Where do we all stand about naming someone like Cliff Richard before he's even been charged? Should he be named in the hope other potential victims come forward, or, should his name be kept secret? Would so many of the taxi drivers victims had come forward if he hadn't been named? Jimmy Saville?
Thoughts?

Anonymity until charges are brought unless there is either (1) a danger to the public (accomplices, etc) or (2) witnesses are required to come forward.
In both cases police will need to go to court and an application to a judge will be required.

I would also take away the right of anonymity when 'alleged' victims are proven to have lied and acted maliciously. Also, the BBC and press are moaning about press freedoms but they take things too far and have no interest in public welfare, public interest etc. If the BBC waste taxpayers money pursuing an appeal against the damages they should be brought to account. The license fee should be withdrawn. When the press go too far and are forced to apologise the apology should be made to fill the same pages and cover as much of those pages as the original story.

Unfortunately it has to be anonymous until conviction.
Mud sticks and I bet all of us think he's probably a wrong un despite having never been found guilty of anything.

People from a certain community have 100% anonymity when they are accused of heinous crimes involving under age girls and the BBC wouldn't dare report on their cases I wonder why.

We live in a society obsessed by celebrities so the BBC were happy to camp outside his house and fly helicopters overhead morning noon and night.
Abdul the taxi driver and Iqbal the man who sold halal chicken and other ritually slaughtered meats in the local kebab shop were left well alone by the BBC as reporting on Muslims who target under age white girls is not good for diversity.

Dam hell, not Abdul?
He only ran me down the bingo yesterday too.
Thank God (or Allah) you told me. I won't be telling him to keep the change next Wednesday.

Apologies to the OP.
I'm not sure how a thread about press intrusion and the right/need for investigative reporting got turned into an anti Muslim rant.

Difference between the way the press hounded Cliff Richard daily yet left the racist grooming gangs well alone.

They were racist as the attacks were racially motivated when you take into account the victims. The perps were not of a particular race but they all follow a warped religious ideology.

I wonder what reaction there would be if the roles were reversed and Muslims were being tricked and filmed? Would probably be a hate crime and questions asked in the house!
