Ellis, I hope he’s back on Saturday?
