According to DC: “We are in advanced talks with a potential number nine - I don’t really want to say too much more.” “We are hoping to get the deal done before the weekend but that can hit the buffers. “Then we will see what is left of the pot of gold to see if I can get another one in which will probably be a loan after that. “The transfer window shuts on the ninth of August and then you have got the loan window after that so like I said we will get this bit of business done and I would certainly like two nines but we will see what is left in the budget. “If we get the deal done for the number nine before the weekend he will certainly be in the squad on Saturday.” Regarding adding to other areas of the squad he says: “Maybe I will have to go to loans, I did want to come away from them. But if there is the right potential one, I’d be open to it” Sounds promising to me. A proper striker or just someone too keep the bench warm

Good to see the echo chamber of Gaschat has once again nailed the actual situation 100%
I’d say one permanent Number 9 (which if it is Rhys Healey on a permanent is actually, i think, promising provided he stay fit) and a loan is enough. Maybe bring in one more loan before the end of August.

I heard doidge changed agent to try and force a move on this one. He has changed agents, in that you are correct but players change agents for all kinds of reasons. FGR's manager confirmed they have not received any bids for him.

"“We are hoping to get the deal done before the weekend but that can hit the buffers." There is the clue. Dinsdale is right about Hornby from Everton ! If this runs anything like British Rail were f**ked, as he won’t be here for another month at least! British Rail hasn't existed for near on 20 years. Its as non existant as our transfer funds.

I like the fact the new signing will have had a whole 24hrs pre-season with the gas. Perfect length of time to gel with the squad.

Rumour on EFL Insider it could be Matt Green from Lincoln. Born in Bath, played youth football for City, decent scoring record and 6ft tall. I can see this happening. He also used to bang them in at Mansfield, DC’s club so no doubt the manager knows a bit about him. At 31, he’s been around the block and I actually think he would be an alright signing.

Well Matt Green was present at Lincoln's press conference this afternoon discussing the season ahead. So unlikely that he's in the middle of a transfer to a club almost 200 miles away...
