Safety in numbers. When youve have been beaten up a few times for no reason you could forgive a person wanting to stick near people they know won't do that. If you were not different to the vast majority and did not flaunt the fact and advertise it, you would not need be afraid or need to go around in groups, next they will be wanting their own rainbow stand Thats a bit like the old rape argument though, you know she was flaunting it so she got what she deserved.

I’m going to start ignoring these topics. Any group that wants to start their own Gas affiliation, more power to them, they have my full support.
If I want a cyclical argument about race/gender/religion/sexuality I’ll go look anywhere else on the internet - we’ve enough cyclical arguments about all things Rovers.
Up the Gas!

Interesting that a thread about diversity and welcoming all turns into a thread for jokes about being gay... perhaps a valid reason why LGBT+ people feel unwelcome attaching themselves to a football club.
I volunteer for a suicide charity and it is amazing in what we call an enlightened so called educated society that people who don't fit the White English heterosexual standard (I am White English heterosexual) are subject to abuse and intolerance. Many young gay people still find it difficult to come out to friends, family, work colleagues etc. And I have spoken to a middle age man (can't provide details because of confidentiality but he wasn't Gas) and he has been a football fan for years and wouldn't dream of telling his fellow fans he is gay because they are the ones who tell jokes about gays, shout 'poof' and 'gayboy' at footballers as if it's an insult or something to be ashamed of.
Perhaps some people are offended about others being gay and as some adamantly say above 'It's my right!!'. I've met plenty of bigoted people who shout about their rights in church, the workplace and on the terraces. I would be glad if the day would hasten when no one notices race, gender, sexual orientation and it wasn't a problem. But as can be seen above that day is a long way off yet.....

I think what some people like about match days and football crowds is that its a bit like the old england they remember and loved. The one where there were just white british people mostly and homophobia was just the norm along with open racism in society in general. So when "kick it out" or "call it out" are pro-active in football those people feel threatened and try to come up with any number of contrived reasons why its actually a terrible idea.
But we all know the real reasons for there objections dont we?
Disclaimer....this is a general observation as other posts of mine on similar subjects have been and is not aimed at any forum members in particular.

Rainbow Stand? Not sure that would help here but we do have a family stand for those with children, executive boxes for those with enough disposable income to hire one. Oh!, and a tent for those with blanket fetishes.

At the very least, this thread has highlighted a few more posters I want nothing to do with whatsoever.

Is that really a fair comparison? I don't personally know anyone who condones rape and I suspect nearly the whole population of this country would give a rapist a good hiding if they got their hands on him or her.

Any person who flaunts their sexuality, be it a homosexual or a woman displaying a lot of flesh do not deserve to be physically attacked.

This thread has yet again descended into one huge facepalm.
Really concerned with the rising anti-LGBT sentiment on this forum, over the last week particularly. I specifically think the moderators need to address some of the innuendo used (taking it certain ways and e45 cream for soreness etc).
Any member of the LGBT community coming on here to read what people have to say would be mortified.
Why on earth in 2018 can people still not be accommodating to all? If a section of the LGBT community would like to come together to attend matches with like minded people, in unity and comfort, how does that affect you?
Same goes for those of you who had issues with the Bangla Bantams on another thread.
I apologise unreservedly to any member of the LGBT reading this thread.
Rant over. UTG

I wasn't making any reference to homosexuality - I was merely commenting on the reference to rape. Homosexuals get raped as well.

I cannot believe fellow 'gasheads' harbour these opinions in this day and age.

I couldn't care less who I'm sitting next to, as long as they don't fart all the way through the game. As far as I'm concerned the person next to me is a Gashead. I don't care about race, creed orientation etc etc. I will celebrate with them when we score, when we win. I also enjoy a joke. Get over yourself.

UTG The crappy jokes are are feeble minded posters attempts to ridicule a subject that they are unable to argue against in an articulate way. When they make jokes or try to argue seriously they expose their prejudice to everone. Then when their called out they scream blue murder and outrage. Recent threads on here have proved just why we need "kick it out" and "call it out"
