I think a few more could have added to the list. But DC calls the shots. We will struggle if some of the over achieving regulars are still in and around starting 11. Can only hope we have kept hold of players so we aren't immediately short, and have our own to full back on. But as I've said I think we will struggle. Need 4 or 5 quality players if we want to do anything. Will end up if 1 or 2 again. These "overachieving regulars" have got us to a 10th place finish last season and a secure mid table finish this season. They have worked their socks off for this football club to get us where we are now and for me some are being a bit disrespectful of that. It's far better than the days of having underachieving and overpaid players who at best could only deliver us a mid table place in league two.

Personally I think we've gone about this the correct way, we know we have a squad that is perfectly capable at this level so quite why some are insisting we need to get rid of half of them is beyond me. The test now is to bring in players like Sercombe that are going to be regular starters thereby raising the standard of the squad as a whole. Capable of a mid table finish but surely with all this expenditure on a CEO & HoR etc the aim must be a top 6 finish, but we've hardly beaten one top 10 side this season. For me we need better quality 1st team: LB, DCM, RW & two strikers, plus I'd take also Lumley or similar any day over Slocombe or Smith. This type of team would challenge for a top 6 place. Lumley Parts/Leads Locks, TB/TC New LB New RW New DCM CL/LS Bennett New No. 10 Harrison I don't disagree with that Topper, my point really was that it's the starting 11 that's needs improvement but players we have currently are good enough to be used albeit maybe not as 1st choices.

Currently 13th and luckily Doncaster and Oxford below us are playing Wigan and Blackburn or it could have been 15th!
Trollope suddenly hit a downward trajectory after initial success...
DC needs to sort the defence out along with a defensive midfielder

Perhaps DC is just preparing in the event that Leads decides to move on, He wouldn't want to left short if Leads decides to leave at the last minute, as of the moment in two months he won't be a BRFC player.

I guess so. I bet we don't sign all those players he wants. I can't see us signing 2 strikers unless another one goes. Hopefully we have all our business done earlier, now we have a head of recruitment in place.

Any deal would be good for someone who regularly misses 1/4 of the season.
I like Leads but he just isn't reliable, think we should have moved him on.
Does he contribute enough when fit anyway? Form seems to have dropped a bit of late

Not that it really matters but a win could put us up to 12th. I wouldn't call that a bad season, if we had sorted the pitch out we could have finished even higher. The pessimist would look at Trollope as an example but the optimist would look at Francis. I genuinely don't see us going the way of Trollope, The downfall with Trollope started when he decided to get rid of the core of players that had delivered initial success, as seen with the retained list today DC doesn't want to repeat that mistake any time soon.

Perhaps due to his recent injuries he has been offered a deal on reduced terms or one where a lot of his pay is based on how much he plays, which might be why there is hesitation in him signing it.

I personally cant see us getting much on Saturday, and our home form has been better than the away form on a crap pitch.
Maybe its the time to get rid of the core of players who got us here in order to push on. Shrewsbury have done it this season, made some canny loan and permanent signings (including 2 players I recommended to Rovers) and have been consistent all season.
I'm quite content knocking about in L1 for the foreseeable, I haven't heard the interview but i'm sure DC will be disappointed we haven't bettered last season so i'll watch him drive us on

That is if we are not playing Wycombe of course.

Very pleased to see Rollin included in the retained list with the other first team players. Hopefully this means we will be seeing a lot more of him on a Saturday afternoon next season.
I'm a big fan of the big guy. Would love to see him and Broadbent as a centre back pairing once they have gained more experience.

Maybe he was still under contract? Fair point. Hopefully will get a fee for him then. Don't particularly want another season of watching him chase his first touch down the M4. I think that's a bit harsh. It's true that Gaffney hasn't had a great second half of the season, but he's shown on in the firsr half and last year that he is good enough for this level. He started the season pretty well but has suffered a little from Ellis' improved form and found opportunities (and therefore a consistent run of games) hard to come by. Gaffney does bring others into play and perhaps we should remember that it was his arrival that saw the best of Matty Taylor, albeit in League 2. Would we have gone up without the impetus he gave us? Someone mentioned on another thread recently that his form had suffered since Taylor left. You could just as easily suggest it is actually true the other way around too. So yes, he needs to score more goals, but then so does every striker at the club. As it stands, we only have three and presumably would want at least four, probably five. It would surely be foolish then to release any of them at this stage. And that's assuming he is out of contract anyway.

Good luck to the lad whatever he decides to do; he always seems happy when i've seen him around the ground but pacey players usually get injured the most.
He averages about 26 appearances per season. I guess DC feels its worth keeping him.

Agree with your sentiments, they have worked hard for the club, but gets to a point where you need to bring better players in to go further, i think it's time to do that now.
